CVS Caremark
Are they getting better? Is it possible? I mean they couldn’t possibly get worse, but… OK, so over the past few years I have been a major CVS Caremark detractor.
If “CVS” isn’t explicit enough, I’m US-based.
My employer insurance shielded us from the CVS Caremark’s “fuck you” to Wegovy, so I’ve been able to stay on it with $50/mo coverage that the novo “coupon” brought to $25.
I also know they dropped support for mail-order 3-month supplies. I’ve been on it for almost 2 years and they dropped mail-order well before I started.
So my last refill I needed to get a new script from my doctor. I don’t know id the screw-up was me or the MD, but irrelevant, so let’s just presume it was me.
The mistake was noticed, so I asked to resend to my local pharmacy, they did, almost at the same time CVS sent me a “we don’t do that” rejection. I was not surprised.
So fast-forward. This month I ordered a refill, but the local pharmacy said they “couldn’t bill my insurance” click-click at I discovered CVS Caremark was actually servicing that previously rejected mail-order script. WTF? Next thing I know I’m getting tracking info.
I just had UPS drop off a well-packed box with a Styrofoam lining, two different gel cooling packs on top and bottom of 3 BOXES of Wegovy.
So did I miss a notification that CVS was backing off on being complete dicks?
Vacation Victory.
The wife and I took a week vacation last week, ended up packing pens (the wife is on Zepbound, I’m on Wegovy) we did NOT skip doses for vacation. This was our first getaway more than a long weekend since starting GLPs. We were in a spot with sooo many highly rated restaurants that the whole time we never hit any one twice. And they were all “foodie” type places, no fast food (unless you count a deli for lunch) all “real” old-school food, like actual pan-fried veal and full-fat mozzarella in the veal parm. So, definitely no holding back from the chefs. We did have enough restraint to stop before the plates were clean. I would never have left linguine on the plate pre-Wegovy. We both thoroughly enjoyed every bite and took the attitude of, “Hell, we’re on VACATION; we’ll deal with any weight gain when we’re home.”
I fully expected to come home and see an additional 10+ on the scale, like every vacation before, but boy was I surprised. **I was only up 2.3 lbs!!**
So looking back, we didn’t order any appetizers, or any desserts, whereas pre-Wegovy every meal out got both. And I was ordering based on what I actually wanted not factoring what provided the larger portion. I used to walk away from every dining-out experience literally in pain from overeating because that’s what it meant to “have a good time.” This time we both left every restaurant very happy and satisfied, maybe a bit over the line once or twice, but never “I need to undo a button” which used to be typical. We definitely over indulged on beer and wine though. There were a couple mornings where we asked, “did we remember to tip last night?” (We didn’t forget, we’re not monsters. Actually, the credit card app was like, “did you really mean to tip this much?”)
So for those who think about skipping their doses, “so I can enjoy food on vacation” don’t. I think I actually enjoyed my food MORE than before because I wasn’t obsessing over it, I was just experiencing it like I think a so-called “normal” person does. OK, so I’ve also been on this for almost 2 years, so side effects have basically faded away. I definitely wouldn’t advise noobs to have pan-fried veal with full-fat mozzarella and linguine. But stick with the program and you’ll get here.

Non Scale Pyrrhic Victory at the barber
I was past due for my regular haircut, and finally made it out.
When she was finished, she told me I owed less than I expected. Well, whatever, that’s cool, so I added half the difference to her tip.
I then realized what happened. She gave me the senior discount price.
I’ve thought before that because my quadruple chin has transformed into a turkey neck, combined the rest of the loose skin around my face, my weight loss success makes me look older. But unfortunately, it apparently makes me look about 10 years older than I am.
Bittersweet for sure. But I keep telling myself, it’s better to feel younger & be healthier than to look younger, but be 45+BMI.
Well, it happened
So I had to get my hair cut, and the “stylist” looked to be mid-20’s. She finishes up, all good, then she tells me what I owe, and it was actually less than I expected. Well whatever, cool, so I added half the difference to her tip.
As I’m looking up at the services “menu” I realized what happened. She gave me the “**senior discount.**”
Gaaa, I’m 55 not 65!
OK, in her defense, I’ve been dieting the last couple years, and actually losing weight. I’ve noticed in the mirror how my old quadruple chin has transformed into a turkey neck.
Sigh, aging sucks, and is only better than the alternative.
Hey all,
TL/DR: How long should a nozzle last, and how do you optimize its lifespan?
I recently had my MK4s working absolutely fine, but just suddenly it became unable to print. Like it’s fine, then the next attempt fails and I can’t stop the clog detection.
So I probably could have cold pulled. I probably could have done more preventative maintenance, but TBH, the MK4S is so solid I just don’t think about it. Plus I’m like “I just upgraded this,” but checked history and it’s been over 18 months. So I figured
I replaced the nozzle and the print that kept failing now printed better than ever.
So anyway, I’m happy, I’m not complaining. But what are people doing to maximize lifespan and what to people think is the “time to replace”schedule (at yeast in terms of printing hours)
