Is Lightroom helpful?

I’m currently interning for a solo photographer. She’s teaching me how to edit and use cameras, and I’m helping her with her work. She told me she only edits on photoshop. So alongside learning photoshop, would I be helpful for me to also learn Lightroom on my own time? Is there a difference? I heard Lightroom was better for editing a bunch of photos at once, but is that helpful when none of them would look as good as just editing a few in photoshop?

What is a boost converter?

So I heard it can boost voltage, but I’m a bit confused. It sound kind of similar to how a capacitor works when the capacitor kind of sends in a boost of voltage to keep the circuit running. But can someone explain in simple terms how one works? I’ve tried looking it up but can’t ever really understand it.

Domo Gomenasai

Do people say Domo Gomenasai? Based on domo arigato, I assume it would mean something like “I’m very sorry” but in all the media I’ve consumed, I can’t say I’ve heard anyone say this.

Layered sculpture.

I’m looking to make a layered sculpture out of cardboard, I figured that would be the easiest way to get curves without buying and carving foam. But it’s kinda overwhelming and I don’t know where to start. Does anyone have advice?

What's the "o" in O-tenki

For a few days I thought that weather was Otenki, but looking up the spelling, the O is one of those add-ons. Apparently it's supposed to make it more polite? but pimslur never mentioned it, and ive never seen it in any of the other words I know. Is it something people actually use? Am I fine just saying "O-Tenki" every time I talk about the weather?

How can I get electrical signals into code?

I’m not really good at electronics, but I’ve been having fun screwing around. I thought it might be a fun thought experiment and possibly even a project to design my own driving sim. Currently I’m thinking about using a potentiometer with a wheel strapped to it and then using that variable resistance to alter the voltage from a AA battery and just use that as a multiplier for my X coordinates.

How do I actually get code to recognize voltage? Would I use a raspberry pi? I’ve heard a bit about them but never really looked into them. Should I?

How do I safely clean gunk off an oled monitor

I just got this monitor, it’s beautiful, but expensive, and now it has some mysterious crust on it. What’s a safe way to clean it that will remove the crust? I already tried gently scratching with a microfiber cloth.

How should I go about learning hiragana and the basics?

Im currently using pimslur for vocabulary and pronunciation, I really like it, but one thing I take issue with is I think it goes too fast. Like I end up mixing together a lot of words because I don't really get time to practice them. That's why I'm kinda scared to try a different app to learn Hiragana and reading, because I really feel like I don't need to learn even more words and more information to confuse myself. Also, Id love to do like some textbook work, almost like homework to reinforce this information, but since pimslur didn't make the textbook, it wouldn't go along with my lessons, and only give me more information to remember. Does anyone have advice for either better remembering things and differentiating, or just learning to read and write?

Also, I suppose Id ask, does anyone know a good resource for learning like the rules of the language? like a good you tube video or series? What really trips me up sometimes is that because pimslur is just audio, Im often confusing what's its own word. Like I thought for like 3 days (ive been learning for 4) that "ja" was on the end of "Jouzu" because I learned it in "Jouzu Ja Arimasen" but now ive heard it with just arimasen like "ja arimasen" or even like "nihonjin ja arimasen".

I just feel like learning the rules and the add-on sounds and stuff would really help me better understand. Like right now "wakarimas" vs "wakarimasen" has lead me to believe that adding sen makes a verb negative, and "ja" is in "ja mata" which means "see you later", so what is it doing in "ja arimasen"?

Can you sound out Hiragana?

Can you sound out or try to spell out the romaji with their sounds in Hiragana characters? Like sounding out words in English? I know that de+su = desu, but does that work for most ramanji? For some words, like Sukoshi I can find "Su" and "ko", but unless im blind, what makes the "shi" sound? There's the backwards J looking one thats "si", would that and some combination of "h" make "shi"?

Does "yo" mean "for sure?"

Pimslur is teaching me some directional things, right now I just learned "koko desu yo". meaning "it's right here for sure". It said that yo means for sure. Can I use yo anywhere I would use for sure in English? Like If a friend thanks me for doing something could I say yo as in for sure, instead of whatever you're welcome is?

How do I say "a little?"

I just started learning with Pimslur and its tough me a few words. One thing I don't think it explained to me was "a little". It taught me the word "Sukoshi" but what confuses me is when it asks me "how do you say 'A little'?" it pronounces it like Sukosh, but when used in a sentence like "nihongo ga sukoshi wakarimasu" they pronouce the i at the end like how its written.

Is there really a difference in the pronunciation? Also, could someone quickly explain when to use the things like "ga", "desu", "ka", and any others.

one last thing. Its thought me to say "Ja mata" for goodbye, but in a lot of anime I hear "Ja ne" I've also less commonly heard just "ja" I tried to look up the meanings but from what I understand they all mean the same thing.

I suppose I'll add one last thing. From what its told me and what I can infer, I dont need to use "Watashe" or "Watashe wa" as much as I though. It told me that in a lot of the sentances I was practicing the I was inferred. It instead used it more as a "I on the other hand" Is I inferred? Whats the difference between "Watashe wa Amerikajin desu" and "Amerikajin desu"? Doesn't Desu mean like "I am"? So wouldn't it be inferred that im talking about my self? And isnt it "Amerika no kata desu" when talking about someone else?

Is this a short circuit?

So I bought myself a breadboard, some resistors, some wires, and a multimeter, and I was trying to get familiar with them. I wanted to try out the multimeter a little bit so I plugged in my usb power supply to the wall, plugged the wires into power and GND. I plugged the black probe into the COM port and connected it to the ground rail, then I plugged the red probe into the socket with volts on it. My multimeter read ~5V which was expected with a usb port.

“Ok nice” I thought, so I disconnected the multimeter and swapped the red probe to the 10A DC port and set the multimeter to the 10A setting as I was told. I plugged it in the same way and… the usb wire coming out of the wall became very hot. So I immediately unplugged it.

Was that a short circuit? Why was it completely fine to do when measuring Voltage but not Current?

Well anyway I then used jumper wires to wire from both rails into the rows of the breadboard. I then connected it that way. Well that got hot too. Am I an idiot? Can I not make a simple circuit on a breadboard? I have always had a hard time going from diagram to breadboard but I didn’t think it was this bad.

Also, I may be an idiot, but I am being very safe in terms of what I am touching.

How do I build my first circuit?

It’s super simple, and it’s basically just using a breadboard to power some LEDs. No control or anything, just on and off. But because of the LEDs, and my 5V power supply, I’m planning on connecting a bunch of them in parallel. I struggled in the past with the different between current, and voltage, but my current understanding is current is like my budget? I found out that my power supply can provide somewhere around 700-900mA, so when I’m designing my circuit the sum of the current of each branch can’t exceed my current limit.

Im really new to this and don’t know what I’m doing. I plan to have it like [power] and then split into multiple branches of a resistor and like 1 or two LEDs. I just have to make sure the forward voltage (I think that’s what chat gpt said) of the LEDs doesn’t exceed my 5V? Am I missing anything crucial?

I can post my diagram here once I get around to drawing it.

Breadboard with no power

I’ve got a breadboard but I don’t have a power source. Without ordering one online, what would be the best way to make one? I was thinking about using electrical tape to stick two wires to a battery, or cutting into a 5v usb for the power and ground cables.

What are these things?

How do I disconnect these wires? I tried gently pulling on the housing, but its stubbornness and how small it is leads me to believe I don’t know what I’m doing. Is it not just like a normal ribbon wire?

Need help taking it apart

My romba has been giving some bumper errors. Being an engineer I thought I’d take a crack at it. I am completely lost here. I can’t figure out what I need to do to take this part off. All of the screws are inaccessible. And I can’t find anything else to take off first. Btw, the battery is disconnected don’t worry.

Is there an easy way to separate these LEDs?

https://preview.redd.it/32tk7fwgk40h1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=c305f3ce685dc42756b0d20f3508f598e5aa157a

I apologize if this isn’t the right community to ask in, but do you think separating these LEDs is possible?

When making things, I tend to really favor using junk I have before going out and buying things. Would it be possible to split up these lights so that they can still work but be in different places? Essentially I’m planning to use them to light up small little crystals across my desk.

Would I be able to de-solder them and possibly connect them via breadboard?
