I recently graduated from law school, received my provisional degree, and am in the process of enrolling with the Bar Council of Delhi.
For my residential address proof, I submitted my rent agreement (of NOIDA), which required my landlord’s Aadhaar card to be attached. Initially, my landlord refused to provide it and was quite hostile about the request. After a lot of persuasion, he eventually shared it.
Now, for tenant verification, I needed details of his current residence. Again, he was very reluctant and spoke to me quite rudely, but after repeated requests, he finally provided the information with the warning that “HE WILL NOT PROVIDE ME FURTHER DETAILS” And if I need the same, i should leave his rented apartment..
I have now submitted my tenant verification application through the UP COP app.
My concern is that if the police contact my landlord, send him an OTP, call him, or otherwise require his involvement during verification, he may get angry and create problems for me, as he already believes I’m using his details for something unnecessary, even though these documents are being submitted only because they are required for Bar Council enrollment.
Has anyone here completed tenant verification through the UP COP app? After submitting the application, does the police usually contact or involve the landlord directly? Do they send OTPs, make calls, or ask for any confirmation from the landlord?
Also, how long does the verification process typically take? If it is likely to take a long time, I am considering changing my enrollment address to my permanent address in Lucknow instead.
