The D&D and MTG Teams have announced their intent to unionize.

Amongst other things they are hoping to get:

  • Wages that reflect their work and defined career progression,
  • Job security against mounting industry instability,
  • Reliable and easily accessible healthcare for them and their families,
  • Sustainable workloads and practices, including remote and hybrid working,
  • Protection against the encroachment of AI,
  • Full ownership of the work they create outside of the office,
  • And additional needs outlined in their individual units’ goals.

If you would like to read more about this, here is their announcement post: https://unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/dnd-studiox-join-uwotc-cwa

They have also asked the fans of D&D, Magic, and more to sign their petition here as a show of support for the union: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/uwotcpetition/

[Desktop Web] [Firefox]Reddit not showing new posts created since over half an hour ago

On this account and another when I sort by "new" for posts in subreddits or even in reddit's "home" feed I cannot see any post that has been created under the time limit of thirty-something minutes ago after putting this post up.

I have made new posts and they do not appear in those feeds, nor custom feeds I have made. The posts are hidden.

I have no idea if this will even get through since they're being hidden, but I had to try something to get this looked at.

Standard procedure for familiars (M20

Hello again good folks of r/magetheascension

I'm u/K-L1N, Storyteller to be of a Mage: The Ascension 20'th edition chronicle. If you want a few more details on that, check out my past post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WhiteWolfRPG/comments/1utjegb/how_do_you_convert_a_city_to_its_wod_version_wod/

Today I'm here to ask how you're "typically meant" to make a familiar, as a player of mine wanted one in the form of a cat, and took 3 dots in the background to have one. I linked her to the cat statblock in the back of the book to represent the non-quintessence and paradox related stats.

I have now discovered that we had overseen that the m20 corebook apparently wants you to go into "Gods, Monsters, and Familiar Strangers" (I assume this is "Gods and Monsters" under another name) and use the chapter 5 "companion character creation" to make a familiar of your own.

I can see further information on page 185 which says "All familiar characters possess the Bond-Sharing and Paradox Nullification Special Advantages, plus the Thaumivore Flaw." but doesn't specify if you have to pay for those. Do you have to, or do the numbers effectively cancel out?

Is there anyone who can explain familiar creation specifically in a more step by step way so that I can guide my player through it? I would be extremely grateful if so.

Thanks so much in advance for advice and feedback on this topic.

How do you convert a city to its WOD version? (WOD Generally / MTA for me specifically) (Baltimore)

Hello good folks for r/WhiteWolfRPG.

I'm working on getting a Mage: The Ascension 20'th Anniversary game up and running. Though I and my players are Danish, I plan to set my game in the USA in the City of Baltimore, Maryland.

I chose Baltimore for a few reasons: It's a major port city in the USA so it's easy to come up with a reason to justify a character being there from anywhere (player freedom), It sadly has a history of Urban decay and violence, (though it seems to be very much on the upswing recently), which fits a WOD theme, and it doesn't have much of a WOD history that I might struggle with reading up on, aside from a little bit of VTM lore.

However that lack of Lore means that I have to be the one to make it up, and it's not been the easiest so far. This is my first time running a WOD game, and so I've never had to think about how to incorporate the various supernatural factions of the game into a real world setting. It's also my first time running in a setting I myself haven't just invented, which I feel puts a pressure on my shoulders to get details more correct.

So to get to the point, How do you go about learning about an real world city and then converting it into a WOD version of that city?

I have a few ideas, for example I believe that in my Chronicle's Baltimore John Hopkins University will be a Progenitor stronghold, and I also imagine that there will be some Hollow Ones presence in the city in and around the Edgar Allen Poe house.

I've also just collected some local landmarks I could use as meeting points like the USS Constellation, Fort McHenry and Fels Point which would be great for evening dinners and celebrations.

I have several party members who plan to make Etherite characters, and I especially want them to have a home base of sorts in the city, but I'm not sure where to put that.

And lastly I'm thinking of having a group of Heralds of Basilisk being a villain faction as well, so they might need a data center or server room to get hosted in.

Should you have more ideas for me in specific, or stories of you doing similar "worldbuilding" to what I am trying to accomplish, I would be very grateful if you could share those with me. Thank you very much in advance.

I'm having fun as I give this game a proper shot, but I'm curious about energy weapons

Hi all!

I started a New Vegas playthough today. I've played once before, but I think I stopped after leaving Nipton, but my friends are big fans and I know a decent bit about the game so I wanted to experience it fully.

I think I've been doing a pretty standard playthrough, I sided with Goodsprings against the Powder Gangers, stopped off shortly at Sloan to give quarry junction a shot (did not go well), and cleared Primm of Convicts, turining Primm Slim into the sheriff before moving on south.

I think the wildest moment was when I stepped on a landmine while leaving Primm, heard a beep and then a "Hello There." I spoke to Malcolm and learned about the star caps. I thanked him for his time and was blown several feet away by the landmine, while he died where he stood and I took a head start on the cap collecting from his corpse...

Anyway, my build is pretty jack-of-all trades, with a bit more INT and a bit less AGI. And I took the results from my evaluation at face value, getting proficiency in Energy Weapons, Science and Medicine.

However I haven't been taking much advantage of my weapons of choice. While I have found a handful, and my starting laser pistol took off Joe Cobb's head quite rapidly, low ammo counts and low options have left me reaching for regular guns and even melee weapons more often that the ones I'm actually good with.

What I really want to know is if, as I continue this playthrough, I should expect that energy weapons will continue to be few and far-between, or if they will eventually become notably more common, either in scavenging or in shops. Also, would you please offer me options for reliable or fun energy weapons that can be found at a low level (5+) if any exist? Thanks so much in advance.

I really do think that I'll enjoy my time in this game. If I have more questions or experiences to share I will report back!

"Lost Sock" a hatsu for a daily hassle

Emission (Teleportation) + Manipulation (Of physical objects)

Ever lost your left sock in the wash? Ever forgot your passport and only realized at the airport? Ever dropped your wallet in a public place? Ever had your phone pickpocketed from you? Ever dropped your keys down a sewer grate? Ever not been sure which glass on the table was yours? Yeah, that all sucks. Today I bring you a hatsu to help.

Use of this hatsu allows you to get that stuff back. Just teleports it back into your hand. Doesn't matter how long ago it was since you last had the object, no need to look through dusty drawers, just quick convenience.

Lots of conditions in order to get "lost sock" to work with broad application and fail in as few scenarios as possible:

User must use Ko for 5 seconds on the hand that they are summoning the object to.
User must exclaim obscene language as part of using the hatsu. E.g. "Where the fuck are my fucking keys?" This must be said loud enough for others within a 5 meter radius to hear.
"Lost sock" only works on objects that can be easily carried by one hand by the average person. This hatsu isn't for summoning your private jet to you.
"Lost sock" only works with objects the user has a "connection" to. You can't summon anybody's credit card, just your own.
"Lost sock" may not be used to steal back ones item after giving that item up in a fair completed trade. E.g. You can't use "Lost sock" to scam the vending machine while drinking your soda, but you could use it to get your money back if the vending machine didn't give you the soda you selected.

This is very little to speculate / Expand on but the WOD bluesky account reposted the first post from a new account called “RagebornGame” and that’s definitely a blurry version of the WTA logo in there.

I sent this to a friend who then sent it to the WOD discord and a staff member replied with a “soon” meme.

I’m hoping for the best!
