$12 at the local Goodwill. I've disassembled, cleaned, and lubed. The CD and cassette worked without repairs. The CD tray spins slow, but I can't get to the belt without more effort than I'm willing to put into it. One of the matching Aiwa speakers is blown so it's paired with some 6ohm Sony's I over paid for last year. I tried something new and put the plastic on the dishwasher with the heat turned off. It worked great, except it washed off the faux brushed aluminum on the front and CD tray! For a low buck system, it's pretty nice. I already have it on the market place as it's just too damn big anywhere in my house.

Purchased from GoodWill for $14.99. Powered up, but would not take a tape.

Tore down to the mode switch and found the sweeper contact had completely fallen off. I used a hot needle to make new welds. Needed to replace the tray belt to get the transport moving. Everything got a wash with warm suds. I wish I was better at documenting this stuff, I'm pretty proud of this repair. The picture looks great and the compulink remote system works great with my amp and tape deck. Which is good because although I have a remote, it needs repairs as well and I'm waiting on parts.

Purchased from GoodWill for $12 with the power plug cut off. I removed the transport but it appears recently serviced. I replaced the plug, popped in John Denver and was pleasantly surprised how nice it sounds. Didn't even need to adjust tracking.

Found both on marketplace for what feels like a fair price. The EQ 60hz column is dead, otherwise they are in pretty good shape. I will say the W404R mechanical is damn loud.

Jvc AV-32230 TV, Zenith XBV713 DVD/VCR Combo Player, AIWA AD-6450 Tape deck, JVC RX-507V reciver, Pair of KLH 9250B speakers, NES, Game Cube, and a Sega Genesis (megadrive for my cousins across the sea). All thrift store or marketplace finds, except for the GameCube and Sega. I've owned those two machines for decades.

It's all trash by modern standards, but it's been fun to get it all repaired and working properly.

Cheaper than the neglected bikes on the other side of the garage.

Tried to get for $50, but pickings are slim in my part of the world. Highs and mids are on par or just a bit bettrr with my current mint condition Infinity RS-50s, but they have much heavier lows that really appeal to my music tastes.

Some of the Madonna tapes have some value, but nothing worth the trouble of selling. I'm just honored and stoked to have them in rotation.

Not much information available on-line about either. But I can find almost nothing about Sony.

Paid $13.00 for the Aiwa and a bit more for the Sony.

Does anyone have any experience with either unit?

$9.99 goodwill grab. VERY low cost late 90s junk. Nothing worked. Found the take up reel clutches have failed. No spare parts, so I rigged up some rubber to keep just enough pressure. Had to clean the rec/play to get any sound from deck B. On the whole it sounds kinda terrible, and I can't sell it due to the improvised clutches. But it's been fun to get working so far. The rec doesn't work and deck A sounds noticeably worse than B. Going to put a few hours on it and take it back apart and Deoxit all the contacts again.

Bought today at a dirt mall. Tagged for $40 or best offer. The tag said the tape moves, no sound. I offered $20 and the vendor agreed. I get it home and get the work bench set up. Dropped in a test tape... and it works fine. I'm glad I got a good deal, but to be honest I was looking forward to a project.

Got these for $3.75 each. All except La Bamba are sealed, and I opened that one.

No idea of actual value, I just love soundtracks. Didn't even know they were sealed until they got delivered.

I'm still hesitant to open them. I'd I had opened good condition examples. Felt destructive opening La Bamba.

Goodwill $60.00. Just too pretty to pass up. Had to replace belts and Deoxit everything and it still doesn't sound as good as the W205. But DAMN it's pretty.

Paid too much, but it sure is pretty. Replaced the belts, the power plug, and cleaned the switches with Deoxit and it seems to work great.

The tape backlight still does not work. That's next after I'm happy with the sound.
