Some people want a house that blends in. I wanted mine to feel like walking into a dream every time I come home.

What I did:

🦋 Painted the siding a bold lavender purple

🦋 Gave every window a pair of rainbow butterfly wings

🌈 Hand-painted the front walkway in wavy pastel rainbow stripes

🌈 Edged the path and beds with rainbow-painted bricks and hundreds of painted river rocks

🦄 Added a rearing rainbow pegasus by the side bed, because why not

🦩 Built a flamingo garden around the tree with holographic ground cover and a giant sundae

The goal: To make anyone smile that drives by 😄

Happy to answer questions about paint, how I did the walkway, or where anything came from!

Hi r/maximalism, first post here! This is the Dr. Seuss lounge in my house, and it's one of my favorite rooms.

The parts I made myself:

• The wall: clear acrylic sheets covered in rainbow window film, so the color shifts as the light changes through the day.
• The chandelier: clear glass globes that I tinted one at a time with alcohol ink.
• The stacked rainbow table and the arch cabinet: both hand-painted.

I wanted it to feel like stepping into a Seuss book, so I mixed black and white squiggle curtains with a rainbow shag rug, a giant gummy bear, and a fairy light curtain. The black-and-white pieces give your eye a place to rest so the color hits harder.

Happy to share more detail on the alcohol ink chandelier or the film wall if anyone wants to try them. And if you've got a favorite book or movie you'd turn into a room, I'd love to hear it!
