SUV crashes into gas pipeline on Ox Road in Fairfax County

123 currently blocked both directions at Burke Center Parkway. Should be clearing up now but plan accordingly. If you're coming south on 123 you have to turn right and go down and turn left on the Parkway and that adds a good ten minutes.

Fireworks start at 10:30pm?

> With large crowds expected, event organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to arrive early and be patient as they move through security.

> According to event organizers, fireworks on the National Mall are scheduled to begin around 10:30 pm.

Yeah this is going to go over great.

"Show up early and spend nine hours waiting for the fireworks. Your young kids will be fine staying up that late."

The otter wanted to play right???

Yes we know they probably didn't just want to play. The humans did the right thing to move away.

But tell me you wouldn't be tempted to stand there and see! I would probably be too scared in the moment and would swim away too but part of me would so want to stand and at least see what the little guy would do.

(Required disclaimer. If you encounter an otter in the wild, the safest thing for both humans and otters is to stay away from them even if they want to play.)

Advice on painting Achillus Dreadnought in subassembly?

I need a little advice.

My kid just got me the Custodes Achillus Dreadnought for Father's Day. I'm relatively new to the hobby and I've painted maybe ten minis total. I'm not a good painter but learning. Usually I paint to the standard of "I'm not embarrassed by this paint job".

Should I paint this in subassembly at all? Or just assemble it and then paint?

I feel like for my other Custodes, painting behind the weapons and cloak and shields was a major pain and I'm not pleased with the results. But painting in subassembly has its own downsides too.

Advice wanted. Thanks.

Is Fable still available? I doubt it but it seems to show it...

I tried Claude Fable 5 in Perplexity Computer.

It didn't tell me it downgraded me, but who knows if it's true?

Prompt (I have never used Computer before, so I had to come up with something. It's probably a bad test, I'm open to others.)

>warhammer 40k tabletop. give me a comprehensive plan for building a full 2000 point custodes army based on what i already have and expanding to be maximally effective in 11th edition. check the most recent information on rules available. trying to minimize cost but be an effective army. i like infantry but i'm open to dreadnoughts and tanks and personnel carriers if they are optimal. avoid bikes.

Result took 7 minutes. Plan looks good at face value. I haven't read the whole thing.

Private Jet, crash and fire in Dominican Republic June 7, 2026

Looks like the rear landing gear failed to deployed but was damaged, likely by impact with the ground. Skidded off the runway then that explosion. I hope someone got out okay.

(Google Translate of the tweet)

Response to the ongoing plane crash at La Romana International Airport. The aircraft involved is a G200, registration N318JF. Information regarding the possible cause and casualties is still pending. The plane took off from La Romana, reported flight control problems, and attempted to return to La Romana. This comes at a time when the Air Accident Investigation Commission (CIAA) is being questioned for its involvement in the Helidosa accident when the director of Flight Standards at the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) was in office.

Edit: fatalities confirmed. Pilot and copilot. The only souls aboard. May they rest in peace.

Terminators don't feel very Terminatorish?

I love my Custodes. I love my Allarus Terminators. But I can't help but *feel* they're a little lacking in the "absolutely badass" department compared to standard Astartes Terminators.

Obviously the Ten Thousand fight differently than they do. More elegant and more precise. Nevertheless, I wish their power were more evident.

I am told that the Astartes Terminator models are newer and that's why they look more powerful than our Custodes Terminators.

And of course it is pure academic speculation that I ask for. We know nothing of course. I know that.

That said, do you think it likely we will see a refresh of our Terminators soon? Knowing that "soon" could mean anything?

I am interested in your thoughts, sisters and brothers of the Ten Thousand.

Why I love the Expanse. Because it says something.

I am watching the show with my wife. Almost done Season 4. She had never seen it.

I have read all nine novels plus The Churn and seen the show before.

I am old enough that I've been reading and watching scifi for almost forty years. At this point I'm not entertained anymore by explosions or fistfights or gunplay.

I need my stories to say something. To mean something.

I had forgotten how good this story is.

It's not really about the protomolecule. The storytellers rightly never explain who or what the Romans are or the Goths or what exactly happened. Because it's not about them.

It's about humanity. What is it like to be human and not be able to live on earth? What does it mean to use the foundation of your culture ripped out from under you? What happens when your home is ruined and everything that was the foundation of your security is suddenly gone?

And dozens of other other human experiences and stories. A mother and her boy. Parents and their daughter who wants to leave. Growing up the way Amos did. Your daughter's doctor betraying her that way. And dozens of others.

I love these stories.
