What random thing instantly reminds you of a movie?

What random thing instantly reminds you of a movie?

We all have those random things that somehow become permanently connected to a movie or series in our minds.

For me, it’s pigeons. 😂 Whenever I see a pigeon, I immediately think of Vishwaroopam. I don’t even know why, but after watching the movie, that association just stuck with me.

So I was wondering — what’s that one random thing that instantly reminds you of a movie or series?

It could be an object, place, food, sound, smell, animal, word, anything.

Would be interesting to hear everyone’s weirdest movie associations. 👀

Looking for a replacement charging case for Zeb-Chime R

I accidentally broke the charging case while cleaning it. I tried gluing and fixing it a few times, but it keeps breaking again. 😅

I’m okay with buying a new charging case, but I can’t find one anywhere. I also checked the support page, but there doesn’t seem to be a proper option for getting a replacement.

Has anyone faced this issue or knows where I can get a replacement charging case for the Zeb-Chime R? Any help would be appreciated!

CBFC, what exactly are your standards anymore?

I genuinely don’t understand what CBFC is into anymore. They’re clearly showing partiality.

Anyone who watched the trailer and teaser already knew how toxic this movie was going to be. Yet CBFC does unnecessary cuts in movies, even Hollywood films. Recently with Spider-Man, they literally cut a scene and even put black/blue patches over a few scenes.

And then somehow movies like this are still allowed to release with basically zero cuts? Seriously, what is the logic here?

CBFC needs to be consistent. If you’re going to censor certain things, then apply the same standards to everyone instead of selectively targeting some movies while giving others a free pass.

Need some career advice — Java Full Stack dev in a small startup

Hey everyone, I’m a bit confused about what I should do with my career right now, so I thought I’d ask here.

I’m currently working as a Java Full Stack Developer in a small startup with around 20–25 employees. I’ve been here for almost 3 months as an intern, and they’re planning to convert me to full-time in a week.

During the interview, they mentioned a salary range of around 4–8 LPA, but honestly, I have a feeling they might offer me something on the lower side. If it’s around 4 LPA, I’m not sure if that’s a good enough salary for me, especially coming from a middle-class family.

The bigger issue isn’t even the salary. I’m worried about whether I’m actually going to grow here.

The company doesn’t really have customers yet. They’re still pitching their applications to potential customers and beta testing them. From what I’ve seen, most of the products are pretty basic CRUD applications. I’m not saying I know everything, but I’m worried that if I spend 1–2 years here, I might not learn enough or get good exposure.

A lot of people keep telling me:
“Stay in your first company for at least 2 years. Don’t switch too early.”

But I’m confused about whether that advice still makes sense if I’m not learning much.

I was actually interested in Android development before this. I’ve built a few Android apps on my own, but I moved into Java Full Stack because that was the opportunity I got.

Now I honestly don’t know what I should focus on.

I feel like I’m kind of blind about what the right path is.

For people who started with a low-paying first job, what did you do to move forward? And realistically, what would you recommend I focus on over the next 1–2 years?

Any advice is appreciated.

Terrible 3D experience at INOX Reliance Mall, Salem

Yesterday I watched Spider-Man: Bran new day in 3D at INOX, Reliance Mall near the New Bus Stand. Honestly, the theatre itself was clean and looked good, but the 3D experience on Screen 2 was horrible.

The show was supposed to start at 4:15 PM but started around 4:30 PM (not really complaining about the 15-minute delay).

The biggest issue was the 3D projection. The right side of the screen looked faded/dim for some reason, and a portion of the right side seemed like it wasn't displaying properly. I’m not sure if it was an issue with the projector or the screen itself.

The 3D was also not properly aligned/projected. Even with the 3D glasses on, I could clearly see two separate images of everything. It was especially noticeable with text and subtitles, which made the whole experience really uncomfortable and distracting.

I honestly wish I had gone to ROX instead, but they didn't have an afternoon show.

Screen 2: 2/5 ⭐

The theatre itself was clean and good, but the 3D projection really ruined the experience. Has anyone else faced similar issues with Screen 2 at INOX Reliance Mall?

Which is the best theatre/screen you’ve been to?

For me, it’s the IMAX at Broadway Cinemas, CBE. Honestly, it’s one of the better IMAX experiences I’ve had compared to some other IMAX screens.

And the best part? In other states, IMAX tickets can cost a fortune, but here it was around ₹450.

What’s your favourite theatre/screen, and what makes it stand out for you?

Why did my brain keep playing Tamil songs while I was watching Spider-Man: BND 😭

Today I was watching Spider-Man: BND and honestly, I really liked the movie. The writing was good and everything. I only had a small disappointment with how soft they made Frank as a character, but I’m not really here to review the movie lol.

The weird thing is, while watching it, my brain randomly started playing Tamil songs for some scenes. 😭

For example, there’s that scene where MJ kisses her boyfriend and Peter sees it. The moment I watched that scene, my mind instantly started playing:

Nethu un kannil naane, Inaiku yaaro thaane...

Veroru kaiyoda, Un veral paathen naane...

Nallaru po from Dude. The funny part is, I haven’t even watched Dude 😭. Somehow my brain still connected that scene with that song.

And during that last hospital scene, I suddenly started hearing this in my head:

All time-um anbarukkum En thangame

Enakaaga kaathirukkum En sondhame...

I watched the whole movie in English, but my brain was basically adding its own Tamil BGM to everything. 😂

I genuinely don’t know why this happens. Maybe the scenes just had that same emotional vibe as certain Tamil songs I've heard before?

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Like you’re watching an English movie and suddenly your brain starts playing some completely unrelated Tamil song that somehow fits the scene perfectly? 😭

Watching Jananayagan reminded me of this again... what exactly changed with H. Vinoth after Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru?

அன்பின் வழியது உயிர்நிலை; அஃதிலார்க்கு என்புதோல் போர்த்த உடம்பு.

Today I watched Peranbu.

I don't think it's just a movie. It is an experience that quietly sits with you and changes something inside you.

It left me with a heavy heart. There were moments where I genuinely didn't know what to feel except pain, empathy, and love. 😭

This film made me rethink the meaning of love, care, and humanity itself. We often try to define love through relationships, labels, or gender. But Peranbu reminded me that love doesn't belong to any gender. Love is what makes us human.

Some emotions cannot be explained through words, and this movie gave me many of those moments.

It's rare for a film to change perspectives and make you look at life differently. Peranbu did exactly that for me.

One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking films I have ever watched.

Are we in TN really blessed when it comes to theatre ticket prices?

I was checking Bangalore theatres because I was planning to watch The Odyssey in IMAX here, and honestly I got shocked after seeing the prices.

IMAX tickets were starting around ₹1000-1400, and some premium seats were touching ₹1800+. 😭

Meanwhile, I've watched IMAX in Coimbatore multiple times for around ₹450-500 and even felt that was expensive back then.

Not just IMAX, even normal multiplex and single screen tickets in TN are much cheaper. In many places here, we can still watch movies for ₹120-160.

Made me realise that as cinema fans, we're actually quite blessed in Tamil Nadu. We can watch movies frequently without spending a fortune every time. 😅

Anyone who has lived outside TN felt the same? Or is Bangalore just an exception because of higher salaries and demand? 🤔

My friend ruined my first impression of Meiyazhagan 😭

Back in 2024, I wasn't using Reddit or Instagram, so most cinema updates came from one friend of mine, who's a hardcore Kamal kanni.

One day he confidently told me that Meiyazhagan was going to be India's first mainstream movie about a gay relationship, and that Karthi was acting in it. He even showed me the poster and kept talking about it like it was 100% true. Later he even tried to show me the trailer, but I avoided watching it because I wasn't that interested.

I completely forgot about the movie after that.

Months later, after it was released on OTT, I kept seeing people praise it everywhere. Since I still believed what my friend had told me, I was sitting there thinking, "Wow... everyone's really supporting LGBTQ movies."

Then one day my mom asked me to download Meiyazhagan because she'd heard it was an amazing film. So we watched it together.

Within the first few minutes, I realized my friend had completely trolled me. 😭

Instead of watching this masterpiece in theatres with zero expectations, I spent months believing it was a totally different movie because of that idiot.

To this day, I have no idea why he did that. 💀

Unpopular opinion: M. S. Bhaskar is a great actor, but this role didn't really need someone of his calibre. The character itself wasn't that special.

Do DC and Thapputhalangal have similar plots?

Both seem to revolve around social outcasts falling in love and trying to escape their violent/criminal lifestyle. Thapputhalangal had a rowdy and a prostitute wanting a better life but society pulling them back down.

From what we know about DC so far, Devadas and Chandra also seem trapped in a dangerous world where love and survival clash.

Do you think DC is spiritually similar to Thapputhalangal, or is it a completely different kind of story underneath the surface?

If not PGs, even decent 1RK / 1BHK suggestions are welcome if the locality and rooms are good.

Would really appreciate:

  • PG names

With Dhruva Natchathiram finally getting clearance and moving toward release after years, is there any realistic chance for Naragasooran to see the light of day?

From what I understand, Naragasooran has been completed for years but got stuck due to issues between Karthick Naren and Gautham Vasudev Menon. Since GVM is involved in both projects and seems to be resolving his long-pending issues now, could that indirectly open the door for Naragasooran too?

Or are the legal/financial complications around Naragasooran completely separate, making its release unlikely regardless of what happens with DN?

Genuinely curious if there’s any solid update or if this is still stuck in the same limbo.

I was trying to think of proper anti-villain characters in Tamil cinema, and honestly… I’m struggling to come up with many.

The only one that clearly stands out to me is Wolf from Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum — a character who does terrible things but still has a moral core and a larger purpose.

I know some people might say Vedha from Vikram Vedha, but I don’t fully buy that. The whole point of that film is that everyone operates in shades of grey. Vedha isn’t really an anti-villain, he’s just part of a morally ambiguous world.

That got me thinking — why don’t we see more anti-villains in Tamil cinema?

Is it:

  1. Writers not exploring that space deeply enough?

  2. Audience preference for clear hero vs villain conflicts?

  3. Or just a storytelling habit we haven’t broken out of?

Because anti-villains can be insanely compelling when written well. They add tension, moral conflict, and make the story way more engaging than a straightforward hero-villain clash.

Am I missing any solid examples from Kollywood? Would love to hear if there are characters that genuinely fit the anti-villain category.

I had zero hype for Karuppu until "Karuppa kooda va". Now I want to experience the song placement of "Karuppa kooda va" and "Raathu rasan" in the movie.... Let's hope Karuppu will be a hit for Suriya...
