Hi all. My mom, age 59, is currently in a nursing home after a catastrophic ischemic stroke after dental surgery 4 years ago. She’s paralyzed, completely nonverbal, incontinent, the whole she-bang. It’s an incredibly sad and devastating situation to witness. I try to do all that i can to bring her as much happiness as possible. Thankfully, shes found another resident who’s now become her boyfriend (he has dementia). For the first time since her stroke she finally has found some peace & happiness in him 🫶🏼

With that being said, her nursing home is hosting an “adult prom” at the end of the month. The nurses told me she and her boyfriend are in the running for “prom queen and prom king” (shhhh 🤫 don’t tell anyone lol).

What I need: I need some suggestions for consignment shops in the tricities that might have a dress for her that would be appropriate for this event. Not churchy, but also not skimpy. Probably something floor length. I’m not looking to buy a brand new dress or spend $100’s. But I’d like to find something decent that will make her feel pretty.

Any consignment shop recommendations are much appreciated 🫶🏼 She’s short (4’11) and is a size small-medium (ish). I’m also 4’11 and know how hard it is to find dresses that fit my length. She will be in a wheelchair so I believe the length isn’t as big of an issue since we can just bunch it up in the wheelchair seat.

Hi all. My Iggy, Stormi, is going through her second heat cycle and now it’s time for me to schedule her spay. Since this appears to be a topic of contention, Italian Greyhounds have a high chance of breaking a leg. My boy, Nico, broke his leg at 6 months old. Because of this, it’s highly recommended to wait to spay and neuter them until after 1 or 2 heat cycles for females, and to wait until 18 months minimum for males so their bones can strength from their hormones. This is why we have not gotten her spayed yet. (Just wanted to clarify)

We do have an amazing home vet but from my research I read that females sometimes need to stay overnight for observation after spay surgery. To put it bluntly: this would be highly traumatic for her and I genuinely fear she would end up freaking out and busting her stitches or chewing her leg off of something. In true Iggy fashion, she’s very attached to me and her brother. She’s either always with me, my boyfriend, or their full time sitter. They’re never alone because of their anxiety. Anywho, to speed this up: I found VEG ER and found that they have accommodations for staying with your pet during their hospitalization. This is exactly what we need. I’m aware that the price of the spay will be 2-3 times more expensive having it done at an ER, but it’s worth it to make sure she’s comfortable. I’m aware I sound crazy. Ive learned to embrace my (probably unhealthy) attachment to my pets. It is what it is. (Tbh, you’d probably get attached to her too because her cuteness is out of this world 😆)

Anywho, I’m hoping some of you could share your experiences using VEG ER and how your overnight stay went. I’m not even sure they would even do the spay operation considering they’re an emergency vet, but I’m going to call tomorrow and explain the situation to see if they have exceptions. Any advice about this vet is much appreciated 🫶🏼

I have two iggies, Nico & Stormi. Nico is 2 and Stormi is 1. From the very first day, Stormi’s favorite thing to do was be outside. We literally had to bribe her to come inside. She wanted to be outside, sunbathing, and sniffing around all day, every day. About a month ago, we noticed she had become reluctant to go outside. I thought it might be a phase, but it’s gotten worse. Most of the time, I have to physically put her out because she flat out refuses to do it on her own. It’s bizarre and a complete 180 from her normal behavior. As of this week, she has now started going potty inside. She was the easiest to potty train (Nico is still a work in progress) and was the one we never had to worry about having accidents inside. Not anymore. I had noticed a urine smell in the living room for the last few days and tonight I found it on the couch. It’s definitely Stormi’s because it was a puddle (Nico splatters and urinates on vertical objects). Right after cleaning it, I found another FRESH urine spot on the other side of the couch. This is so abnormal for her, and now I’m a little worried. Has anyone experienced this before? I’m not sure if her fear of going outside is connected to her going potty inside or if there’s something deeper going on that she’s trying to tell me. Any advice or suggestions?

Helpful context: I’m 34 and my daughter is 18.

A few years ago, my long term boyfriend set up a 529 TN Stars account for my daughter to help with her college expenses. She now has around $20,000 in this account. She starts her first college semester next month and has multiple free-ride scholarships/grants/etc. The likelihood of her needing to use the 529 account for college expenses is very low.

I am also currently in college. I’m starting my junior year at the same university as my daughter, and will be pursuing a law degree after I obtain my bachelors. Up until now, all of my college expenses have been paid for by the Pell Grant and other smaller grants/scholarships. But because I’ve transferred from the community college to a University, my financial aid won’t cover everything. For example: I owe $6500 for this semester and my financial aid package is only covering $5000.

I know a 529 can be transferred to another dependent but has anyone ever been in this scenario of transferring it to a parent?

Of course, I have student loan options but I’m desperately trying to wait to take out any loans until I get to law school.

I’m also curious how transferring the funds work. For example, am I able to transfer the amount I need for my college tuition on a semester by semester basis? I don’t want to transfer the entire amount, just what is needed to pay for my remaining college expenses.

***ETA: I called a 529 representative and they told me that I would need to be related to the person who opened the account (my boyfriend) and NOT to the original beneficiary (my daughter), despite their website saying the exact opposite. 😩

Hi all. A couple months ago, I came across a TT raving about Recigar (main ingredient=cytisine) to quit smoking/vaping. I vape (also former 15 year previous smoker) and became intrigued so I decided to order a pack. I had forgot about ordering it until it was delivered today. Because it works on certain receptors, I was wondering if it possibly helps with overcoming other addictions outside of just nicotine? I’ve been on 7oh for a few months and am desperately trying to stop. I’m curious if anyone has used this medication and if so, did you feel any effects towards other addictions?

For a little more context, when I was briefly on Ozempic back in 2024 I immediately felt a major shift towards alcohol. It completely turned off my cravings for it and helped me get sober. I’m curious if cytisine possibly works the same way and can help me come off of 7oh as well as nicotine.

Altman and Koracick should’ve been end game. Their chemistry was 🥵 and honestly, I was more interested in their story than I’ve been interested in Grey’s as a whole since Derick died. Also, not making Koracick a regular was really stupid. He’s funny, charming in a way that makes you hate/love him, and is a really interesting character. I found myself rooting for him when Teddy was going back and forth with him and Owen and my heart broke for him when Altman kicked him to the curb. I’ve not felt that much for a character in a long time.

I quit watching Grey’s after Derick died but decided to go back and watch these latest seasons after Mcsteamy passed away. I’m only on Season 18, so I guess there’s a possibility that Teddy & Koracick rekindle their love but it doesn’t seem likely :/

Also, does anyone else feel like there was a major shift in the storylines and development after the plane crash (I think season 8)?
