Rachel Ray’s “$40 a day” on Food Network

Early 00’s. In each episode, Ray takes a one-day trip to an American, Canadian, or European city with only $40 US, to spend on food.

Is drinking Iced Tea by the gallon a Central PA thing or is it statewide?

Turkey Hill is the biggest but there’s also Rutter’s and others. Old enough the remember Pensupreme and we used to basically drink it instead of water.

I think outside of PA you have the Pepsi/Coke owned brands, Arizona, Snapple, Pure Leaf etc. Milo’s too.

As a seasoned fan, are you conditioned to manage your expectations and expect a large drop in form for most professional players after 30 years old?

Thinking about Son Heung-min here but could name many others as well.

I understand this highly dependent on position and playing style (i.e. attacking forward who relies on pace versus goalkeeper) with peak form around 25-29 years old with a steep decline for some (most?) players.

Maybe I need to keep low expectations for my older, favorite players.

Manners and elementary school age kids

Went to a private school welcome event. A few elementary school age kids were cutting in line at the breakfast buffet table. One accidentally ran into my toddler and knocked her over hard. Thankfully my toddler was okay but the kid (about 8yo) just got up and ran away and didn’t say anything. Parents nowhere to be found. This is considered a nice private school.

Is this developmentally normal? The new normal? I’m wondering at what age manners kick in.

Is the demise of the citrus industry one of those unnoticed or unappreciated events by the average Floridian?

I remember seeing citrus groves (and billboards for them) on either side of I-95 through Treasure Coast and Indian River County on the way to Orlando. Now, its all gone due to citrus greening. I'm guessing its all paved over now. And, you can still get oranges and orange juice at Publix.

I don't really hear much about it being talked about. Is it just one of these things that didn't really impact the average resident so no one really noticed or cared?

BBQ fans, how often do you fire up the smoker or grill?

Not from Texas…

As a BBQ fan living up nawth, I picture living in Texas as having a nice offset smoker and grill, buying relatively inexpensive cuts of beef from HEB, and picking up mesquite chunks lying on the ground all the while drinking a Shiner.

But then, I realize there are so many good BBQ joints and steakhouses that it’s probably not worth the time to go through the hassle.

So which is it?
