When would you pull the trigger on park tickets?

We are super excited about our upcoming trip in Jan 2027. We have already booked our flights and hotel (staying at Art of animation).

I haven’t purchased park tickets yet. The regular price for a 3 day is about $170 per day per adult for the time frame we are going.

I know usually the increases happen in October.

I was considering waiting until mid September to see if the current park magic deals online are replaced with anything. I have seen that most likely next group of deals would be a bundle of tickets + resort stay.

I found a deal through one of my credit cards that would save us about $300 in total for our trip. It doesn’t appear to say online when the deal will be gone.

If you were me, would you pull the trigger on the credit card offer deal? Or try to wait another month or so to see if anything direct for only park tickets appears or potentially cancel our reservation and rebook a deal?

Favorite Park Backpack with Kids

We are taking our kids 7 and 6 to Disney in Jan 27 for the first time. They are old enough that we obviously aren’t bringing a lot of stuff, but if possible I would like to find a small backpack for me to wear that is big enough for both of them to have water bottles along with basics (cell phone, wallet, hand sanitizer, tissues, maybe some small snacks, etc) and can go on rides with us. I know the loungeflys are popular but they don’t seem big enough to me

Anyone have a recommendation?

Favorite Non-Park Resturants

This group has been such a wealth of information in planning our trip!!

We have two slots I’d like to book a dining reservation on our travel days. The day we arrive I’d like to book us dinner and then the day we leave a brunch before heading to the airport.

We don’t have park tickets on these days so looking for recommendations for resort or Disney springs restaurants.

It will be me, my husband, and our two kids 6 and 7. They are not big on characters so I’m not wanting to book a character meal but I would still like something special and fun for them.

Thank you!!!

The knowledge in this group is incredible!! Please help me finalize!

I have been reading the posts in here the last few weeks and I am blown away by the amount of knowledge people have about WDW!

The last time I went I was 12 years old. We just booked our first trip it will be my, my husband, my 7 year old daughter and 6 year old son.

We are flying in Wednesday 1/26 we will land around noon and then leaving Sunday 1/30 around 6pm. We are staying in Art of animation.

We haven’t purchased our tickets yet so I’d love feedback on our plan!

Travel Day- arrive check in to hotel, find somewhere fun for dinner maybe resort hop
Day 1- magic Kingdom
Day 2- debating Hollywood studios or park hopping to universal
Day 3-animal kingdom
Travel Day- fun breakfast maybe character before flying out

Here are some of my question but so open to advice:
How far in advance do we have to purchase tickets?
Is it doable to not have a rest day? Since we may not return for awhile we want to try to do as much as possible.
Is it slow enough end of January to not purchase LL and still do a decent amount of rides or should we plan to buy them? Our kids are not super into one specific character or movie but they LOVE rides so that’s really the priority. I’m torn between wanting to maximize rides and the idea of walking around jumping into lines as we go sounds more relaxing than being on my phone scheduling and rushing to get to specific rides sounds stressful
Is it worth it to jump over to universal or should we stay in the bubble?
Are character meals a must or since our kids are not dying to see anyone specific should we skip it?

Activities for travel days?

We are planning our first ever Disney trip for our kids (ages 6 and 7) and are so excited!

The flights we are planning to book would have us land in Orlando around noon the day we fly in and then leaving around 6:30pm the day we fly out. I like the idea of having enough time on travel days to do something else besides only travel, but we are going in January so I don’t think pool/waterpark would work.

I know we could eat/shop at Disney Springs. Is there anything specific to do there that my kids would enjoy? Or anything else in the area worth doing? Would a park on our last day be feasible maybe Animal Kingdom?

Thanks to this community

My husband and I always talked about putting in a pool fence.

Honestly we are regular people but we were also the dummies thinking “they never go out without us”, we added extra door locks, our kids are in swim lessons etc, etc

I don’t want to give the influencers themselves credit here but honestly the posts in this community not only about EK but other influencers lack of water safety pushed me over the edge to stop putting it off.

We still have all of our other safety measures in place, but I feel so much better knowing we took that big step to keep our kids safe. Thank you to all of you for shining a light on this issue!

Summertime Guilt

The summertime guilt hit me hard today….

My husband and I both work pretty demanding jobs but we try so hard to still be there for our kids and spend quality time with them.

My sister in law and her husband are both teachers so they are off with their kids all summer.

We let our two older kids (7 and 5) sleep over with their cousins on Thursday then go to the beach on Friday with them. Then yesterday we celebrated my daughter’s 7th birthday at our community center pool which is like a mini waterpark.

I was hoping all this summer fun would sort of fill their tanks but this morning drop off to prek/summer daycare was ROUGH.

So much whining and crying/ they hate school it’s boring they don’t want to go, etc etc. I know they were tired from the packed weekend. I don’t think they are 100% drawing the connection yet that other kids don’t do this all summer but j see it starting.

At the end if her party my daughter told one of her daycare friends “see you at school tomorrow!” And one of her friends from Kindergarten commented “wait why there’s no school tomorrow”

I know this is all normal and just part of life right now but the guilt of not being able to spend more time with them and give them a break really settled in for me. I wish so badly I could’ve just taken today off and hung out with them but my PTO is so limited this year.

Anything you’ve done that helps the weekdays be a little less brutal in the summer?

Don’t make me defend Mido….

Listen I don’t think Mido has good intentions, he’s not a good partner, but Debbie’s friends criticizing how he acted inside the haunted house was kind of insane.

This man has never experienced Halloween, or a haunted house before, there’s no standard “how you’re supposed to act with a partner inside a haunted house” that everyone knows… he seemed to just be enjoying it and having fun like wtf leave him alone

Help me decide 3 or 4

My husband (almost 37) and I (36) have three wonderful kids almost 7, 5 and 15 months. I am one of four and he’s one of five so we both have always been open to a big family.

The decision to have 2 was so easy- 3rd was a big decision honestly. The world is made for a family of 4- houses, cars, seats on an airplane, not being outnumbered etc.

Now that we have 3, we are trying to decide if we are done or open to one more.

We could afford it financially (there would obviously be changes like fewer vacations or budgeting more etc), we have room, I think our biggest reasons not too would be keeping our nanny on(we LOVE her but financially planned to keep her for only 3 years) and it’s a big expense, we don’t really want to go through the sleepless stag again, even 15 months this stage is hard and very physical.

Personally I was diagnosed with pelvic prolapse after my last pregnancy. I worked with a wonderful PT and I know a lot of things I could do now but having another baby could definitely make it worse.

There is part of my brain that feels all of that would be worth it for another baby but the other part of my brain thinks it’s just time to say goodbye to that part of my life and be content with my current family. I don’t know how to make a decision and feel peace about it

Favorite solo dinner?

I have a very rare treat tonight- my husband is planning to take all three of our kids to his mom’s house for dinner and baths.

I’m solo for dinner tonight and would love suggestions of your go-to. My kitchen is clean so I don’t want to do any real cooking with like pots and pans. I’m going back and forth between random girl dinner of things in the house or fun takeout- what would you do??

Anyone else crying at how fast your kids are growing?

I’m usually not a super sentimental person. My oldest just finished Kindergarten today and I am actually feeling so emotional!

It went by so fast, I can’t believe how much bigger, more mature, and grown up she is in just one year.

Her teacher also gave her a very sweet goodbye note that made me cry- she was obsessed with her teacher she was the perfect Kindergarten teacher.

Something about elementary school years that feel more intense ending than just moving up to a new class in daycare. Please tell me I’m not alone!!

Advice for 14 month old to enjoy high chair?

Anyone has recommendations on how to get our 14 month old to like her high chair?

She is our third and our other two were quite happy in their high chair at meal times.

She prefers to sit on our laps, have us feed her, and get up and down as she pleases. With three kids it would really be so much better for us if she would sit down and feed herself.

She used to squirm a little getting in- now she kicks her legs around and cries, she will settle down when we get her in and get food in front of her but then she only lasts about 3 minutes before throwing food and saying “all done”. But she isn’t actually full we get her out and she wants to then crawl onto one of our laps and eat more….. HELP

I have such a hard time figuring out what would be ideal for Mother’s Day every year.

We have a 6 year old, 5 year old, and 1 year old. If it wasn’t for the baby I would probably love going out to a fancy brunch and an activity as a family. My older two kids are great at resturants and very fun to do things with.

The baby….. not so much, she barely sits still. She’s at that annoying age where she wants to walk on her own but is always falling or putting herself in danger.

Truly nothing is that enjoyable with her.

I know I don’t want to cooking meals or stuck in the house all day but I’m struggling with what would be fun to go do at this stage.
