I used to use my Cannon ZR85 until a gear broke, I got it out and decided that if im going to spend any money I rather buy a better camcorder. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good affordable nighttime miniDV camcorder? Any help would be appreciated, I have a trip in about 2 weeks that I'd like to get on tape, thanks!

Working on a Canon ZR85 MinIDV camcorder. Rewind works smoothly, but playback/fast-forward make rhythmic clicking noises. I cleaned some of the rubber components and it Improved slightly.
I found what looks like a crack in one of the white plastic loading/transport gears near the visible tape loading area (photo attached). Does this look like the likely cause? Also, are these gears removable/replaceable without completely disassembling the transport mechanism?
