“Processing Vulkan Shaders” before starting a game

I’ve started trying out Nobara Linux for the first time (only played on windows before)

Every time I’m starting a game (Deadlock, since I’m playing that at the moment) I get a popup in Steam that says “Processing Vulkan Shaders” and it often takes quite a while.

I’m confused because there’s nothing like that on Windows, and the game already has a few seconds of shader precompiling (i think it’s the term) when you load up into the lobby. Why does it have do this extra step on Linux?

Does Windows do this more efficiently somehow and that’s why this doesn’t happen there?

And what could be the issues if I somehow turn that off? Will it be laggy the first minutes of playing or something worse?

Question about Steam’s Game Clip Capture

So I’ve recently discovered the existence of this feature and I’ve been looking for nice alternatives to Steelseries Moments (that piece of dogshit just annoys the hell out of me with countless things that either stop working or issues that keep happening for months)

My question is - I see Steam allows you to clip the last X amount seconds as a Clip (the function that I need), but it also says it records a certain amount of minutes and stores it in a temporary folder (120 minutes is the default I think). I don’t need this specifically cause I feel like it’ll be using too much of my disk space for no reason.
Can I somehow disable this specific functuon but keep the “clip on demand” function?

I’m trying to replicate the Steelseries Moments experience in this regard, but maybe Steelseries also records general gameplay into a temp folder (apart from clips), just doesn’t say so?

Please correct me if I’m misunderstanding this, or if you need more clarification from me, thanks!

For the sake of understanding - Dagger

I’m writing this only to understand the players who find Dagger too strong (not just hate it but find it balanced/weak). This applies to both the weapon itself and its combination with Dash

I’ve played this game actively since season 4 and I’ve started out playing guns. Whenever I’d get killed by a dagger I’d be kinda annoyed thinking it was way too quick for me to react and just couldn’t figure out what to do about it. Some time later I saw a couple Dagger montages and got inspired to try it myself, and I’ve been running it since like season 5-6 until season 9. My peak rank is plat 4 (just a few points away from Diamond, sad) so I’m nowhere near the best players.

But the more I learned how to play dagger - the more I realized how much I wish to face a Dagger player when running a gun build, as opposed to facing another gun player. Not even running any cheesy dagger-countering gun builds. It just feels so nice to play around your distance from them, kinda like controlling the distance with jabs in boxing.
Yeah, it can be kinda upsetting to sometimes not be able to finish a Light off with them dashing away with 1 hp, but I always remind myself that I’m not entitled to a kill just cause I committed to shooting them. There’s a whole other person on the other side who does everything they can just to survive and escape from me, taking any chance they get to not die.

I also started paying more attention to how often I kill melee players (especially daggers, since I love playing it myself) versus how often they kill me, and when I consciously make an effort to do so - I notice how often I quickly beam them down without even realizing that it was a melee player, thinking that this guy was just distracted, or reloading (what I think is a gun when I don’t see which weapon they’re using) or just think “lmao what was he even trying to do here? I’m too far for that”

—-

From my current perspective - Dagger is on the weaker side. The higher in ranks you go the more people know how to counter you.
But even in lower ranks or casual modes - I personally think that EVERY player’s mentality and first thought when being destroyed by some weapon or playstyle should be “wow, that was quick. I must learn how to do that myself CONSISTENTLY”. Because you can occasionally do well with literally any weapon, so that isn’t a good way to judge.

Moreover, this is a great approach for any video game. Not even video game, but any activity that involves competing against other people

Many people hit a nice clip with a weapon and go “see? I’ve barely used it and I’m already popping off”but being consistently good is what can tell you if something is too strong or not. Most of the time when I try something new - I play very well for the first few attempts, and then oncr the initial “lock-in” state and luck wears off and you start to experience the lows along with the highs.

And because of that you also subconsciously learn how to counter a playstyle not just with your loadout, but also with your general movement, positioning and fight dynamics as a whole

The thing I’m trying to see with this post is if anyone else had a similar experience but came to a different conclusion than me, and why.

I’m looking for a civil discussion without insults, “I don’t like it so it’s op” from either side.
Thanks!

Edit: one more thing I forgot to add to describe my opinion.
I think the Dagger will become a lot more enjoyable to play with and against - when Embark fix the servers (duh, I know)
BUT I know there is a sentiment that the game is too small, Embark does not have resources for that, etc. Which causes people to kinda disregard this much-needed fix as something possible. This leads to them asking for other changes to Dagger to compensate for poor server quality, and while it might make them feel better in some fights - it’s just a band-aid that will expose this bleeding wound in some other way.

I really believe we MUST push Embark to improve servers before ANY changes to ANY melee weapon, Dash, Winch, etc.
There must be a strong foundation to make balance changes on because compensating for server issues with balance changes to in-game mechanics just moves the issue around without fixing it.

It’s like smearing dirt all over yourself, moving it from one part of the body to another, rather than taking a shower

Which phone to get?

Choosing between Oppo Reno 15/15Pro and Google Pixel 10(or any other around the same price point, which in my country is around $600-$700 max)

Which one would be the best long-lasting option with a great quality camera (for making photos for an online shop), solid performance and guaranteed software support for 5-7 years?

I’ve heard good reviews about Oppo Reno 15/pro but I’ve also heard people say that these don’t and won’t last longer than a few years and will be slowed down significantly which is a big issue for me

How complaints about melee players benefiting from poor hitreg/desync sound to me

Whenever someone here comments on a nice melee multi-kill clip that melee players get away with “bad skill/positioning/cheesy strats” because of desync and other crap and that they don’t deserve those kills - I immediately think of this image.

They complain about melee’s best-case scenarios and clips and force an opinion that this is everyday melee experience, while in reality the clips are posted precisely because they are quite a rare occurance. More often that not - melee players get fucked over by that same desync and poor hitreg.
