Hello all, fellow leukaemia survivor here (APL).

I wanted to start a discussion to share knowledge and research on potential direct causes of different types of leukaemia. Theories and not. Whatever is on your mind just lay it out. The truth is we might never find out but I thought it’d be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.

I know that APL is caused by translocation of chromosome 15 and 17. Direct cause I was told is either environmental or just genetic. It’s not inherited, there’s no known triggers and it’s not lifestyle linked. It’s hard for me to believe but it appears to be random, unless some day something gets discovered?

Hello to all my fellow APL patients, are there any here? I’m 2 years post diagnosis and have my last bmb in October this year.

I’m interested to hear if anyone else here had a first round of Idarubicin with ATRA? Did your side effects made you lose your mind? My memory is that I felt like k was tortured and experimented on. My body did weird and scary things to me…

Also any thoughts on what might be causing APL? Other than the generic “it’s a genetic transmutation occurring between 15 and 17 chromosome” I mean like what causes for that to happen? I would like to find out one day if the medicine and science ever gets there.

Heya everyone, our baby girl is 10 days old today and she started cluster feeding few days ago. Since then we’ve been feeding here on average every two hours a day. Since yesterday though on average she’s been asking to be fed every half an hour. That’s 20-24 times in a 24 hour cycle. Is that normal? I won’t even mention how mental this is making us but we begin to wonder if there’s something wrong.
