Mail call!
Scored my first copy for a buck so I wasn't too pressed about the sound quality and damage. The real issue was the skipping on what's clearly the best song on the album. Found a reasonably priced copy on discogs a few weeks ago and pulled the trigger. Currently spinning my new copy and it sounds AMAZING. Can't recommend this album enough if you haven't heard it.
Including some side by side picks of the $1 copy and my new arrival.
Peacski wiski...
I've been waiting on this mail call with peak anticipation. Outkast isnone of my favorite bands across all of music. I've been very disappointed with the modern pressings of their stuff I've heard. I've seen strong reviews on these VMP editions so I'm looking forward to putting them to the test!
Mail call!
I've been going down a rabbit hole of his albums and dude is so underrated IMO. I nearly copped this one off the cover alone. I did a little research and heard it's one of his most ambitious albums and an underrated gem of 70s soul. Can't wait to find out for myself.
Found a hell of a plug!
Came across a FB market post while on my lunch break. They were close by so we met up and man, this guy has a treasure trove of records and all in NM condition from what I can tell. Had to be responsible so I only walked away with this one for today. Can't believe I got this baby NM condition for $10! Will definitely be doing business with buddy again, especially since he's around the corner from my big bro.
Some weekend digs
Weirdly, I can't find a match for this pressing of Fulfillingness' to save my life. The sleeve, spine, label and runouts don't match any of the US or even foreign listings. OCD aside, glad to have a vintage copy of it!
Walking...
A little something from this weekend. This is, track per track, my favorite Denzel album and it's got a strong case for being his most complete body of work.
Classic material
Couldn't pass on this banger at my shop. Especially at this price!
Got one of my most wanted.
Won it in an eBay auction, can't beat an OG 98 pressing for less than $50. Sure, the sleeve ain't gonna win nare beauty pageants, but so far the discs are putting any modern Kast pressing I've heard thus far to shame. I got VMP pressings of Southernplay... and Stankonia on the way, we'll see how they hold up.
Bruiser...that's my crew!
A costly mail call, but worth it.
Well let's see how it goes...
Days of Future Passed hit like a ton of bricks, but Every Good Boy Deserves Favor was a swing and a miss. Perhaps this one will stick the landing. If nothing else I have another kick ass cover in my crate.
Today's dig
Always cool to find little random pieces of history inside LP sleeves. This one came with a postcard to join the "Universal Community of Truth". I've seen worse conversion methods.
🤷🏿♂️
Glad to have this joint. Shrines was actually the first album of theirs I heard.
While rap is my favorite genre of music it makes up the smallest percentage of my vinyl collection. My ultimate goal is to own all my favorite albums on vinyl one day.
First pic is my current vinyl collection thus far and the following are my CD collection. I've got a looooong way to go...
One to go! I've had a great run of luck lately. I got a good feeling about getting my hands on Chittlin' Circuit 1.5 for less than the price of a functioning kidney.
Copped this during the Revolution sale. A little treat for myself. Still holding out hope I can land a Panther swerve without paying an arm and a leg in the future.
One year ago today I started my vinyl journey. 300 LPs and 365 days later here I am. It's been a joy discovering new and rediscovering old favorites in this format.
The Wu dropped some really strong projects in the mid-aughts to early 2010s. Particularly Starks and Shallah. OB4CL II is rightfully lauded but this one is damn near as strong a body of work.
