Anyone else use the Minolta Maxxum 7000?

Hey there!

I just picked up my first film camera (that’s actually capable of taking pics), a Minolta Maxxum 7000. It came with 2 lenses, flash unit, original manual, and is in excellent working condition. Excited to dip my toes in!

I’d love to hear others opinions on it, so far I really like it’s ergonomics and how easy it is to operate coming from a modern platforms.

Camera film identification in Conley Junior (late 1910’s?)

Hey all!

I’ve had this Conley Junior kicking around for a while I thrifted. It had a stuck backplate, but I finally got it freed, and now seems to be in a rough-yet-functional state. Now I’m curious and looking for some info on it.

Would anyone be able to help me identify what kind of film it used? according to the Camera-wiki’s page, they used came in a few sizes like 120, 116, and 122/125.

I’m personally not very knowledgable on anything beyond the most popular formats, and would love some help.

If it helps, I believe this is a later model from 1917~ ish since it has a rounded body instead of a box body, black bellows, and lens mounted viewfinder.

Attached are pics and some measurements. If theres any more pics anyone would like to see let me know!

This ratty thrifted radio is so silly :3

I thrifted this radio for $20. Everything works excellent apart from the rewind and fast forward functions (sounds like just a slipping gear or something.)

However, I love the lo-fi sound that it gives, and the radio tuner works great too. Just a cute little thing thats a fun new way to enjoy tapes than a fancy sound system. (plus I can take this places too! hehe)

I can’t even find a model stamped anywhere on this. Still very pleased with it.

nearly all our registers/screens are down and we can’t even turn off mobiles :(

Right now we have a single POS for drive, no DPM or DTO station, and the drive person had to flip through a dozen different menus as they take orders and ring people up and find orders at the same time.

Having to take orders from the drive POS is also screwing up our stickers, and basically nothing is reliably printing.

Our cafe registers, with even double ringing can sometimes get a line out the door, is down to only 1 POS as well so it’s not like a barista on a headset can input orders from the spare cafe POS too.

We also had a no call no show opener so we’ve been behind all morning. It’s been hell, drive times are in the minutes, and our SM who isn’t scheduled today came in to help with damage control and get things straight for a bit.

They asked their higher up if we could go to cafe only for today or at least close mobile orders since we have far more customers than we’re physically able to ring up, and that was denied lol

Refresher with Ice, hold the ice.

Mini story time rant about the regular I hate the most at my store.

This middle aged couple comes in, usually 5 am or earlier but sometimes in the middle of peak, and orders two refreshers with like 8 scoops of inclusions, one butterfly one mango dragon. Okay, kinda annoying but reasonable.

Except, They always insist that you make the refreshers like normal, (aka shake it with the ice,) but then wants you to like strain the ice out and serve it to them as a drink without ice.

There’s also something always wrong with their refreshers too, whether it be not enough inclusions, too much base, too much mix, whatever. Also, they usually get trentas so you can’t just put the full volume of no ice liquid with ice in the shaker - adding an extra step.

They also watch you like a hawk, standing right next to the counter and staring you down as you make it.

Ultimately it’s not a huge deal, especially as I am an opener and have made their drinks often, but it’s a pain in the ass too, and really time consuming as far as refreshers go when it’s peak + having to explain it to basically anyone that makes it that isn’t me and a couple other openers that know it.

Venti rant - “Stellar” barista about to become my boss

hi all,

I’m currently on a 10 from my opening shift. It’s a 3 man until we get 2 more baristas at 7 am, and frankly there’s a lot for us to get done. We kinda need to be on our A game.

Our Shift lead, for the first hour ish, is in the back unpacking our order and is unavailable, so its left with me and A. Right at 4 am, I get to work calibrating our shots, making our mochas, teas, IC, etc. the typical drink side of opening.

Meanwhile, after 5 minutes of chatting in the back with out SL, it takes A 45 minutes to do the pastry case before they even start doing anything else related to warming. Fine, whatever, could be an off-day for them.

Now, the close last night was kind of a disaster, so theres a fair bit extra we need to stock and do compared to typical (not complaining to my closers, just a fact.) Now I don’t know how you all do your opens, but typically the warming will take drive as they restock their station whike the drinks barista, me, will handle general floor stocking, drink making, deliveries, etc.

I say typically, because A straight up REFUSES to to even just DTO while they take their sweet time meandering through restocking. (After they finished the Pastry case, they spent 20 minutes chatting with a customer that came in and not even multitasking. I get connecting, but seriously?)

At this point I’ve been effectively soloing the floor for like, 1 3/4 hours, when the SL comes back to send A on a break. (for what work? lol) except they end up chatting for 15. minutes, gossiping about a fired barista from like 2 months ago, as I’m actively struggling to make drinks. take orders, and prepare the floor, with both of them having headsets on and just doing nothing.

Keep in mind, A will “coach” me CONSTANTLY, and demand I change how I do things a thousand times a day despite no one else, even SM, having an issue with how I work. (we are both baristas, and I’ve been at the store longer.)

The cherry on top as they finish up their gossip is A comments about how if they were in the position of the fired barista, they would have “grounds to stand on, because I’m a stellar barista.”

The cherry to the cherry on top, is that this person is in training to become a new SL after transferring from another store and having been here for like 3 months lol

Please excuse the rambliness and many typos, I’m running out of time to post this before break ends.

TLDR;

Hypocritical stellar barista does nothing and leaves me to basically solo for 2 hours, then brags about how good they are

Name of song with lyrics about dying with a partner?

Hey all! I’ve been losing my mind trying to think of this song. I really can’t remember any lyrics specifically, but I think I remember the chorus saying something along the lines of “I don’t care id I live or die”, with the follow up lyrics relating that it would be okay with the romantic partner the song is about. I think I remember it being popular in some insta reels.

It was pretty upbeat, and i think it sounds very similar to the chorus of “Southern Nights” by Glen Campbell, right at the 1:00 mark.

Any ideas?

How to acquire companions I missed from random drops?

Hey! Kind of a new player here who really loves the watermole companions: i wasnt lucky with getting Nanu Nanu, Romba or the watermole slingman companions during their quests but my friend got lucky on the first defeat with getting the monquistador ones. I just wanted to know if i continue to try and farm the prisoner and the gortez fights if i will be able to get them or if they are only rewarded at random for defeating them the first time. And in talking about Nanu Nanu (who you get from fishy business, a quest i assume is non-repeatable) is he able to be gotten any other way besides the crown shop if i was unlucky the first time?
