Hello. I’m writing a story and I’m about two chapters in, the first chapter is the main time setting of the story but in the second chapter the narrator goes back to describe her past. I want to write more about her past but how long can I stray away from the present day before it gets confusing? I’m not sure how to ease between time settings because the character does a lot of recollection, and the story is in first person. If anyone could take a look at it I’d be very grateful! Okay so there’s this tiny riff that I’ve been trying to play for a while. It’s originally 150bpm and I’m only able to play at about 120bpm and not even flawlessly. Everyday I practice the same three second riff and when it seems like I’ve gotten faster I try to play the new speed I’ve learnt the next day and I can’t play it anymore and it seems like I’ve gotten worse and it’s driving me insane like I want to cry

it’s my picking that keeps messing up and can’t keep up with my fretting fingers and mostly I mess up the alternate picking parts. I keep practicing and gradually upping the speed but i keep getting worse and am not getting anywhere

And my hands can’t help but be tensed up and you can hear it through the playing so i guess after a few minutes my performance becomes poor because my hands are exhausted how can I stop this please help im going crazy

A stray gave birth in our closed backyard so we’ve been letting her stay there. Her kittens are like three days old and this morning my dad opened the door to feed her, she ran inside and attacked our cat completely ignoring his sister and they fought til the second floor.

Hello, my friends and I shot a four minute crime/comedy silent film and I want to make the music from scratch. Any ideas on where I could start? Any ongoing themes that occur in silent film music? How to smoothly transition sounds and/or imitate what’s on screen through music? I’m planning on using GarageBand or bandlab. Any help or tips on anything whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve noticed in some books I read (translated into English), quick dialogue is written without quotations or description, like this:

We walked past a music store. Do you play any instruments, I asked.

Instead of:
“Do you play any instruments?”, I asked.

Like it’s just written in the text without sectioning it off into a paragraph or anything. I’ve noticed it’s in translated works so maybe because the language it was originally written in uses that technique? And I actually enjoy it, is it something I can use myself or is it incorrect?

Hello, I have some white wooden furniture from ikea and I want brown furniture, but I think throwing everything out and buying is wasteful, what’s a good way I can stain or change them so they’re dark brown? Any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay so this is just a book put together by some guy that we use in my country for entrance exams, so it’s nothing too detailed or anything but in the light chapter of physics, it says this:
Yellow+blue=green so yellow is a complementary color for blue

So I thought this explanation was wrong because complementary colors in light means what makes white light so saying =green doesn’t work here but I asked his team and they said it’s correct?

Hello I want to make a bookend out of air dry clay, Ive dealt with it before but like I’m not skilled or anything and I would appreciate some tips!

I’m trying to make it the shape of the Aphex twin logo + I want it fully solid so it is strong enough to hold up books but I’m wondering if there’s another way to fill it or should I just make it completely out of clay? And how do I prevent cracking and is clay even durable or should I use something else to make it!

Okay, I know it’s difficult, and I’ve already mentally prepared myself for it, and I am a very resilient person and have had many falls and gotten back up again which is the only thing that is telling me I’ll be okay.
The problem is the high school I’m graduating from is very shitty and so im probably not as educated or developed as others, I have gotten high scores on my college entrance exams so I am able to get accepted into the major but I just don’t know if I’m actually capable. I’ve seen some say to not go into it if you don’t have any prior experience or knowledge, and starting from scratch is impossible (?)
Online they make it seem like a nightmare, but I’ve noticed that for a lot of things it ends up being doable and everyone was just being a little too dramatic. I don’t have a “passion” for it but I’m also not in the place of privilege to pick a major of my liking. I live in Saudi Arabia, and I’m a female if that matters. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!
