Why do so many Lois fans seem to want everyone except Lois to be Lois? 🤔

Why do so many Lois fans seem to want everyone except Lois to be Lois? 🤔

Ive always found this hilarious.

For years I've seen them argue that Chloe should've actually been Lois... or that Lana should've eventually become Lois.

And every time I read one of those takes, I end up wondering...

Do you guys actually like Smallville's Lois?

Because as a Lana fan, I've never once wished Lana was secretly Lois lmaooooo thats absurd. I like her because she's Lana. I love her story, her relationship with Clark, and the role she plays in the series AS LANA!

Same with Chloe. She's not even one of my favorite characters, but I'd never want her rewritten into someone else just to "improve" another character.

That's why I've always found this desire so strange.

If Chloe has to inherit Lois's identity...
If Lois has to inherit Lana's romance...
If Lois constantly needs someone else's history or emotional significance/impact...

...then what exactly is so great about Smallville's Lois on her own?

It always feels like an admission that the writers gave other characters the storylines and impact lois' fans actually wanted for lois, lmaooooooo, like, never in my life have i ever wanted lana to switch place with lois, i love lana and her story and her journey and i would not chnage a thing... lois/cloi's "fans" (its in quotes because if they were fans, they's life lois and clois the way they are lmaoo) solution becomes trying to transfer those storylines back onto Lois after the fact.

If you're happy with the Lois and the clois the show gave you, why is there such a recurring desire to rewrite someone else into being her?

I don't actually think some of y'all like Smallville's Lois.

I think you like the Lois Lane IP more than you like Smallville's actual version of Lois, you like the idea, the entity, the brand of Lois Lane. (mind you, i dont know anything about any other lana lang, i only care about the Smallville version lmaooo)

Because if you genuinely loved this version of Lois and this version of Clois, you wouldn't constantly be trying to graft Chloe's history onto her, or wishing she had Lana's romance with Clark.

At some point, it stops sounding like praise for Lois and starts sounding like an admission that the show gave the biggest emotional moments, the defining romance, and the strongest history with Clark to other characters.

And instead of accepting that... the solution becomes, "Well, what if they were actually Lois?"

As a Lana fan, I've never once thought, "You know what would make Lana better? If she stopped being Lana."

That thought has literally never crossed my mind.

So every time I see "Chloe should've been Lois" or "Lana should've been Lois," I can't help but laugh.

Because to me, it doesn't come across as confidence in Lois.

It comes across as wishing she'd had someone else's story, and its a bit pathetic to me, tbh.

Lana Lang - the only woman Clark Kent from Smallville ever truly loved.

can you blame him?

u/LauraKay9 — 26 days ago

clark kent went from experience the happiest moment of his life when lana said yes, to experiencing the most traumatic, seeing lana die - Smallville Homecoming

reckoning *

reckoning was everything and more. just superb television and emotionally devastating.

One minute, Clark is finally living the future he's always dreamed of. The next, he's holding the love of his life after watching her die in front of him, completely powerless.

It's one of the biggest emotional whiplashes in Smallville, and Tom Welling absolutely sells every second of it.

seeing him lose lana was so heartbreaking.

some of the best acting from tom in the entire series

clark and lana gave us so many epic moments. i will always remember reckoning as this emotionally devastating masterpiece.

a Dark Clark would have been so menacing and cool.

i would have loved to see a Dark Clark on the main timeline for a long storyline at least

Does a couple have to be endgame to be considered the defining romance of a story?

do you think a relationship has to be endgame to be considered the defining romance of a story?

because i don't think those are automatically the same thing.

i feel like certain fandoms often treat "endgame" and "most important relationship" as if they're interchangeable, but i'm not convinced they are and never have been.

there are plenty of stories where the relationship that leaves the biggest emotional impact isn't the one that lasts to the end.

curious to hear what everyone thinks, both in smallville and in other fictions more generally.

this devastating scene is exactly why Clana will always be my favorite couple - Smallville (THREAD)

they spent years fighting to be together, and when they finally had the chance, they're forced into this heartbreaking conversation where clark knows lana doesn't mean a word she's saying, and lana knows he knows.

this scene hurts because neither of them believes the words coming out of lana's mouth.

clark doesn't believe a single word she's saying because he knows her too well. he can see she's lying.

and lana knows him well enough to know he can see right through her. she can barely get the words out because she knows exactly what she's doing to the person she loves most.

they're both standing there completely heartbroken, pretending something neither of them believes.

they're having two completely different conversations. with eyes, and another with words

"i've waited for you... what happened?"

"i've wanted this more than anything. i love you."

they both know the truth. they both know they're not saying what they actually feel. they're trapped, and that's what makes it so devastating.

and you can literally see them both breaking.

the longing. the restraint. the pain on both of their faces.

every emotion is written all over them.

because the emotional weight is unbelievable.

this is exactly the kind of angst i live for.

inject this kind of angst directly into my veins!!

this is why clana will always be my favorite.

also, this would be nothing without Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling's unbelievable chemistry

u/LauraKay9 — 1 month ago

today is the last day Black Star, vol 1, the comic book by the talented kristin kreuk is avail for pre order!

i already got mine!

don't get me wrong, i appreciate Lex Luthor being the first clana cheerleader, but why was this 20 year old in these kids' love lives/business? its so funny - Smallville

i always appreciate lex rooting for clark and lana together, but they honestly should hage made him younger or something 😭😭
