Seriously impressed with the LHP531 1400+ lumens for almost an hour and 3000 lumens for 30 seconds.

Been EDCing this beast for a couple weeks and it's shockingly usable. Good beam pattern, good tint, ok CRI and super efficient. Guys this is the emitter to get.

Booster converter for 12 to 30 volts and BMS solution for a 3s or 4s pack.

I have this UV Gel light I really like but it its corded which is a hassle. I don't have one station and float around the salon with a cart. I'd like to convert this CND gel light to cordless. Yes they do make cordless ones now and I can easily justify the price but they don't seem to last very long while this one is pushing 8 years old.

So in preliminary fitting I can squeeze 3 or 4 18650 cells into the bottom case, circled in the last pic. The power requirement is about 30 watts, shown by the sticker on the bottom. This seems to be in line with commercially available products which also use 3s1p packs.

I theory I can get some high performance 18650s to handle 30 watts but I don't know where to start with the boost converter solution. Ideally they should compact and all in solution. TYPE C charging would be and absolute luxury but not necessary. Any suggestion for such a board would be appreciated.

I can solder and 3d print but can't design boards.

Local School board member campaigns for re-election like he running for congress.

A few years ago he tried to enact a policy where teachers must inform the parents if their kids are trans, as if it is enforceable at all. This guy is cringe incarnate.

Shorty S6 with the knockoff Thrym clip is GTG.

The fit is great with the o-ring but the clip itself is kinda flimsy, hey it's 4 dollars. The clip body has a flat spot for a syringe to hold, so it is actually quite ergonomic. Now that I've proven its usefulness, I'll go ahead and order the real deal for my other S2.

Is the Convoy S2+ copper battery tube, unreliable?

My copper S2 can be very unreliable. When I take it out of my pocket. Sometimes it just won't turn on. I racked my head thinking what it could be. I have tightened all the retaining rings, checked all the solder joints on the switch and pill. For the last few days I switched the copper battery to an aluminum one I had laying around. And it's been completely reliable for the last few days. Today I switched back to the copper battery tube but still wouldn't work. I had the idea to wire brush the threads and the end of the battery tube and now it works again. Does anybody else have issues with the copper battery tubes not being very reliable? Is oxidation forming over the part that's not clear coated?

Convoy's freebie when you order a battery

I ordered a Convoy S6 and I was pissed as hell when this showed up. The quality of was nowhere close to the quality of my s2. What the hell Simon. Well I didn't dig deep enough to find the actual S6 this was just the container used for the extra battery I ordered.

How much bullshit is it to sell a pistol on GunBroker as an individual??

I like to get rid of some pistols that I have to put towards something else that I want. I'm researching how to sell a gun on GunBroker and there seems to be a lot of hoops to jump through as an individual.

Payment: how does payment work on GunBroker? I understand that Gun broker does not handle the payment and I have to go through a third party such as gun tab. That's fine but then do I have to pay gunbroker directly their percentage?

Shipping: this seems to be the biggest hurdle for me, I understand that USPS will ship a rifle but not a handgun. FedEx and UPS will pistols but not from unlicensed individuals. So how do I ship pistols? Some people suggest shipmygun.com but they have really low ratings for some reason. It seems that GunBroker has an agreement with UPS but they will only do next day air and that seems expensive. Does anybody have any experience shipping with UPS from GunBroker directly? Do I have to drop off the package with an official UPS store or a franchise store or can I do it with any authorized shipping partner? Does anyone else have any other options? I've tried to call around local gun stores and they do not want to mess with shipping.

It all seems very complicated with lots of hoops to jump through. Is it worth it to sell sub thousand dollar items via gunbroker? Or should I just take the L and sell it to a local pawn shop?

Does the [Wuben X5](https://www.wubenlight.com/?ref=tmovkrss) addresses Flatlight's biggest issue? Removable batteries? (Affiliate Link)

Wuben reached out to me review the new Wuben X5, so I enthusiastically replied hell yes. I a big fan of flatlights and fan of Wuben too, but is it enough to dethrone my current EDC, the Nitecore EDC17?

My first flatlight was the Streamlight wedge, and that scratch the itch for a while. I was hooked on the form factor but functionality and UI was lacking on the wedge. All thought its advertised as a 1000 lumens light its realistically a 350 lumens light with a 1000 lumens boost for 30 seconds. Good enough for night walks but having to hold the switch for 30 seconds was quite annoying when trying to spot critters at the tree line.

I finally jumped on the Olight bandwagon with the ArkPro but returned it few days later. I liked the kitchen sink mentality but found the UI immensely annoying and beam artifact distracting. I hate how the different modes didn't have their own memory and the laser was way off kilter, it was so off kilter that pointing with a finger was more accurate. That and the fact that a friend's Olight pistol light kinda blew up next to his dick soured my trust in Olight's QC

When Nitecore released the EDC 17 it seemed perfect. The beam is a medium spot, the laser was true and the UV was perfect for my job, spot curing UV resin. The side switch interface was quick and accident proof. But there is a elephant to address in the room, batteries.

The biggest down side of flatlights are the non replaceable batteries.

The Wuben X5 is has all the core functionality of my EDC17 but with replaceable batteries and a novel UI.

Lets talk about the UI:

The Wuben X5 has tail 2 buttons, a dedicated laser button and a 2 stage button for the main emitter. There is also a dial on the side to select UV, lock, and White light. They dial is self explanatory but the tail button are a more interesting. The laser button is single stage and is always available unless locked. One click turns it on, one click turns it off. The main power button is 2 stage. Half click is momentary on. A full click keeps it on. When on, a half click changes through 4 modes. 2 rapid half click will activate strobe mode and a full click again turns it off. One issue I had is that I keep accidentally activating the strobe while cycling through the modes. I have to deliberately slow down while cycling through the modes. Another quirk is that when full pressing the light to turn off it that it will cycle to the next mode then turn off but it will remember the mode you were using. On UV it is only one mode.

The white light:

Wuben claims 1300 lumens using the included 1200 mah li-ion battery and my crude ceiling bounce test seems to confirm that. The beam shape is comparable to the Stream light wedge but warmer. My calibrated eye ball suggest its about 4500 - 5000k.

The Gimmicks:

Wuben X series has a cool Gundam aesthetic to them. Its also feels like the best built flatlight I have. The machining is crisp and all the moving parts fits perfectly. Wuben really refined the haptics and clickiness. The USB port cover slide into its detent like the safety on a Beretta 92. The battery cover latch operates like a bolt release on a AR-15, except instead of letting the bolt close, it launches the battery out. The lanyard is actually a USB Type C cable and it's decently fast. I tested it with my phone and it at least reached 15 watts. And finally the main gimmick with this light is the dual fuel capability. It can take 4xAAA batteries in place of the Li-Ion Battery and still pushing 900 lumens. Im quite impressed at that.

My nitpicks:

The UI is so close to being flawless. I never use the strobe and I wished Wuben would've left it off. It would've made the mode faster to cycle through. I wished the laser button was on the side like Olight ArkPros. I think the second rear button is wasted on just the laser. I also wished there was direct moonlight mode without cycling through the mode, perhaps a half click is always moonlight or low. I also wish there was a direct turbo shortcut like double clicking the power button. Maybe they could've have implemented reverse charging for the phone? IDK that one seems hard to do considering it might be running on AAA's sometimes plus I don't know of another flat light that does that.

Overall this thing has earned a spot on my Battle belt. Its also perfect for my go bag. The Dual Fuel is a big plus for long term storage. The clip is excellent and reversible (a big irk I have with my Nitecore EDC17's is that the clip is not reversible)
