The Rotten - A Consequence of Necromancy and War

Pictured above is a Rotten, which was placed to rest afterwards.

The Rotten are caused by gross misuse of Necromancy, which is a form of organic life overtaken by Magerot, where the Magerot continues to maintain the spells originally used to animate the organic tissue through some unknown means, and instead of a soul maintaining the state of life, it is the magic itself doing so, as such, it can be extremely hard to put to rest, and have to be completely obliterated to prevent it from reanimating.

Noting that, humans are not the only species to turn into The Rotten, but any organic life can be reanimated in this form. This can, in most cases, result in fauna and plant life becoming Rotten.

It serves as a horrible reminder of our past and to leave the Great Mage War behind, which left a region infested with Magerot and The Rotten, with a still active Magerot Storm, they are most active here, with progress to bring balance to this land slow and steady.

For this reason, this use of necromancy for full reanimation is entirely forbidden. Limited to only the most of experienced of Mages in cases of restoring life to necrotic tissue.

I'm planning to write more for the Mages after this, along with the greater world later on.

Could any other series come close to depicting the backrooms as well as Kane?

Not saying this example is as good, just picked something out for the post.

I haven't watched a lot of the other series, some take it in a very unique direction, one that I can't remember the name of even had non-euclidean spaces, and didn't even have monsters, just technology that roamed around, and eventually chased down the protagonist

After watching The Fly (1986), I couldn't help but think that Adam Driver could pull off Seth Brundle if it got a remake

And for the sake of discussion, what would you like to see if the story got a remake?

I'd love to keep it set in 1986, keep the practical effects without trying to recapture Cronenburg, because who could even do that? And I'd kill off Stathis.

What are some must watch films when getting into writing horror?

I've been trying to get into writing horror for a while now and I felt I should ask what I should watch for inspiration, or just to watch something good. I don't have a specific style in mind beyond things with body horror, but it doesn't need to be just that either. (No I'm not sharing anything I'm writing)

Which slasher would be the worst at killing?

Not even just in terms of a really small kill count, just actually bad at taking kills.
