Honest respectful discussion to be had here?

Hello fellow Canadians both long time and new commers.

I want to sincerely ask what happened.

I grew up in Northern AB and I'm a POC. My family has lived in Canada for almost 200 years.

I grew up with racism and discrimination but I feel it's gotten worse.

I feel there is a lack of understanding and patience and don't even get me started on the homophobia.

I moved to QC been here for a decade now. I am fluent in French (learned before coming here) and I find even here it's terrible.

The mentality of people is sickening.

  1. Why is it that Quebecois tend to shit on other french speakers?

  2. Why is it that when I've met other Canadians abroad (from Ontario to Alberta when I have traveled) they aren't shocked to see someone from their homeland? I mean let's face it we aren't the best or well travelled. And no mexico and Cuba and USA Resorts don't count.

  3. Aside from Quebec, how to other french Canadian people feel? Do you feel Canada can do better in terms of services in other provinces in french? I'm curious.

  4. English people, what's your thoughts on french here in Canada?

  5. Why don't we as Canadians strive to unite and better our country? Why don't we figure out a system together that decreases the cost of living?

  6. What's with all the hate towards cyclists? I know many don't follow the rules of the road but many cars don't either.

  7. What is the major pain with the cost of living now? I find in QC for example it's food. Food is extortion. You have to take out mortgage for food. It never used to be this way.

No hate at all just curious.

Looking to move to Ottawa

Hello friendly people of Ottawa. I currently live in Montreal and I want to move from here after 10 years. My boyfriend and I are thinking of Ottawa and I have some questions that Google isn't providing.

  1. What are some of the neighborhoods and vibes?

  2. We both don't have a license how easy is it to get around via transit and bike?

  3. How's cost of living ? What are some things that Ottawa would have that others won't and visa versa?

  4. How does one find an apartment as I can't seem to find one that's under 2000$.

I'll add more questions if I think of any but these are my main ones.

33 M ,166 cm 86kg help

Hi everyone I'm looking to get back in shape. I was in good shape before 2020 and then I packed on weight. I used to be 100 kg but now I'm at 85 kg. I have high blood pressure and I wanna loose weight to get rid of the high BP.

I bike and walk daily but it's the getting to the gym that I have issues with. I eat relatively well. Starting to do more meal prep. I'm not wanting to become the next gym influencer but I do wanna get my weight down to 75 kg or even 68 kg.

Any suggestions. I've been trying to cut out sugar and Salt but it's in bloody everything in high quantities in Canada.

Kunnen jullie mij helpen

Hallo,

As my time in the Netherlands comes to an end, I reflect on my journey . I leave knowing what an amazing country this is. Heartbroken that it ended so quickly. I'm not ready to return yet.

There are things that make you question the world here. You see the beautiful old buildings and think of the stories behind them. You get out of the Randstad and see the real country for what it is.

I was lucky enough to have so many Dutch people (many of whom I am related to or friends with) show me around this magnificent place.

It is a place animals feel welcome. Kids grow up almost worry free.

I'm not saying the Netherlands is perfect but damn they have got it close.

A typical afternoon in the city or town with borreltjes. Montreal says we have terrasse culture but the Netherlands takes it to a next level.

The trains which the most common delay max I have dealt with is 30 mins (which is extremely rare). The bike paths and roads and knowing that people stop and allow you to cross over to the other side of the street.

There is something special about saying Goedemiddag mevrouw een koffie aub. And she serves it with a smile.

There is something nice about a child smiling at a random stranger explaining that at 3 years old she has a new red bike and isn't afraid to explain her opinions.

To see the Turkish and Moroccan immigrants and the Surinamese and Antilliaanse and everyone else make up amazing place.

It's nice to not be rushed. Things move a bit slower here.

I say this from the bottom of my heart as one greatful Canadian who holds the Dutch people and the country deep in my Heart.
