My neighbor has two aggressive dogs that have attacked multiple people

My next door neighbor has two dogs that are super aggressive and untrained. They bark for hours, every single day. One of them bit my husband on the thigh when he went around to speak to the neighbor, this left a bruise (he didn't tell the neighbor as he was trying to establish good relations with these people). When I went round there, the owner told me to put my hands behind my back "because they'll bite you if you don't".

Just yesterday my across the street neighbor told me that while we were on vacation, one of these dogs attacked the owner's elderly mom, biting her finger to the bone (this nice neighbor is a nurse, she bandaged her up and sent her to the ER for stitches). A few days before that the dogs got out of the house and tried to attack another elderly woman who was walking a small dog on our street. The owner saw this happen, and offered to pay for any damage to the woman and her dog (SMH).

My kids don't like to play in our own backyard as every time they do, these gross dogs bark and growl at them, pressing their noses against our fence (I'm really scared that they'll find a way through the fence one day).

Living next to these beasts feels like a total liability. I feel like I am waiting for them to die--frankly, they should have been euthanized a long time ago. The barking alone has a major impact on my quality of life as I WFH. These neighbors are very wealthy so they could have afforded training, but now they've attacked humans I feel like it's too late. If I call the police or animal control they will know it's me and it will be hugely awkward, forever (my kid is in the same class as their kid) and we all know how crazy dog people can be. WWYD?

Paddington tickets?

Hi all, my kids and I are making a last-minute trip to London (arriving on Monday for a week, back again early August for another few days) and the little ones are pleading with me to take them to see Paddington. Of course the tickets are all sold out, and I have no idea how to make this wish come true. Any advice as to how I can try to get hold of tix? Really appreciate any advice.

Teenaged diagnosed with autism

Posting this in a state of overwhelm (no judgment, please). My 13 YO son was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago, he has a 504 plan in school and at the diagnosing psychologist's advice, we've done some talk therapy and tried to manage it with sports etc. Since entering his teens my son has struggled more with self regulation and executive function so we had a full neuropsychological evaluation done before trying ADHD meds. Lo and behold, the testing showed no ADHD at all, and instead he has been diagnosed with level one autism.

My husband and I are in shock and consumed with guilt as it seems that "early intervention" is critical with autism. The neuropych said to try ABA but are we too late? Is it helpful for teens? What can we do to help our kid? My older child had a shocking medical diagnosis last year and I'm only just able to sleep again after that. This has thrown me into a spiral.

Thanks in advance for any advice and understanding.

JFC I cannot with these dog nutters any more...

I keep seeing articles about pet loss/bereavement (apparently the loss of a dog is equivalent to the loss of a beloved human relative, hmmmmm) and under each of these posts there are always multiple people claiming that a dog's death is the same as losing a child. In fact one woman said she's lost both a child and her pet, and she grieved more for the dog than for her own kid. These "dogs' deaths hurt more than child losses" posts always get hundreds of likes.

What the fuck is wrong with people? This is SO offensive and just plain wrong. I lost pets I loved before and yes it's sad when they die but you move along with your life. Dog nutters can just go to the shelter to pick up another slobbering dependent, whereas bereaved parents are trapped in a lifetime of heartache. Which psycho seriously thinks a dog is the same as a child?

Do people who lose dogs wake up, hysterically crying, several years after their freaking hound dies? I'm starting to think maybe they do. This is in addition to all the creeps who regularly post that dogs are better than kids, that public spaces should all be dog friendly but child free, and that they'd pay to sit next to a dog on a plane but they freak out when they see a "crotch goblin" in their cabin.

It's gross, and wrong, and I feel like we're in such a small minority to worry about this shit and the future of society. Again, what the fuck is wrong with everyone?

Feeling lost

My 13 YO son has ADHD, it was diagnosed 3 years ago and we've been trying to manage it without meds as he was doing well in school before, and the "issues" were mainly dealt with at home. Now it's becoming apparent that he needs more help, as his impulsivity and total lack of focus is impacting his friendships and getting him in trouble at school. He's constantly fighting with his siblings and honestly, it's affecting our whole family dynamic. I hate that everyone is mad with him for a good portion of the day (and I have tried very hard to carve out 'special time', I even coached his sports team and make sure to have 1-1 time each night before bed). He seems to be caught in a 'negative attention' loop and I'm at a loss. We've called neuropsych testing places and they all want $8-10k. The psychiatrists we've spoken to say he doesn't need that, but the psychologists insist we do. How do we even go about this? Is it:

Neuropsychological testing to see if there are other co-issues at play (I suspect there are)

Psychiatrist to try meds (I'm SO scared of this, he's already underweight and incredibly headstrong/defiant, he is very much anti taking medication)

Regular psychologist appointments? I don't even know how to fit all of this in, let alone pay for it as none of these people near us take insurance. At this point we'll have to do whatever it takes to help him, I love this kid with every fiber of my being but his behavior is pushing us all to our limit : (

So.... my partner forgot to buy tickets for today (ughhh!) Is there any way of getting hold of a pair? Stubhub only has insanely overpriced (1k plus) options.
