Can someone explain the reason why the term “Arab” is so divisive?
When the Muslim Caliphate expanded, it brought its language to the ancestors of the Middle Eastern Peoples. And to this day they largely speak Arabic. That is the textbook definition of what an Arab is. Someone whose ancestors spoke the Arabic Language.
When I hear someone online say they’re not an Arab. It makes me scratch my head because it’s weird to me that it’s definitionally disconnected from the term. They further explain that they’re not from the “Gulf” and then I think “Oh, they’re saying they’re not ARABIANS”
Can someone explain the context of this issue? Am I getting something wrong? Is it a big misunderstanding on my part because of certain nuances in the Arabic Language that I may not understand? Or has the word “Arab” evolved to encompass the term “Arabian”
8oz Lace up Glove Suggestions?
I’m a new fighter and I plan to fight Featherweight and I’m looking for some gloves that aren’t too expensive but very nice. 150-200 USD would be my budget for them. I plan to use them for ironing out technique issues without fatiguing my shoulders too much, as my current gloves are Fairtex BGV9 16oz ( Love those gloves btw )
So what should I go for? I was thinking the Everlast Powerlock OG but I’ve heard bad things about Everlasts quality.
Possible End Game
In all honesty, Ricardo is the final challenge as he is the inverse of Ippo. Both started boxing to become “Strong” but Ricardo frequently shows that he robs people of their hearts and exhausts them as fighters, while Ippo inspired his opponents to reach greater heights.
In my opinion, Sendo will probably lose to Ricardo and I kinda want him to get the Mashiba treatment of having either permanent disabilities or possibly die. Leaning toward the latter outcome because it needs to be an insane shock to Ippo to actually get him back in the ring and finally accept the baton that Date gave him.
Upon hearing that Ippo will make a comeback, Miyata’s performance and fighting spirit invigorates to a level we have never seen. Since the OPBF is a affiliated division of the WBC, and Miyata has defended his belt against highly ranked competitors for a long time, he vacates his belt to challenge the WBC Featherweight champion (Insert some Floyd Mayweather type Boxer who has the greatest defensive ability second only to Martinez ) and Miyata defeats him after a grueling match, proving to his dad that his style truly was world champion material. This match would’ve taken place after Ippo had won a few comeback matches and recapturing his JBC belt or risen in the global rankings.
After this, Miyata publicly challenges Ippo for the WBC Featherweight championship. Kamogawa advises Ippo to take the fight because it will make the path to Martinez a lot shorter as the WBC champion could challenge the WBA champion. Ippo and Miyata settle their rivalry once and for all on the grandest stage. Ippo wins of course, and Kamogawa finally fulfills the promise he made to Yuki, that a fighter that inherited his spirit became a world champion. Although, Ippo is unsatisfied, because the fight ended due to stoppage from the doctor as Miyata collapsed from the accumulated damage of weight cutting for years and Ippo’s absurd technical ability. In the end, Miyata never overcame or matched Ippo and he accepts that fact, finally retiring after a lucrative and incredible career of prideful counters.
Ippo however, presses on as WBC Champion and issues the Challenge to WBA Champion Ricardo Martinez. From there Ippo beats him and Morikawa can finally tell us what it means to be strong in his own words.
This….this is what I’d like the endgame of Ippo to be. This isn’t the exact story I’d like because I kinda cut out major ideas for the sake of making a cohesive plot line to digest. But some other ideas that could be thrown in is:
- Mashiba Spar for the Miyata match
- Confrontation and Resolution to the Kumi romance
And some other possible story beats to wrap up everyone else’s character arcs like Takamura’s title track, Kimura’s wish to be JBC champ, Itagaki making his way to a good future boxing career, etc.
What do yall think? Am I stupid or is this a good idea? Lemme know what tweaks yall would make and feel free to call me a dumbass if I’m drinking the cope juice.
Has anyone tried Fuego’s gloves?
I’ve heard all over that their boots are incredible, but has anyone tried their boxing gloves that they made with the Ippo collaboration? I’m not interested in purchasing them but I’m curious as to the quality of the broader range of products.
So I decided to spring for the new Laufey cassette cause I enjoy her music and I’ve only been using cassettes on and off for about a year ( my collection is decent but not exactly the best )
I was listening to side a for about a day, just rewinding and playing it over and over on my FiiO CP13 and when I finally decided to flip it over to side b there was this terrible sound in my left earphone, Like TV static.
I thought maybe my FiiO was being difficult, so I tried other players ( I had my old WaR Player, same problem ) then I checked my other tapes to see if the problem was present and I didn’t see any issue.
I dunno if my players are ass or if the cassette itself is being difficult. So….whats the solution?
( P.S. I’m not the most mechanically savvy, I can’t really take apart the players to lubricate something or replace a bad pinch opening. )
