[KBO] Day 1 of posting picks every evening (well, except Sundays)

[KBO] Day 1 of posting picks every evening (well, except Sundays)

The good thing about betting on the KBO (Korean Baseball Organization) is

  1. You can make your bets at night, go to bed and wake up to the results

  2. Because it's a relatively small betting market, I don't think the lines are very sharp. I follow the Hanwha Eagles and think there's an edge to be had here

Anyways, here's my picks for today!

Just saw the most bizarre hand at 1/2

Guy in UTG opens, Button 3! for like $70. UTG calls and flop is AT8 rainbow. UTG checks, button bets $120, UTG tanks and jams for like 600 total. Button was clearly bluffing as he thinks about what to do, eventually says "whatever I'm pot committed" (bro wtf you're not) and calls. Runout is K and Q (AKQT8) UTG looks defeated and says you're good. Button flips over 77. UTG was about to muck, sees the hand and reveals 98 suited. Button storms out, UTG starts talking about how he felt like he had a read and that the opponent didn't like the Ace on the flop.

Guess you should never be suprised playing low stakes, literally anything can happen LOL

Does anybody know why Lee is batting 5th?

Hi all, I'm a fan from South Korea. I don't want to make it about one player but I do want the Giants to win as much as anyone else here. To me it seems like Lee should be higher up in the batting order. He's not a big OBP or SLG guy but has good baserunning speed and has been getting 2 hits a game for what feels like a month, making a good candidate for #2 or #3? And then the home run hitters can come in 4-5.

Edit) Also, is there a good chance of him making All-Stars this year? Not familiar with the MLB system. Thanks!

What is your worst bad beat story?

Once I was playing at a home game about 2.5k effective. Every dealer change we would do a double board bomb, pot limit, with two hole cards. One hand, I'm on the button with 98 and the boards come 998 and 765. As if it couldn't get any better there is a pot and a re-pot and I shove all-in. Both players call, one has A9 and the other has 76. First turn is an Ace, second turn is a 7 and I am drawing dead on both. Haven't played at a home game since lol

I used to tell people that poker wasn't gambling, then I transitioned to PLO

... and I don't know if I can truthfully say that anymore.

You put in money at blackjack table knowing you will get 1:1 with about 49% chance.

You put in money at PLO knowing you will get about 2~3 to 1 with your flush draws, wraps, sets..

And then there's the degens that push any 4, plus the people who min buy for 25 or 50BBs and shove if there's enough people pre. I mean at that point, going to spin roulette probably gives better odds / equity than your J752.

Yes, there's some actual skill involved in PLO unlike gambling but the distinction is definitely way less than holdem.

New fan from Korea & BK Kim?

Hi all! I'm from South Korea and recently moved to Arizona for college. I love professional sports and excited to follow the Diamondbacks, especially since one of our greatest pitchers ever played for this team! He's pretty old but I wonder if you guys remember Byung Hyun Kim?

According to our national news it seems like the team signed a Korean SS out of high school, dude is a legit prospect that would have went #2 in the draft, two way player but a better infielder / hitter than pitcher imo. Hope to see him in the Majors in 4 years! Being in the division with the Dodgers kinda sucks but definitely better outlook than the football team here who are apparently expected to finish last.

(Online) If you're relatively new to holdem, I highly suggest playing some PLO

I play mainly on WPT Gold, used to be a losing player in cash games but would crush tournaments. I transitioned over to PLO and it definitely fit my style, became very profitable for me. The reason I recommend PLO to less experienced holdem players is because I believe it strongly reinforces some of the most essential and fundamental aspects of Poker in general.

  1. Playing in position -> Yes, anyone that's listened to more than one poker coaching video has probably heard that position is important. But exactly how well do we incorporate that into our game? I'll admit I was one of those players that would play small pocket pairs in early position. Once you experience PLO, you begin to realize how insanely stressful it is playing OOP. Currently I feel like I'm folding 90% of hands in the SB against BB and in the BB against an open with no callers.
  2. Attacking capped ranges -> To me this is the biggest thing that can boost a player's win rate but is not being done nearly enough. It is very easy and simple to play tight passive, it takes no skill to bet strong hands and extract value. But applying pressure in certain spots is important to not being predictable, and realizing when you opponent is capped and forcing them into tough spots is key. This is also a characteristic of PLO (because the bet limit is capped to pot, there is less slow playing and checking often caps their hand strength).
  3. Discipline -> Playing bad hands will obviously get you in trouble at NLH as well but it is much more magnified in PLO. Very often you will flop dominated sets, two pairs and straight & flush draws that will cost you your stack.
  4. Stronger mentality! -> And lastly, PLO is a game of pushing equities and being all in very often. Therefore the variance is much higher and you will experience huge swings. I think it will help deal with bad beats once you return to holdem because they will be nothing new, just part of the game.

Anybody here play full time on WPT Gold?

Been profiting for a while and considering just transitioning full time. I guess the worry would be the site getting banned from my state or people running out of money (considering how fast they punt, could be possible 😂).

Steady winner at PLO 1/2/4 but been playing more .2/.5/1 cause the difference in skill level is just massive. No stress and probably don't even need to think been doing 4 tables on autopilot

Is there a reason Korean Broadcast highlights are often featured here?

I'm from South Korea and been lurking on this sub ever since you guys signed Lee. I always thought it was hilarious that people would upload Korean broadcast calls. Happy to see Jung Hoo tear it up, he's not a superstar here because he played on a small market team but has definitely grown in popularity. Hopefully the Giants can play in Korea like the Dodgers Padres opening day.

Are we allowed to play with friends on the same table?

My buddy just joined the site, first person I know IRL to play here. I'm assuming it's fine to sit at the same table?
Would probably be low stakes PLO

Crazy hero call in the 530 PLO yesterday

Villain opens to 4BB, checks flop, bets 4.5BB on the turn and jams river. I ruled out AA and KK with the flop check, and thought that the line he took was very polarized to QQxx or AKxx with hearts. The biggest fear was losing to AK3x but even accounting for the wheel hands I decided that because I unblock hearts there was more bluff combos than value. Burned the entire time bank and ended up calling!

Somehow still didn't make day 2 after busting with ds Aces to Kings lol (probably a fold close to bubble but there are multiple flights left and decided I'd rather take a shot at having a dominating stack and just re-enter if I lost)

What was your worst experience at a poker table?

One time I was playing day 2 of a main event at our local casino, about 15 from the money. I have 66 on the river of a sizable pot heads up with the board being 88877, check back and show my hand. Villain starts doing a hand funeral, I can see J10s and he puts it in front of him face down. Immediately another dude at the table says wait, it's a chop dont muck your hand. I was so mad I slammed the table with my fist and got up. It was close to lunch break so I just stormed out thinking even if floor is called there's really nothing they can do.

About an hour later I have AKs with two remaining till the bubble. The guy who spoke out opens to 2.5bb, someone calls and it gets to me with around 13bb. I said to myself F this guy, I dont know if this is a fold but I'm not gonna play for a min cash and went all in. Dude tank calls with A6s and busted me from the tournament. Wasn't really a tournament player but stayed away from them for a long time after lol

How's PLO5 vs PLO4?

Going on a road trip for the holidays, and one of the casinos offer 5 card. Definitely want to try it out but how is it compared to regular PLO?

Saw something bizzare at a table last night (possible angle?)

So I was at a casino playing poker. One hand during showdown a player is all in and gets called. He announces "ace high flush", and turns over 2 3 of hearts. Technically, the ace of hearts is one the board and he is correct. The other player mucked his hand after the reveal, but apparently didn't realize that he was up against a 3 high flush (in hand). After dealer mucks his cards and is scooping the pot, he suddenly says wait, he has 3 high flush? Dealer says yes and he demands to have his cards back and eventually floor is called over and denied. The Player had been getting stacked all day and probably let it get to him and just assume he lost again. On the other hand I've never seen somebody announce their hand in such a way that I thought while he isn't wrong it might have been an angle? Weird circumstances

Poker editors, what do you charge?

Hello, I'm considering starting a poker vlog and wanted to know how much it would cost me to make a video. Assuming a 10-12 minute vlog, roughly long would it take and what is the standard (or average) $ per hour?

Would like to hear from editors who've done poker edits before! Thank you

International fan that's never played football, what's it like being tackled?

I've seen some of the "would an average person be able to get 1 yard as a running back" posts and made me wonder. If I was a QB and got hit on my blindside by Verse or Aaron Donald, would I be sent off on an ambulance?

Starting a PLO Vlog?

Hi guys, I've always wanted to do a poker vlog and also recently started playing PLO. I know the vlog market is pretty saturated but from what I could find there doesn't seem to be much PLO content out there. Do you guys think it could be worthwhile?
