Songs that have bass lines that either go up or down all the notes of the major or minor scale.

Trying to teach one of my students how to read bass clef and I think songs with bass lines that are just go up or down scales would be a good fit. However the only ones I can think of off the top of my head right now are Boiler Maker by The Jesus Lizard and Stars by Hum. So if there are any bass lines that go through all the notes of the major or minor scale in any direction, I would very much appreciate it.

Logic Pro, automatically decreasing gain as I’m recording. How do I fix it?

So I’m currently recording bass part through DI and part way through recording, the gain on the wave form just decreases by a significant amount without any input from me. The only way to fix this usually seems to be just resetting my computer entirely and that’s frustrating especially when the gain violently ducks again anyway. If anyone has any tips, please share them.

(Should also mention that I’m using a new MacBook at the moment after I spilt water on my old one. The old Mac was a 13 pro and my new Mac is a 14. I’m not sure how that can help but I do think it’s worth mentioning.)

To anyone going to Slide Away Fest for Friday in Brooklyn, can you let me know around what time Hum actually goes on and end after?

Asking because I’m coming from Long Island for Slide-Away on Saturday and while there’s a station that’s only a 12 minute walk from the venue it is happening at and the official Slide-Away account did put out a time table for when the sets go on, I don’t at all expect them to be on the dot when they list Hum going on at 11:15pm. While I’m not anticipating something along the lines of Hum going on over half an hour later than planned, I still imagine slight push back. Other big reason why I ask for a rough estimated end time is because it’s obviously gonna end well into midnight and it makes all the difference knowing what train time will be closest to when their set ends since the trains run less frequently past midnight and Id rather not wait for almost an hour in Brooklyn for the next train at 1am.
(Also I’m very aware of the MTA shutting down tomorrow because of potential strikes and I already have a contingency plan for that. I’m asking this knowing even if they don’t, it’s gonna take a lot of planning to make sure I’m not stuck in Brooklyn until 2am.)

Alternative public transport options on Long Island during the weekend going into the city.

I’ve had a ticket for Slide-Away fest since September and I got it for the 16th this Saturday. The day the LIRR is supposedly going on strike. So if I can avoid driving myself into Brooklyn from Centereach, I want to know if there’s any other possible alternative public transport options I could take in case the strike does happen on the 16th.

Transferred Guitar Pro from an external hard drive over to a new Mac book but it didn’t carry over the sound bank. How do I fix it?

So I had to get a new laptop recently after spilling water on my Mac. Thankfully I had guitar pro backed up on an external, along with being able to use the license on a few more devices. How ever when I write stuff out in a file, there’s no audio output and just shows a question mark on the sound bank. I can still add effects to a track but there’s no audio. Is there a specific way to fix this or do I just need to properly re-install guitar pro and not just drag it over from my hard drive to my new Mac’s application folder.

Durian — Sometimes You Scare Me (LP, 2000) Anyone have any information on this band and their members other activities post Durian?

I was introduced to this band two years ago by one of my professors two years ago and fell in love with this album. The only thing is they’re so obscure, that only one song from this album has its own dedicated YouTube upload. I haven’t been able to find out much information from this band aside from other things their drummers and one of their guitarists are credited on, the fact that this record was produced by the guitarist for Jawbox and the fact that they’re from D.C. If anyone here is more familiar with Durian and their album Sometimes You Scare Me, please share it here cause this is honestly in my top 10 all time favorite albums and I’d love to know more about this band.

So I had to get a new MacBook after spilling water on my old one and while I was too much of an idiot to not think about regularly backing up, I did thankfully back up a few important files and 2 vital of mine programs to an external hard drive. Problem is the programs only run if I have the external hard drive plugged in, despite moving them over to the new MacBook and having them on my pinned bar. It’s definitely not a licensing issue because one of the programs is Guitar Pro 7.6 and I entered it on the new Mac but same deal, won’t open unless I have my external plugged in. Would appreciate any advice on how to fix this so I don’t need the external hard-drive because I absolutely do not want to pay over $200 again for Logic Pro.

So last night, I spilled water on my MacBook Pro and while it didn’t outright shit the bed since I’m able to turn it on when I was at the geek bar today, it is however on its last legs since the keyboard is being unresponsive (not even a wired external keyboard could help) and the people at the geek bar said there’s noticeable water damage and it’s only a matter of time. So I bought a new MacBook and my uncle and I plan on keeping it in a Pyrex tray full of rice because we’re hoping we can preserve the internal hard drive and wait until the next time my dad goes into work Monday to find someone to help remove it since he works in software.

The only concern I have though is it won’t be until 4 days from now and while thankfully my laptop is still able to turn on about 14 hours after water got into it, I’m worried about the internal hard drive getting damaged within that time and not being able to back up info from my old Mac on to the new Mac. Do I have a legitimate concern or do I have nothing to worry about?
