First MacBook purchase
I’m a classical piano major. Asked several AIs and they all recommended: MacBook Air 13" M5, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, touch ID. Seems awesome, but I’d appreciate your take — is this a solid choice for music work?

Hello! I’ve just started learning Polish. I’ve finished my first two lessons on Duo and… honestly feeling a little lost already haha. But I really want to learn! I absolutely love Poland, its culture, and especially Chopin 🤍
I’m currently a classical piano major. I graduate in 2029, and my graduation gift is a trip to Warsaw for the 20th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2030 ! I want to attend in person, visit the museum, see all the historic places.
I think English will work fine in Warsaw, but it would mean a lot to me if I could at least hold a simple conversation, or even just greet people properly in their language. It feels like the least I can do when visiting Chopin’s homeland.
So — any app recommendations? Books? YouTube channels? Anything that helped you as a beginner would be so appreciated! And if anyone here is Polish… maybe we could be friends? 🥺
Hey everyone! A few days back I posted saying I wanted to make more pianist friends, and someone suggested starting a group. Thought that was such a great idea, so I made a Discord server called Piano Maniacs ! 🎹
Everyone is welcome to join. We’ve already got some amazing pianists there, and the vibe is super active and friendly.
Feel free to drop anything you want: favorite composers, pieces you’re working on, progress updates, performances, questions, or just chat about your piano journey!

Hi everyone! I saw a similar post here yesterday and wanted to make one too 😊
I’m a 20-year-old classical piano major. Chopin is my all-time favorite composer — total fangirl haha — and my top 3 is rounded out by Liszt and Debussy.
I’d love to connect with more people who play piano and just love this music as much as I do!
We were chatting in that other post about how, for whatever reason, it doesn’t seem all that common for younger people to be into classical music
New discord server
BTW, if you have any pictures that you think would be cool for the server just let me know!
Feel free to ask me anything, something fun or interesting in your DM!
I honestly feel kinda awkward when it’s just “hi”… y’know? Then the conversation just dies after two minutes anyway 😅
I love getting into little friendly debates too when it comes up, and shering different perspectives! My mind has honestly been changed so many times that way, it’s so fascinating.
I do 8-hour piano practice days, so yeah… I’m basically the cliché piano student living in a practice room 😂 But I love what I do more than anything, wouldn’t trade it for the world.
People tell me I’m a really good listener and great with advice too, so whatever you need — I’m also here just to listen if you ever need to vent
I’m blind, so I can’t read sheet music directly. My mom took a photo of the score from my course to help me out, but no app actually tells me what’s written there — instead they just make up fingerings that make absolutely no sense and don’t work at all.
I’d really appreciate the full finger patterns written out in plain text. Thanks in advance!
I'm looking for my next Chopin Étude. I learned Op. 25 No. 2 last November and performed it in December for my 3rd-semester recital. It feels comfortable and sits great under the fingers.
As a side note, I totally hyperfixated and learned Op. 10 No. 4 over spring break because I get obsessed with certain pieces, but it's definitely not the logical next step. I’m currently stuck at 100 BPM for the whole thing, and can only push it to 110 BPM for the first two pages.
Right now I’m considering these options:
Op. 10: No. 3, No. 5, or No. 8
Op. 25: No. 1 or No. 9
I’m currently at a music college, but my professor is pretty much non-existent—I basically feel like a self-taught pianist with a teacher on paper lol
Hi everyone. I’m a classical piano major looking for an online platform to help me work through technical issues, fingerings, and musical interpretation. My school lessons feel more like “auditions” than actual teaching, and since I’m blind, detailed verbal explanations are absolutely essential for me.
I’m currently looking at tonebase , Josh Wright (ProPractice) , and Denis Zhdanov (Arteprism) .
Hi everyone. I’m a 20 year old girl, grew up Catholic, and had such strong faith as a kid. I still remember clearly how sure I felt when I was 8 and going to church. But around the time the pandemic started, I went through an agnostic phase. I was full of doubts and stuck on one really painful question: if God is good and loves us, why did He let the medical negligence that left me blind as a baby in the incubator happen? It’s something I still wrestle with, and I haven’t found an answer that truly puts my heart at peace yet.
Even with all those doubts, though, I’ve felt such a strong pull in my heart this year and have been doing a lot of thinking. I want to feel His love and presence again, just like I did when I was little — to know I can talk to God and that He hears me. But I’m struggling so much; I just don’t know how to sense Him or feel completely secure.
I’ve thought about picking up the Bible, but it feels overwhelming not knowing where to start.
I’m a classical piano major, live a pretty quiet life, and don’t have any bad habits. My family and I always try to be the best we can be and help others whenever we get the chance.
A few weeks ago, I was playing and singing “You Say” by Lauren Daigle on the piano, and halfway through I just broke down crying. It was such a beautiful, special feeling. I thought maybe learning more worship songs to play and sing at home would be a gentle way to ease back in.
Also, a couple of months ago, my parents and I started saying grace before meals, and it brings me so much calm.
Now I’m thinking about making it a habit to pray first thing when I wake up and right before I go to sleep at night.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations for Bible study resources or apps. I’d also love your advice: how did you start building your daily relationship with God? Where would you suggest I begin reading? And I’d be so glad to connect with other Christians to walk through this journey together.
Thank you so much for reading!
How do you work out your piano pieces? A lot makes sense when it’s scales or arpeggios, but right now I’m learning Liebestraum No.3 and I’m stuck on the middle section — I just can’t make sense of how to finger it.
I have a lesson later today, but I know it’s not ideal: I shouldn’t be showing up just to learn the notes and fill in measures. Lessons are for polishing and refining, not for learning the piece from scratch.
For the first long scale (the 18-note one), I just went the mathematical route and broke it down into groups of 4 and 5 against the 4 beats in the left hand. It worked perfectly and feels super solid.
But what's the move for the second scale with 35 notes against 4 beats ?
Would love any tips or practice strategies
I'm a 20yo classical piano major. Today we had no classes for Teacher's Day, and Monday was supposed to be off too because of a staff breakfast. I already told my mom (who is extremely strict about my attendance) that I’m off until Tuesday.
The issue: Last night, our coordinator announced the staff event was moved to a lunch, meaning we actually have regular morning classes on Monday.
I’m so tempted to "forget" to update my mom about this. I don't want to sleep in or skip out; I have my end up semester piano recital next month and desperately need an uninterrupted, all-day practice marathon at home.
Should I just fake ignorance and practice, or let guilt win and go to class?
