To all those people who say why don't we work in cafe's and food chains like American teens.

  1. They do it to save up for their own college fees .

  2. It's not easy a lot of exploitation takes place at these food chains , restaurants , cafes . Already we have so much pressure for studies. We would die working daily after school.

  3. LAST BUT NOT LEAST - POVERTY, it's one of the biggest problems in our country, Being a cashier , staff at restaurants and cafes is someone's DREAM JOB , Some people would die to have a stable job.

In america it's not , they do have poor people but it's easier to get a student loan and study over there . As it's very common for college students to pay their own fees through loan.

Also go watch a small documentary on YT channel up close, where a man is retiring from Taj hotel after working as a place butler .He is so proud of himself (he should be nothing wrong in that) he felt honoured serving rich people who come there . Other staff were also proud of themselves for cleaning rich people's rooms and serving them (again nothing wrong with that they are proud of their job)

BUT for most of us here it would be the last option to do so , or not even last cause dad /mom knows a guy .

Be grateful that your parents are willing to pay for your undergrad and probably masters too (if u are the one paying , proud of you) unlike american kids who have to take loans which can go up to $100000 and even above .

Why do they support us at the start but when we get too serious they suddenly think we are incapable ?

Do your family members do this too ?

I have seen my family do this all the time - At first They encourage me to do many things : dance , sports , martial arts , competitive olympiad . But the moment I get serious , suddenly I am deemed too dumb to do anything.

Initially , they say things like , "why don't you do this or that ? How would you know if you won't try it out ? You have already decided you won't be able to do XYZ , then how would you be good at it ?"

They will constantly compare me to everyone around me , be it my friends , siblings, cousins or that one random kid from 1st grade , whom they loved more than me .

BUT As SOON AS I get serious towards all the things they suggested me to do , suddenly I am so dumb that I can't do anything . In a flash I am not smart enough to take part in the olympiad , too lazy to go to dance rehearsals , too fragile for martial arts , all of a sudden I have a non athletic body to take part in sports.

It's like they want me to succeed and fail at the same time .

Ask me why I don't do anything then demotivate me to barely do anything.

I just hate when they do this for 18 yrs I have learned to live with all of their tactics but not this one , it breaks me apart each and every time.

At the same time they say , people who can't do anything blame their family. How will I do anything when they won't let me do anything?
