I've been playing magic since Alara Reborn/m10. I was a classic timmy at heart; playing big ol creatures without regard to synergy or anything. My first deck was the naya conflux intro deck, and a few m10 boosters.

That deck fucking sucked (spoiler: all intro decks sucked except for the one that had the jitte). But there was one card I loved with a passion, and that was [[Lurking Predators]]. To be able to just topdeck a big ol creature for free whenever an opponent casted something? Amazing. It was the first rare card I pulled from those m10 packs, and I still have that card.

What I want to do is build a gruul deck around that principle of "rhystic reaction" cards. Even if the opponent does stuff, I still interact, and may benefit with huge creatures and threats they won't be able to keep up with. I dunno if the commander should be [[Hans Eriksson]] or [[Ruric Thar, the unbowed]]. But either way, just being a threat that unless they board wipe and/or target me constantly, won't be able to 1 for 1 my cards without consequence.

The LGS I'm at is very casual, with about a 2.5/3.5 bracket power level. Upgraded precons are the normal. I'm wanting this to be a solid 3 with about a budget of $200. Lurking predators will be a must include; I ain't cutting it unless I'm dead. XD
