What about the rest of the day?

I start ECT this week. Im as okay as i can be with the whole thing. Is there anything i can do to make the time after my session easier?

Im going to prep some food, clean my apartment, get some easy media queued up. I'll have a blanket, water, and a snack for the drive home. Am I missing anything? I just want the rest of the day to suck as little as possible.

What did the rest of your ECT days look like?

Minimally tucked

Simon decided to wedge himself under the leaves of his plant, he did this all day.

He looks so dramatic. As long as he's having fun, i guess.

Does anything prefer a 20tall tank over a 20long tank?

I was initially going to get a 20gallon tall tank, but then i saw how everyone prefered a 20long tank. But ive been thinking, is there a situation where you would want a 20tall over a 20long other than aesthetics? I know you shouldnt put a betta in a 20tall tank, so what would you stock in one? The only thing I've seen that requires a deep tank is angelfish, though i cant imagine a full grown angel in such a small footprint

New ledge on snail shell

I just noticed this formation on my snails shell. Theres a break or ledge along the edge of the shell. I cant see how it would be a real trauma related break it's a ten gallon with a peaceful betta, nothing hard to break his shell on. I can't imagine rhis is how their shells grow, my other snails in different tanks dont have this issue. Ive only had him a week and i assume any deficits would take longer to show in his shell. I have very hard water( 8.4)so i doubt thats the issue.

Any ideas? how do i offer support?

New snail has her own parking spot

Just got new mystery snails! I have 1 each in my 3 tanks and ive been enjoying it a lot. I initially got them to support the bioload in my shrimp tank as the colony develops but i spend a lot of time just seeing where the snails are. They really like these little plant pots, either burying themselves in them or hanging from them like bats when the pots are on their sides.

Fortunately i just got catappa leaves for my betta, ember tetras, and shrimps about a week before i thought to get snails. ive watched these snails skeletonize big patches of leaves, im glad they enjoy them!

Yesterday i couldnt find the snail pictured and i still dont have a lid for that tank yet so i rush around checking the sides and back and under sides of the tank just to be safe. Suddenly i heard a *POP* under my foot...

It was an empty hazelnut shell from my rats. This week im figuring out how to cover that tank!

I think i like the catappa leaves!

Look how nice Simon's yellows are! (On the other hand it totally omits the purple tint to his body). It looks so cozy in there plus its like a constant golden hour in there! He's been super interested in the leaves. i hope they are making him a little more comfortable.

Also, peek-a-boo, i guess. Didnt realise i photo bombed, i was just so focused on Simon!

Nicrew c10 24/7 question

I got a Nicrew c10 24/7 last year, and it's been quite sufficient. However, i adjusted my light times recently and now my light stays on all night.

It's supposed to turn to a blue light at 12am then turn off until 6am. However recently ive been catching the lights on (daylight levels, not the blue light) at 2-3am

I havent seen how to relieve this issue through google so im hoping someone here has experience.

Planted this a couple years ago. Thought it was goji berry at the time but havent gotten berries off it yet. An app says its st johns wort( ive planted both in the same time frame).

Gets about 3-4 feet tall, blooms lots of little purple flowers, dies back to bare sticks in the winter. Smells vaguely minty when leaves are crushed
