Del Toro’s Crimson Peak (2015) deserves a better rating than what IMDb has it at

Rewatched the movie and absolutely enjoyed it. Great visuals and set pieces. Chastain was really good in her role. Unique ghosts designs.

The plot may be predictable and the story is far from different, but it’s something that doesn’t leave you bored. Felt like a modern Hammer film.

Thinking of cutting and regrowing, will grey hairs show up?

Male who has been growing out my hair for about a decade. I’m about to be 40 and grey hairs have grown out over the last year. I have a Viking style haircut (cut off the sides/back and let the top grow) and I’ve noticed grey hairs have been popping out more on the side of my head. I’ve only seen 1 up top with my long hair.

I’ve been thinking of cutting it off so I can regrow it with more hair on the upper side, but I’m wondering if more grey hairs will pop up if i shave it all off.

How big of a factor is humidity for causing stunt growth?

10 of 11 of my mantises have their wings, but they’re smaller than usual (about 2 to 2 1/2 inches). There’s not much info out there about a growth stunt. the little I found mentioned humidity might be a cause. I fed them according to what I read (i1 to i3/i4 daily, then belly size as they get older). They’re hydrated daily. But the humidity isn’t set. I have them in DIY plastic containers and the humidity is based on the weather and my house condition.

I also read it’s possibly genetics. I’m not sure if natural sunlight plays a part, but the night/light difference in my house is off (thanks to a family member who needs the fuxkin light on at night).

Just curious to find out if humidity played a part. Whatever the case, the little guys might be small, but they’re taken care of and have no issues.

Do you think Willow/Mercedes could be the women’s version of Swerve/Hangman?

Catching up on Dynamite and I’m watching the Willow/Mone segment. This has been great (the crowd also enhanced it) and got me thinking.

Their first match in NJPW had potential to be something special, but an unfortunate freak injury cut things short. However, that incident also sparked a story to a where we’re at today.

Do you think this feud has legs to keep going for years? If Bayley signs with AEW, there can be a storyline involving her too.

Bad Beats for Gambler 8

I spent a half hour and managed to get 2/3 wins for this challenge. A little relieved because I thought it was going to take a while just to get 1.

BUT before I even won 1, I had 2 bad losses that pissed me off. First one, I stood at 17 and the prick dealer won with 18. Second one, I stood at 20 with 2 hits. The NPC next to me hit and got an ace! That could have been mine. 🫩

So, do you guys remember your bad beats? Do you remember how long it took to finish this challenge?

Movies that showcase filming in Los Angeles

As a SoCal native, movies that feature my city heavily will always get a watch from me. I hope to find ones I haven’t seen.

Also, only list movies that were actually filmed in or around the city (LA county cities are fine). Nowadays, filming in LA is drastically down, and films that are supposed to take place in LA are filmed out of state. Off the top of my head:

.Terminator 1, 2, and 3
.Collateral
.Ambulance
.Ride (kind of a ripoff of Collateral)
.Heat
.Falling Down
.Training Day
.Nightcrawler? (It’s been so long, I need to watch again).

Added from mentions in topic:

.Swingers
.Speed
.Chinatown
.Sunset BLvd
.Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
.Lala Land
.LA Confidential
.Drive
.To Live and Die in LA
.Rebel Without A Cause

Misting 3x a day during Heatwaves

I have been misting twice a day, but it’s starting to heat up, so I’m wondering if I should add another one to the schedule. I don’t have central cooling and my house can get hot. My mantises are near a window and door, but the days with cool air will vary. I live in SoCal, btw.

Mimic (1997) is a good creature feature *soft spoilers•*

Finally watched it (director’s cut). I’m currently raising mantises and was surprised to find out the creatures were a hybrid using their DNA, so this caught interest quickly.

I’ve watched most of GDT’s work and I think I’ll put this over Devil’s Backbone. It’s been so long since I’ve watch Chronos, so can’t comment.

How are the sequels to the movie? I don’t think they’d be on par with this one, but I’m hoping one is decent.

Black bump on mantis eye due to possible mismolt

I woke up and saw my mantis had molted. She looks fine except for a black bump on one of her eyes. Since she just molted, the eye bump could be from eye rub, too.

I’m not sure how fast this species (Arizona mantis) molts to adulthood, but she got her wings. I read wings are the sign they’re adults, but the mantis breed I’m raising got their wings at around 2 inches. Their mother was over 3 inches.

My question is, if she’s an adult, there’s no chance of the black bump healing? Will it get worse and lead to infection?

One thing that irks me about the rat plot

EDIT - even after they got back from Guarma, they could have been picked up soon. There was a good amount of time from their return until the end.

Now I know this wouldn’t make sense for us players because it would be over quickly, but there needs to be sense with these storylines. If not Valentine, why not after Rhodes massacre? Or Saint Denis?

I don’t want to read anything about “building a case” when we can do bounty hunting and kill the bandits to collect our reward. This was the Wild West.

The different endings for Arthur

I just saw the ending for Arthur if you go back for the money and was caught by surprise. That POS Micah got him! I helped John and got the “peaceful” ending. I did it with high honor, but is it the same ending if you have low honor? Also cool to see a different cutscene with the deer as a dinner meal.

RDR2: The only Game to make me shed tears

I’m in epilogue 2. When John is building the house and writing the letter, it made me shed 2 tears because I know what happens to him. Never has this happened before while playing games, but that entire “mission” and history of RDR got me. Can’t believe Rockstar, a company that pushes violence and crude humor in most of their games, got me emotional. 😲

My i7 mantis has wings

I read mantids get their wings in the final molt. I was surprised to see them on one of my i7s, who molted last night. It’s a little over 2 1/2 inches and about half the size of the mom (from what I can remember). Is this normal for bordered/arizona mantises?

Picked up the original Shogun (1980)

Not Shogun Assassin. The mini-series that was recently remade for TV. I found it a thrift store and was shocked I got it for 3 bucks (5 disc set). I actually forgot about the recent show until I looked it up on IMDB. So, what’s KFC opinions on it?

Need help with DIY Terrariums for adult Mantids

I’m currently raising 12 mantises and the oldest is an i7. I currently have the larger ones (i5/i6) inside a one gallon water container. I can probably stretch its use for an i8, but I need to find something new as they mature.

I’ve looked around for cheap, plastic containers and haven’t found one yet. I was thinking maybe one of those cheeseball containers would be good, but I haven’t seen them in years, so I don’t know if they shrank.

Hoping someone else has been in my shoes and found a way to house adult mantises without buying a big ass, pricey terrarium.

Has anyone raised a runt?

Curious to know if there’s anything different about the small ones and if they do molt to adulthood. I have one right now that’s taking its time to molt and just hit i4. The size difference with its siblings is noticeable.

Read lots of older posts about anti-fatigue glasses, is there still a high negativity toward them?

Been many years since my last eye exam and I went to get a xheckup yesterday. They recommended anti-fatigue, which was new to me. I ended up getting 2 pairs with these. I didn’t do my search until after I bought them and read the mostly negative experience. I have a 30 day return if they don’t work, but all those reviews have me ready for the worst. Anyone recently got these? How has your experience been.

I have astigmatism and was told I am farsighted.

These are common in my yard and come into the house from time to time. They can be pretty damn large and enough for an adult mantis for a couple of days. We don’t use any kind of insect chemicals, so I want to know if they can be given my mantises when they get older.
