I’ve been to Leadville several times with groups and have hiked up to Lily Lake and an alpine lake whose name has left me at the moment…
I’m wanting to go back but I’m an empty nester among friends who aren’t, I work at a school so summer break is closing in, so I think I’m just saying “screw it” and going alone.
Realistically, am I safe to camp alone up there? I won’t be doing the ambitious backcountry hikes that I’ve done with friends (for all the practical reasons that I don’t think anyone should do alone, especially bushwhacking), but I desperately need to get back to the place that feels most real to me and has always refilled my cup.
Any advice? Guidance? Ty in advance

My little pal is 16 years old. She had a great vet, but over the course of her life he retired and sold his practice to a woman who has been an absolute nightmare to work with. I really need a new vet to help me take care of my senior dog and who will take appointments (not walk in & wait like I’ve been hearing about from other folks). Anyone have a vet they love?

In June, 1983, the Chuck E. Cheese in Milwaukee got a brand new attraction called "Cheese E Street", although I better knew it as "The Cheese Factory". What was it? Well, it was essentially a funhouse, but… it was a really scary one. It was a 3-story maze, filled with dead-ends, steep ramps, and dark corners. Parents could "observe" their children in the maze through little windows. Apparently, the whole thing was the brainchild of a couple of guys that built an incredible Haunted House.

Personally, that place gave me the creeps. I remember getting trapped in a dark basement area with carpet on the walls; the only way out was a steep ramp. It was really hard to get up that ramp; I don't remember a banister or railing. And, I don't remember how I got out of the maze; I just have scattered memories. The strange corridor / ramp still sometimes comes back to me in dreams and nightmares.

I remember as a kid that there were rumors of a kid that got stuck in there for days; that added to the menace of the Cheese Factory. It's interesting how many people I talk to in Milwaukee remember the Cheese Factory as a strange memory when I bring it up.

Years later, I would go back and… apparently, the Cheese Factory kept its facade, but it turned into a bunch of tubes and slides in a very "open" area. The original Cheese Factory was no more. Perhaps a kid got hurt, and there was a lawsuit. I honestly don't know, and am curious as to what happened.

I'm curious about two things:

1. Does anyone know which location(s) in Milwaukee had the Cheese Factory (Cheese E Street)?
2. If anyone has any pictures of the inside of this thing, I would love to see them; all I have is memories, and I've never found any internal pictures.
