Calling all ladies who SWEAT but like to look “Done Up”

I sweat a lot on my head and on my face, my hairstyles can either exacerbate my issue or are ruined by my sweatiness. What do you ladies consider the best hairstyle to allow you to be stylish, styles that don’t sweat out or add to the problem.

Same for makeup, no matter what I do my makeup is never sweat or transfer proof. I’ve tried facial antiperspirants, the Dannessa Myricks blaring balm which I sweat through but the sweat doesn’t ruin, Patric Star Sexure the Sweat and his matte setting spray, CT matte setting spray, the list goes on but nothing helps.

Does anyone know any potion I can drink? Does anyone else struggle with this? Send help please.

MMC Says Other Woman’s Name

I know, a lot of people hate other woman drama, but I love it in certain contexts. I’m looking for a book where the MMC says the OWs name during sex with FMC. I just read it in {the Substitute Wife by Cici Cordelia} >!where the FMC replaces her dying sister as the bride and after them growing fond of each other the MMC calls out the sister’s name after the FMC performs oral sex on him.!< Yikes.

So Many 19 Year Olds

Yes, I know women tended to marry younger then, and I guess 19 is more palatable than 17, and yes I can pretend that they aren’t teenagers, but I would honestly just prefer that the heroine of all the books I read be over 21 (at the very least) and if I’m really having my way I would rather they were between 26 and 35. Even more frustrating is when their age really has no impact on the plot so they could just as easily have been older, yet they’re 19. Even, even more frustrating is when I don’t find out she’s 19 till almost halfway through 😭

I want to go back to a pixie

I’m relaxed and am currently about 8 months post pixie cut. I had my last salon cut about October last year but have been trimming here and there at home. At some point I decided to grow my hair out again, and I can’t remember why. Now I’m having the urge to cut again- my question is how long do you deliberate before deciding to cut your hair? This is for anyone doing dramatic cuts not trims.

Increased eye sensitivity

I am 28 now and have been doing my makeup since I was about 16. I used to do the quintessential 2016 glam quite regularly including strip lashes. I could literally put eyeliner on my eyeballs without issue before but recently whenever I try to do a full face, not even including eyeshadow, my eyes become watery and I often end up “crying” my makeup off completely.

Has anyone experienced increased eye sensitivity as they aged?

It’s not any one product
Nothing is expired

Ruth Ann Nordin, girl what?

Someone recommended one of her books and said it was a weird recommendation because the book was terrible but that she reached for it often, of course I had to look into it. I chose {The Bargain Mail Order Bride} and I’m treated to this bananas set down. Mind you, this is on the first couple pages. LMAO.

Price for 100s Seats

I’m visiting Miami over Labor Day weekend and I’m planning to watch the game on the 5th. I saw some tickets in the $100-150 range for the 100s section behind the goal and at the corners. Are these good prices and should I go ahead and secure them or should I wait a few weeks and see what happens closer to the game?

EDIT: I got the tickets for $100, I figured since I’m only there for the weekend I might as well ensure I secured them earlier rather than waiting to see if I save $20 if I’m lucky. Thank you all for your insights!

Western Romances not Featuring Confederate Soldiers or Slavery Sympathizers

Exactly as the title says, I’m looking for a western romance where a Confederate soldier or slavery sympathizer is not being featured. I understand that the war and slavery are part of American history but I’m not interested in reading about them in a romantic situations. I have tried googling but I’m getting limited results, also authors rarely mention it in the blurb…I wonder why since their stories are so important to share /s.

Free Use -ish Twist on a MOR Trope

I’m looking for a marriage of convenience where the main character are not attracted to each other in the beginning but still have sex to procreate. I want their sex to be very goal oriented, but not sexually fulfilling for a large part of the book, while their friendship grows. The only thing I can think of that matches the sexual relationship I’m after is {A Lady Awakened by Cecelia Grant}. Think “free use” porn but with exceptional plot and great relationship building.

Dark Skin Along Jawline

A couple years ago I started noticing dark skin along my jawline, I think it started about 2 years ago. It doesn’t appear velvety to me but I can be wrong. What could be the cause of this and how can I address it?

I’m looking for the book version of the 2009 RomCom “The Rebound”

Hi I’m looking for a book that has the same plot line as the movie the rebound. A divorced single mom and a younger MMC. I don’t necessarily need a FWB plot line, or that weird adoption storyline at the end either. I’m also not interested in too crazy of an age gap- no MMC under 25 if possible.

Buffy at College Really Affected Me

I’m only on the first few episodes of season 4 please no spoilers!

I didn’t think I would enjoy Buffy’s college days, season 3 wasn’t my favorite and I felt like the show didn’t have a strong direction coming out of it, but so far the college days are some of the most enjoyable and resonating in this series for me. As a late twenties woman Buffy’s experiences have been so real, almost to the point of being uncomfortable.

Here are some of the most resonating experiences for me so far:

My god I’ve tried editing like 3 times and this spoiler tag won’t work. SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN SEASON 4!

>!Buffy feeling lost and disconnected from her peers then being called out the first day of class in front of her peers. Her realizing that being flip and cute is not as desirable to some college men as being intelligent or academically inclined. The roommate situation- I know that was revealed to be demonic but I could still imagine an only child to have a meltdown over sharing space with their overbearing roommate. Her sleeping with Parker who the ghosts her, and finding out that this is all a part of his routine.!<

It perfectly encapsulates that vulnerability and aloneness you can experience at college and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

It’s so Hard to Read Non Historical Romance

I recently started reading a non romance fiction book and I realized that I really don’t have it in my not to read those anymore. I’m trudging through this book, because I have a fondness for the universe and because I actually went out and bought the physical book, but I just cannot wait to go back to my precious Historical Romances. It’s been a while since I’ve even read a new contemporary romance book. Does anyone else feel like this?

Edit: I’m sorry this went further than I thought it would, and I didn’t expect this many responses so I’m sorry I can’t engage with them all, but I did expect the split response. As the top comment says reading really is about escape for me and for a lot of people, which is why I’m less interested in Contemporary romance and even the dystopian fictions that I would read as a teenager. I do want to get back into some other genres and I will push myself out of my comfort zone in the future but I think HR has my heart first and foremost.

Book Where Heroine is Keeping Pregnancy from Hero

I’ve read books that have had this trope already, but can’t seem to recall them all.

Looking for something where the couple is in a marriage, maybe to produce an heir or some other reason and the heroine becomes pregnant but doesn’t tell the hero ( I would like if he already suspects she’s pregnant, because it’s silly to me when a married couple has uninterrupted sex for weeks but the man doesn’t realize she should have had a period at some point). One book that I know had this was {First Comes Marriage}. I don’t care why she keeps it to herself, only that she does.

I would prefer nothing with instant love or instant sex, I know that’s a bit of a tall order considering I want pregnancy at some point.

“Flaming June” a Halfway Through Review and a Tiny Rant

I’m halfway through {Flaming June by Emma Leech} and I’m really enjoying it so far, I almost immediately abandoned it when I started but I’m happy that I didn’t. One thing that is irking me and the reason I almost quit at the beginning was >!the mother calling the daughter a slut upon finding out she pregnant!<. Is it just me or does the word >!“slut”!< really take you out of a book. I realize it bothers me for a couple reasons, (1) I feel like it’s so Millennial White Girl coded, and (2) while it’s been used since forever, it doesn’t seem that it was a very popular word for that time, so reading it always takes me out of the fantasy, (3) back to it being very white girl coded, it reminds me so much of all the crappy fanfiction that I used to read when I was a teen that was written mostly by teenage white girls and so that word really cheapens a book for me.

Other than that one thing I quite like this book so far and I’m hoping it keeps up in the final forty ish percent.

Image: Lord Frederic Leighton, ‘Flaming June’, c. 1895. Because it’s really pretty.

Gladiator or 300 type Romance

Hi I’m looking for a historical Gladiator romance. I need Gladiator/300 vibes, but I want it to be romance forward and not just romance as a subplot.

I’m looking for MOR where heroine is a widow. Bonus points if Hero catches her grieving her ex husband after they’ve established some sort of relationship. I first read this in a contemporary novel and now again in {First Comes Marriage by Mary Balogh} and I just love it.

Edit: the grieving is really the most important part. I want her bawling her eyes out.
