Its been almost if not a full year since these dolls were first revealed. Theres no leaks or anything. Was this just a PR thing?

When they were first revealed, I was like "meh, just another doll line" and moved on. I made a quick trip to Walmart to get pasta ingredients and casually went to browse at the doll aisle when I saw the one and only MirrorMi doll they had and she was STUNNING irl.

Photos don't do this line justice. I am more in love with the proportions and the eyes were prettier than I anticipated. Unfortunately since I am on a budget and I promised I wouldn't do impulse purchases, I left her behind but I am now putting them on my wishlist. Now that my eyes are open to them, I don't think I could resist them next time especially if I see Amora or Akiko in stock 😍

I got all 4 from the same thrift store but a few years apart. Ariel was my first one I got 2 years ago. Then Cinderella last year. Rapunzel was from last month and Snow White was from this week!

Not pictured but I also have Elsa but I dont have a proper dress for her yet.

So basically these dolls are blind box dolls that come with made to move adjacent articulation, comes with extra set of lower calves with flat feet, extra pair of hands and a stand for $40. Reviewer also says they have "saran-like" hair. She shows how much the body can move in the video.

Personally, these dolls arent for me. $40 is a bit much, especially for what they come with and being blind box which is another thing. Im so tired of everything being a blind box, I think its getting out of hand. Also the fact that knowing that these body and head sculpts might be recasts of other doll brands does not sit well with me, I will never fully trust defa lucy tbh. Thoughts?

Hasbro may not have the most accurate faces or proportions but I really appreciate them including the less marketed princesses instead of the usual Ariel, Cinderella, Rapunzel and the every now and then obligatory Tiana rotation Mattel has had in their long run of having the license. Not only that but they actually had a good distribution that the non white princesses were actually on shelves.

While I enjoy Mattels proportions and sculpts, I hate how theyre back to their old ways of just doing dolls of the same 6 characters over and over again. I love Ariel to death but I would appreciate a new playline Merida or Mulan. Im liking that Jasmine is appearing in lines more but I find that she isnt as widely available as the other characters whenever shes included.

I feel like the term "Barbie Signature" or "Collector Barbie" has lost its meaning in modern day Barbie. I feel like this would be a good way to set expectations for customers too instead of just calling everything Barbie Signature.

I need to get actual risers or somethjng because hoo boy this was annoying to set up

These are currently all of my disney girls! I'm planning on making a Vanellope once I find a good enough base doll

Saw this sub on my feed and literally jumpscared me thinking it was this sub.

Did a quick repaint on G3 ghoulia because I was bored. None of the paint is sealed so I can always just wash the face off and she would have her original paint underneath.

I like the buried secrets ghoulia but i dont want to deal with rerooting her vs this quick overpaint that took 30 mins of my time. Its not THAT good but its personally passable for me

I have started getting interested in early 2000s mattel princess dolls and one thing I loved was how smaller the heads were, I personally really liked the proportions so I looked up how to shrink the heads on my more modern dolls. All 3 dolls undergone the slow shrink method which was the method with the least amount of risks based on the research I did. Slow shrinking involves using a diluted acetone solution (I just eyeballed mine), leaving the heads in for 48 hours (Asha only got 24), and dry it for a few hours, pop it on the head and wait at least a day for it to shrink.

I unfortunately dont have any before pics but I do have an unshrunken 2023 Ariel head to compare to the 2025 sparkle princess head that I used for my experiment(which is the same head with a different screening) and its significantly smaller irl.

Interestingly though, one of the guides I've read through said that both fast and slow methods will melt polypropylene hair but I used my 2023 Mattel Pocahontas that has poly hair as my guinea pig and her hair thankfully did not melt and her head still significantly shrank. Another thing they mention is to not reuse the acetone to shrink heads but all 3 of them used the same solution + me adding a little bit more acetone everytime since the head+hair does tend to soak in acetone as you pull it out the jar.

Some problems I encountered was risks already mentioned in existing guides. Pocahontas experienced a little discoloration on her lips, it turned into more of a brown color. Ariel's head discolored a little bit (it lightened up) but its not really that noticeable in photos but as someone who looks at this doll daily, I can tell lol. Asha had tiny specs of paint removed from her screening because she was slightly coated in glitter before I put her in my acetone solution and the glitter(pollutant) mustve messed around with the screening.

Painting this G3 Draculaura face and im struggling with the lashes especially the left eye. Is this just skill issue or is there a technique to it? Thank you in advance
