Hey everybody. I have something to share with you that I hope you’ll understand. After almost 1 and a half years of having this subreddit, I have been considering temporarily pausing the group after Halloween. Here’s why.

I created this group not to be a mod, but an active contributor to a group of people who genuinely love to celebrate Halloween year long. For a while, I was proud of the group that I have created, however it has gone downhill recently. There has been an overwhelming amount of rule-breaking posts on here. Despite the continuous warnings I have given, the amount of rule-breaking posts (such as self-advertising and fundraising posts) have gotten worse. The amount of posts I’ve been getting that break my community rules are way more than the good posts that others share. While I appreciate the other posts the group gets, there is still a lack of countdown posts (other than mine), a lack of interaction on posts and comments, and a lack of posts that actually follow the rules of this subreddit. All of this is along with a lack of mod help, as my other mods have been inactive. I have the mod application open, however most of the ones that do apply don’t meet the modding criteria. So, I’ve been the only one modding the subreddit for almost a whole year now.

Honestly I don’t want to have to put the subreddit on pause, and this post was upsetting to write. However due to the reasons listed and other personal reasons, I feel very disappointed on what this subreddit has become. For those that have been here for a while: thank you so much for just being here. I hope you’ll be understanding in this matter. I am still considering opening the group again in the Halloween season if I do decide to pause the sub, so if you want to come back in the spooky season, we’d love to have you back.

Meanwhile, let’s all enjoy the rest of our spooky season together. Hope everyone has a great spooky season, and thanks to those who have been supportive of the group and what it stands for!

There has actually been an uptick of self-promotion posts since the rule reminder post we made was posted. For those that are still posting self-advertising content: mods are not the only ones here with responsibilities. Your job as a member is to read the rules and follow them when posting or commenting. This rule was made for the safety of our members, so please respect the rules we have set in place to make the subreddit more positive and scam free.

From now on, anyone that posts any self-advertising content will now be automatically banned, where the amount of time banned will vary on how many offenses a user has.

We appreciate all that have read the rules and have followed them throughout your time here on the sub. Have a great spooky month everyone!

We have noticed there has been an increase in self-advertising content on the group. For those that may not know, this is a no-self promotion zone, and this rule was put in place to prevent scams. This type of content includes but is not limited to: Advertising products, fundraisers, Go-Fund Me’s, services, companies, personal social media accounts, personal YouTube accounts, contest voting, personal websites, and personal subreddits.

We’d really hate to ban members of our community, but this action would be necessary if content like the ones previously listed were posted on multiple occasions.

This is a reminder to please read our community rules before posting or commenting. This will avoid future content removals and/or bans. If you disagree or refuse to follow these rules, maybe this subreddit isn’t for you.
