Perspective on Sona as a new Sona player, she's great but has one caveat

So I've been playing Sona and started maining her, hopefully OTP'ing her at some point in the future. And while she has her weaknesses and strenghs, there is one thing in particular that bugs in her kit me: her stacks.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that her passive is weak. On the contrary I think it's very strong. My issue is the bonus we get when reaching 120 stacks.
It takes a long time and a lot of effort to reach that point, and I find it incredibly underwhelming to just get ult CD reduction for it.

Again, I'm not saying that it is weak, it justt feels extremely bad. I build up to it, work for it, and then when I get the max stacks I just feel like.... "That's it?"
For a champions as late game orriented as she is, I feel like she should be getting different, something more flashy for reaching max stacks.

Am I the only one feeling like this?

Solo lane Sona

I'm going to be forward and preface this: I'm bad at the game.
Here is my opgg please don't judge too harshly https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/Lyoko-Loop
While there are many concepts far beyond my elo that I understand, I'm just immensly terrible at putting them into execution 99% of the time.

I'm originally a Yuumi OTP, and while I still enjoy the cat herself a lot, I just cannot handle the lack of agency anymore. So I tried a few champs, and while I did play Sona scarecely in the past, I really started to enjoy her a lot in the past week and want to make her my new main.

Here is the caveat: I've grown to DESPISE bot lane. Enchanters are extremely fun for me but I cannot handle playing bot lane anymore. Even if I'm not solo carrying the game and rely on my team, I would much rather do it later in fights in just handle the lane myself.

Are there any ways to make Sona solo lane work or advice you may have for me? Would you recommend mid or top more? I've been struggling with the assassins of mid lane but I can't imagine top lane is much better regarding matchups.

Paladins Saturday

It is unrealistic to expect people to play this game over their new usual games.

As much as the 9th helped the game feel alive, we cannot expect a single day spike to matter. However, it is also unreasonable to expect people to play a no-devs game daily either.

So, in an effort to have as high quality games as we possibly can, I propose to come for a "Paladins day" every saturday of the week.

That way, we can have a high influx day with high quality games, it gives more visibility to the cause, and makes it easier for us to know how popular Paladins ACTUALLY still is.

We can keep this game alive, so please gather every saturday for Paladins Day.

Dear riot: Sona's Aura music

Greetings, I would like to discuss a topic that has not been brought up in a while: Sona's aura music.

I understand that when she was originally created, Riot was unsure what conditions they should put on the music to be heard by allies. However nowadays, Seraphine exists and has the answer.

A big part of the appeal for Seraphine players is the passive music. Each skin she has comes with a unique tune, and her latest T1 skin playing the instrumental of Sacrifice is a huge part as to why that skin is the most popular of the batch.

Every Sona skin has an aura music that plays with her abilities at (what seems to be) random intervals. These music play at incredibly low in volume, to the point where they are barely audible for Sona, and even less so for her allies.

Dear riot, part of Sona's appeal is her music, much like Seraphine. For a character with no voice who conveys her emotions and feelings through her music, it is incredibly sad that her aura music is inaudible.

Each of her skins have very unique and incredible music that would be appreciated by many, and it is a shame that they are put aside like this. Sona would become a lot more popular with this change alone, and I see no downsides for it.

The only caveat would be to figure out how to choose between listening to Sona or Seraphine, but I think it would not be very difficult considering skins like True Damage Ekko have their own music too and can be played alongside Seraphine with no problem.

I will take myself as an exemple. I play Sona scarcely, not because I dislike her gameplay but because Seraphine fulfills the power fantasy of a musical artist better through her passive music alone. Besides the more polished look that Seraphine has (this is mostly because Sona is due for a visual update), when having to chose between two champions with similar themes, disregarding gameplay, Seraphine will always be more appealing to players as long as Sona doesn't match the music aspect.

To be clear, I am NOT saying that Seraphine is a "better Sona" in general. They are different and unique champions. My point is that they share a theme, and Seraphine embodies that theme so much better that it overshadows Sona.

I implore you to consider this change, or at the very least to inform Sona players with a clear cut answer.

With love, Lyoko.

The current state of Paladins:

Art by Wolfrad Senpai

I haven't played this game in SO LONGGGGGGG I'm reinstalling right now thanks to all the hype.

The whole "buying paladins" fiasco was definetly a scam, but we can at least rejoice that it gave people interest in the game again.

We will not die, not yet amigos.

Why does no Yuumi skin have a homeguard?

I get that she usually goes back to lane attached, but it would be so simple to just have the homeguard play even when attached...

rant about Yuumi bugs, QoL, and other

Firecracker Yuumi has no VFX when recalling attached;
Battle Academia Yuumi uses the default recall when recalling attached (this has been in the game since her release, btw);
Battle Academia Yuumi does not have an ult voice filter like every other battle academia skin;
Cyber Cat Yuumi's SFX are way, WAYYYY too low, to the point where you can barely hear them;
She has 3 skins where it's litterally "Yuumi in a cute costume" (firecracker, Yuubee, and Shiba).
Cyber Cat Yuumi is the onyl skin that even TRIES to make Book something other than just a book
----
Yuumi's best friend mark is only visible to Yuumi. Everyone knows who Yuumi's best friend is already, hiding this from others just reduces the value of all her skins for no reason. It's not like the mark is disctracting either.
Yuumi's spells will buffer on W arrival even if the target of the dash died before arrival.
Yuumi's Q on-hit does not proc anything. I understand it's intended this way but SOME interactions should work just for fun, like pop renata's marks or triggering burn items.
Yuumi's R shield, for some reason, is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than her heal. They said they fixed the fact that it doesn't benefit from HnSP but I really don't think so.
W on-hit healing is completely irrelevant because it doesn't interact with items (understandably so) and I would truly prefer that they remove it entirely to give power somewhere else in her kit.
-------
Yuumi should get a Nemesis quest with fish/dog champions, alongside other cats (Rengar and Nidalee, maybe even mordekaiser)
Yuumi holds one of the most powerful artefact of all of runeterra (The book of threshold), she holds the very fabric of the spirit realm together, yet for some reason she is completely irrelevant to the lore and is depicted as just a silly little cat doing silly little things. She cat be cute and silly but still be relevant, look at zoe.
------
Edit after people mentioned more stuff:
Battle Academia Yuumi is the only skin with custom VFX for her Q on-hit (after checking myself, this is false)
Q on-hit VFX is barely visible

While changing as little as possible, how would you make Yuumi viable outside of support?

Just for fun, what are you ideas?

My personal take: She can now attach to jungle monsters or minions to continuisly drain their health, or turbo buff them if it's an ally minion. E either deals damage or shields depending on if the target is an ally minion or an enemy minion/jungle creep.

She is NOT untargettable when attached to anything that isn't an ally champion

Yuumi changes propositions with as little impact on the "afk crowd" as possible

So, we all know Yuumi is being balanced around what I call the "afk crowd", which are players who aren't extremely engaged with league as a whole and aren't interested in getting better at it. They simply want to play from time to time with their friend(s) and feel like they're doing something to help, and that's okay^^ The name is slightly hyperbolic but you get the idea.

This is the reason Yuumi cannot have skill back into her kit. And considering that this "afk crowd" is apparently the majority of the Yuumi playerbase, it is reasonable and understandable for Riot to balance the champion around them.

However, I think it is unfair to the other players who dedicate themselves to champion. Regardless of how easy she might seem, Yuumi is the only champion in the game whose learning curve doesn't consist of getting better at the champion herself, but instead getting better at abusing every single thing they can about the game in order to have a positive win rate.

So, here is what very small changes I suggest that could add more player impact to Yuumi while keeping her as "afk crowd" friendly as possible. The objective is to keep Yuumi as a very "I just want to help" option for these players while adding stuff for more engaged players. Do note that these are INDIVIDUAL changes. I am not advocating for her to get all of this at once:

  • Increase her base AD and AD growth. Rewards active play when not attached, mostly for early game.
  • If Yuumi's passive is activated by an auto attack rather than a spell, it deals bonus damage scaling with Heal and Shield power (or a small AP ratio). Rewards active play when not attached.
  • Yuumi's E gives bonus shield to non-best friend, but no longer gives bonus movement or attack speed to them. Rewards actively jumping from ally to ally.
  • Yuumi's R grants a very short burst of movement speed to her anchor (regardless of best friend). The strengh of the buff increases with every wave. Rewards decision making.
  • Yuumi's R waves are no longer an auto cast, but rather 5 different casts (smilar to Gwen's R or Aatrox's Q). Yuumi has 5 seconds in between each waves to recast, otherwise it will automatically cast the next wave. Rewards decision making.
  • Yuumi's R no longer gives shield to full health allies. Instead, grants them bonus movement speed. Rewards decision making.
  • Yuumi's W now has a small heal upon arrival. This effect has a per-champion cooldown that can only go down while attached to her best friend. Rewards actively jumping from ally to ally.

It's not even a meme anymore

We have reached the point where all my "AP Yuumi is as good as enchanter" jokes are becoming reality.

Don't get me wrong, I love that AP Yuumi is getting more play, but I wish it was in different circumstances.

u/Lyoko_Loop — 2 months ago

I grow tired of these ADCs

"Oh they picked Yuumi, I will intentionally do everything in my power to soft int by not trading, not joining fights, sitting afk in lane for no reason"

Seriously, when will people understand that this mentality is what leads to Yuumi fucking leaving you alone to go play with the jungler???

Redownloaded the game after years... all my data gone?

Hello! As the title says, I tried redownloading the game after an extremely long pause (I was playing since the launch and stopped about a year after I think). It took a little bit of digging to find the e-mail address that I originally used, but after finding it and logging onto it.... all my progress has vanished :c

Makes me really sad because I spent a little bit of money on the game but more importantly I really want my progress back lol, I even remember the name of my old club (ETHEREALS iirc).

Did something happen for this to occurr? I did notice the entire early game changed.
(on a side note, why is the writing so ass now? At least for the very early bit that I've seen so far it's really bad, AND I'm forced to be a man for some odd reason, despite the MC having their face hidden and stuff)

Niche question about a skinline lore: Four Beasts

Hello! I have a question regarding the Four Beasts universe. What's the difference between Dragonmancers and "X dragon [Champion name]"

Dragonmancers clearly have a dragon name in their bio, like Fiora and the defiance dragon. Why isn't she "defiance dragon Fiora"? Why is Steel dragon Thresh (for exemple) not Dragonmancer Thresh?
