Every. Single. Time there's some news about women on Facebook be prepared to witness an army of nagging complaining crying "men".
Let it be about female rape victims, the gender pay gap, female artists / singers, female tourists / doctors getting harassed... Some "men" will run to the comments crying bawling their eyes out about how Tunisian society is becoming too effeminate or too progressive and how it's undervaluing men and "deviating" from Tunisian religious morality.
These comments range from simple one sentence complaints to full on rants cursing the women in question.
Here's a non-exhaustive list I compiled of some of those comments:
These two got creative and made full-on poems:
And hold and behold this piece of literature I see under every one of those posts:
If you as a man have such a fragile masculinity to the point where you feel threatened when a woman wears a bikini or is a fan of a singer, then you're not a real man. Plus go fuck yourself 😃😃.
And I don't want to hear anybody say we're "progressive" anymore. We are as patriarchal and as extremist as other Arab societies full stop.
Today marks the fifth year since the current president made a sweeping power grab by dissolving the parliament and since then he began dismantling everything we had.
By dismantling I mean imprisoning all political figures and human rights activists, threatening lawyers and judges, replacing the constitution, vending off foreign investment and fucking up diplomatic relationships. Recently a previous president who is in exile now in France came up on France 24 to criticise the current "president". After the interview was aired, our minister of foreign affairs summoned the French ambassador and allegedly gave him quote unquote "a harsh talk". Today it was all over the news on French newspapers.
How does that affect me you ask?
I don't feel proud of my nationality, at all. I never had the luxury to do so, and probably never will. Hell, I now feel genuinely ashamed to tell people I am from this shithole of a country. I hate being from this country so much in fact. I feel like me and my people are a failure.
How do you expect me to love a place that doesn't love me back? I can't live somewhere where electricity and water are becoming increasingly scarce and where the concept of a future doesn't exist. Young people are fleeing and nobody wants to stay here.
The future is bleak. Literally.
The thing that aches me the most is that not a very long time ago we were occasionally praised for having outed a long time dictator and for a shaky yet promising economy. Things obviously were far from being perfect, but at least people had hope.
Today, none of that exists. Nobody wants to lift a finger to try and change things. The only option for me is to leave the country with my family and never come back.
I can go on and on talking about hatred towards LGBTQ people, Islamic fundamentalism and countless other issues. But I'm going to end it here because I don't want to waste your time anymore.
Sorry for the long rant. I just wanted to let it out.
Thoughts?

I've had this question for a looong time. Am I really a femboy? When I dress femme, want to be praised, want to get headpats and cuddled, is it because I genuinely want to express that part of myself, or is it because I am a loser and lack feminine energy in my life so much that I decided to use dressing up as a surrogate for femininity?
The thing is throughout my teenage years, I don't remember having even a single girl friend (not girlfriend). I had one girlfriend in 9th grade and it was an online relationship soo it was super superficial and stuff. It wasn't until two years ago that I started to form some genuine friendships with girls but those connections weren't as deep as I wanted them to be, but still no GF tho. From what I understand genuine femboys are the complete opposite to this. They say that they had friendship almost exclusively with girls because they don't feel masculine and they don't feel like they fit with other guys their age.
However, I also remember that I wanted to feel cute and soft since I was a child wayy before having girlfriends was a concept for me and at that time I remember I did have friendships with girls who were my age. Also, I imagine even if I manage to get in a romantic relationship with a woman, I would still want to be a femboy which kind of contradicts my assumption that I'm using this as a surrogate for affection and femininity. So what gives?
I'm really confused. Should I just pack the femboy stuff up because it's not who I am? Has anyone of y'all here been in a similar situation? Any input is appreciated. Tyyyy :3
Sorry for the dramatic title, but I think we're truly witnessing Tunisia being dismantled piece by piece every day. And we're doing absolutely nothing about it.
Every few weeks, we hear about a new national failure, and it seems that the overwhelming majority of international news coming from Tunisia are very negative which trashes our image more and more. The last week, it was about the swiss company Cicor leaving Tunisia (like many other corporations). The week before that, it was about the Tunisian café owner putting up a racist sign prohibiting sub-saharan immigrants from entering his café. The week before that, it was about the Tunisian terrorists in Paris. But the most relevant and recent one is obviously our heavy defeat in the World Cup.
The thing that hurts the most is that, we weren't always like this. Not so long ago, we had one of the most promising football national teams in the Arab world and more specifically in North Africa. We were once praised for our freedoms and for our democracy despite it being flawed. We once had decent diplomatic relationships and a struggling yet okay-ish economy. But today all of that is being questioned.
I'm not going to blame KS for all of this because I think we should stop adopting the old stereotypical mentality of blaming the leaders for everything bad that happens to the nation, he wasn't going to rule us if we actually stood up for ourselves. I think it's definitely time we get a move on and try to save the country, and I think this is in fact our only chance to do so.
Instead of choosing escapism and surrendering to our current situation, why not actually act to improve it. As the young generation of Tunisia, we must seriously start thinking about ways to at least salvage the country. We must make a complete overhaul of the country's institutions and of our government. We must update the laws to suit the new digital age. Why don't we take matters into our own hands like how the youth did in Nepal? They managed to topple a whole regime in a matter of DAYS. Because if we don't act, I fear the future for this nation will be bleak. Global warming is getting worse by the years, and we're going to be one of its first victims in about 50 years. At that point it will be too late to improve anything and we, like most countries in MENA, will go out without a bang unfortunately because we don't add any value to the world.
I find myself posting here about the sad state of Tunisia every few months to rant because it's truly sobering. I hope one day I won't find the need to do so anymore.
