What's one hack that you figured out by yourself as a modest dresser?

Not from the internet, but from your own journey.

As someone figuring out modesty, I'd love to know what you learned along the way that might also help someone else struggling with the exact same thing.

What to wear as a modest wedding guest?

My cousin's wedding is coming up and I'm torn between these three. I found these inspirations on Pinterest and can't decide, so help me out. Which one do you think would be perfect?

It's an evening function, so which one would you pick?

Freezing in skirts and my biggest tip for your first modest fall.

My first fall wearing skirts, I was cold every single day. My legs were numb, my skirts clung to my tights, and everyone asked "aren't you cold?" I almost went back to jeans.

What finally fixed it is to switch to thick skirts (wool, corduroy, heavy denim) and wear fleece-lined tights on really cold days. Add a slip so nothing clings, and wear knee-high boots so there's no cold gap.

Now I'm honestly warmer than my friends in jeans.
It's not you. It's the layers.

YOU CAN DO IT.

What about men’s modesty?

I always see discussions about women’s modest clothing and how women should dress a certain way.

But what about men?

I don’t think modesty has a gender. It’s something that applies to everyone. So what do you think men should look/dress like when it comes to modesty?

What’s your take?

5 basic things I looked for in a dress when I started dressing modestly.

  1. Is the fit comfortable when I sit or move around?
  2. Where does the hem fall when I’m standing vs sitting?
  3. How much does the fabric show? Some fabrics look fine indoors but are a different story outdoors.
  4. Can I wear this piece in more than one way?
  5. Will I be comfortable with the neckline, or will I need to layer underneath it?

Abaya styling inspo for winters

I’m a hijabi who loves styling her abaya in winter because it gives me so many more ways to play with layers, and I honestly love layering.
So I crafted a few winter outfit ideas with abayas using AI, based on my own taste and the kind of outfits I actually love to wear.

Sharing them here for girls who are new to modesty and looking for a little inspiration. 🤎

Feedback is welcome! I’d love to hear.

What’s your travel formula as a modest dresser?

I started dressing modestly and really want to feel comfortable in what I wear, especially while traveling.
I usually go for wide leg jeans, an oversized top and slippers. And most of the time, I don’t even bother with makeup 😅

But lately, I’ve been seeing girls of my age really look pretty and put-together when they travel, and it made me want to change things up a little.

I want to look more classy and put-together while still feeling comfortable. I’m not really into tight clothes, especially when traveling, so I’d still want to stick with loose, easy pieces.

For those of you who dress modestly, what’s your travel formula? What do you usually wear to stay comfortable but still look put-together?

What was the hardest part of starting your modesty journey?

Was it figuring out what to wear and finding your style? Dealing with judgment from family, friends, or people around you?

Or was it something completely different?

Feeling odd in a denim skirt.

It’s the only piece I always hesitated to try. When I started dressing modestly, this was something that stuck in my mind when I wore it. I didn't feel good in it.

But then one of my friend pushed me to give it a try. She wears skirts most of the time, and encouraged me to try one. I did and just loved it.

Now I pair it for different everyday looks.

So, I put together a visual baord for girlies who are new to modesty and think denim skirts aren’t for them. Just give it a try.

So I put together a list that works for me and for girls who are not sure where to start.

• H&M

• Uniqlo
• Cider

What made you to start dressing modestly?

Was it a personal or something completely different?
Especially if it wasn’t something you grew up doing.

Fall is here and these are the 5 things that make your modest look so put together every time.

I personally styled all five of these pieces when I first started wearing modest clothes because I didn’t want to fill my wardrobe with too many pieces. They’ve stayed in my styling rotation ever since.

What’s one thing you’d alter or switch up to make these looks feel more casual but still cute?

When you're truly new to modesty, is it necessary to figure out everything at once?

Honestly, you don’t have to, and you can't.

I made this little visual to show how different coverage can look that helped me in the start of my journey. None of these is the right way to dress modestly because everyone has their own perspective and styling preferences.

I use it as a starting point to see what feels comfortable, practical, and most like me.

Share the picture of your styles that helped you figure things out.

People think that to dress modestly they have to lose thier personal identity. But I totally disagree. Modesty means choose your own style and preferences. I'm sharing some modest inspo to show you the variety of possibilites. Pick the version and let me know which one matches your personality.

New to Modesty? And you haven’t figured it all out yet.

You love fashion but aren’t sure what looks modest.
You struggle to find your own style.
You feel behind, under pressure, and too embarrassed to ask the basic questions.

You’re thinking there must be a rulebook for modesty.

But there isn’t.

Modesty doesn’t mean you have to:

→ Dress a certain way
→ Pray a certain way
→ Follow someone else’s rules

Everyone has their own definition of modesty.
But how do you figure out what modesty means for you?

That’s why we created r/NewToModesty.

A place where people who are new to modesty can ask any question without judgment, where everyone’s definition of modesty is valued, and where you can find people who have struggled through the same phase and are now figuring out their own style.

So let’s start here:

  1. What’s your definition of modesty?
  2. What was the hardest thing for you to figure out when you started dressing modestly?
  3. Or is there a specific question you’ve been too afraid to ask?

And hey, you don’t have to have the perfect answer.

Share as much or as little as you want. A question, a frustration, something you’re struggling with, or even just a “wait… am I the only one?” moment.

No judgment. We’re figuring this out together.

Does layering this much in September actually make sense?

Layered tees are making their way back into the fashion conversation, especially with that early-2000s, slightly messy styling.

An oversized tee over a fitted one, with a longer layer underneath, gives you that undone look.

September feels like the perfect time to play with it.
A little extra length, an oversized fit, and slightly messier styling can make the whole look work without feeling too put-together.

Would you actually wear this layered look in September, or keep your outfits a little lighter for as long as possible?

Can we talk about why everything is cropped now?

Finally find a cute basic top that I’d actually wear…
Then realize it’s cropped.

Like… why are we making a simple top so difficult?

What’s your modest fashion “absolutely not” moment?

Fashion girlies, we need to talk.

Why does every new trend come with an unspoken rule?

Less fabric = more fashion?

You finally find a dress you actually like, but it’s sleeveless.
So fitted that it shows every curve.
Maybe the fabric is too sheer.

And if everything else looks good, the model turns around and the back is open.

Somehow, modest girls are expected to figure it out?
Like, girl, we want to participate in the trend. We’re not asking fashion to be boring.

We just want fashion to remember we exist too.

What trend had you thinking, “Yeah… they forgot us”? 👀
Drop the trend below, bonus points for a pic. 😀
