Portable air con leaking underneath?

Hi all I managed to score one of the Jack Stonehouse air con units. Ran it for the first time today, was okay. However when I moved it I noticed all this water had leaked underneath? I drained it and there was about 500ml water I drained out but is it meant to leak like this?

What happened to my lawn??i

Back in May I sowed some ryegrass seed and microclover. It looked amazing! Gave it its first cut last weekend on the highest setting and there’s a patch under the tree which now looks like this? I can’t think what it may be, any help would be much appreciated!!

9000 vs 12000 BTU for a 14m² living room - does bigger help cool the hallway too?

Trying to pick an AC unit for my living room (about 14m², roughly 150 sq ft). I’ve got two options:

•	9000 BTU
•	12000 BTU

I know 9000 BTU is technically the right size for a room this small, but I was wondering if going up to 12000 BTU would let it also cool the hallway a bit if I leave the door open, since it’d have more capacity to spare.

Is that how it works, or does a single indoor unit only really cool the room it’s in regardless of how oversized it is? Would I just be paying more for an oversized unit that short-cycles, with no real benefit to the hallway?

If anyone’s tried leaving doors open with a similarly oversized unit, did it actually make a noticeable difference, or is a fan a better bet for spreading the cool air around? Appreciate any real-world experience.

Why is my grass matted like this?

Grew a mix of ryegrass and microclover and baby had its first cut yesterday. Most of the lawn cut pretty well but this patch turned out quite matted? It’s not grass clippings but it looks like it

What can I do about it?

What is my living room missing?

I’ve had my space for 2 years now but I can’t help but feel the living room space is missing something!

Some initial thoughts - maybe a bookcase on one side of the tv and an accent chair to the other side? Change the artwork? I don’t want to replace furniture. I have plants on the windowsill - curtains are closed because we are undergoing a massive heatwave atm!

Left newly seeded grass for 4 days without water - is it toast?

So I seeded my lawn on Sunday (grass seed, watered well right after). Then life happened and I couldn’t water again until Thursday/Friday - so it sat for about 4 days with no water, including through some warm weather.

Is the seed likely dead at this point, or is there still hope? Should I just water normally going forward, or do I need to reseed any patches? Trying to figure out if I wasted the seed or if grass is more resilient than I’m giving it credit for.

Any insight from people who’ve had a similar gap appreciated 🙏

Bought my first home and now feel uncomfortable in it because of a neighbour

I genuinely regret buying my flat because of one neighbour.

I live alone in a top-floor maisonette and have a section of garden at the back. When I first moved in, the woman in the neighbouring flat seemed friendly enough. Looking back, I think she was mostly being nosy and trying to find out my business.

Over time, things have become increasingly unpleasant. She seems to have appointed herself the self-proclaimed manager of the entire building and constantly involves herself in things that have nothing to do with her.

One example is access to an outdoor tap. A neighbour was happy to let me use their tap and hose for my garden, but she has repeatedly interfered. She previously persuaded another neighbour not to let me use theirs, and now I’ve overheard her complaining because someone else is helping me. On my Ring doorbell recording, she’s calling me “mental” and a “witch” while talking about me to other neighbours.

What makes it worse is that I often feel watched. Today, for example, when I was heading to a neighbour’s property to use their tap, she just happened to be standing and gardening directly in front of the entrance I needed to use. Maybe it’s coincidence, but after so many incidents it feels intimidating and uncomfortable.

The downstairs flat is currently occupied by a man who is house-sitting for his mother, who has dementia. He’s a construction worker and seems to spend a lot of time chatting with her, and she constantly appears to be trying to influence what other neighbours think about me.

I keep myself to myself, go to work, maintain my garden, and don’t bother anyone. Yet somehow I’ve become the topic of discussion.

I’m also Asian, and while I can’t prove it, part of me wonders whether prejudice is playing a role in how I’ve been treated. It’s difficult not to think about when you’re being singled out, gossiped about, and made to feel unwelcome in your own home.

Has anyone else dealt with a neighbour who seems determined to create drama and turn other residents against them? How did you handle it without letting it completely ruin your enjoyment of where you live?

Seeded lawn with microclover and ryegrass but loads of weeds are growing and everything is growing slow!

Thought I'd redo the lawn this summer. Pulled out grass and weeds, new topsoil, sowed microclover seeds, got impatient and then added annual ryegrass too (so | could at least use the garden this summer).

Finding loads of broadleaf weeds and horsetail have taken off during the wet spell we had this week. And the microclover is largely forever staying in the seedling stage.

Gone round and trimmed the horsetail down and I have a weeding tool but I guess I shouldn't weed yet because of the seedlings?

Grass seed went down 10 days ago and here we are.
Microclover was put down about a month ago. I am getting super impatient!!

Should I overseed with more annual ryegrass and put bird netting over it incase the birds are eating at seed? Why is it so patchy? What do I do about the weeds? How long will I have to wait!

Wall mounted vs countertop wine rack?

I have about 12-16 bottles of wine and champagne and need a good storage solution for them. Toying between a countertop wine rack or a permanent wall mounted wine rack.

The only place I can install a wall mounted wine rack in the kitchen is near the door and the fridge. I could install a wine rack in another room but I think for now I want it contained in the kitchen, as I don’t want to clutter up other spaces.

Attached are photos - bear in mind there’s a lot more stuff in there now!

Should I just overseed?

So I tried to grow microclover in my garden, and put down seeds 2.5 weeks ago. This is the growth after 2 weeks. I am getting impatient as I want to be able to use my garden come July, but for some reason it feels like the microclover is taking forever to grow. Since we have such wet weather this week, should I just overseed the lawn with grass seed to make the most of these weather conditions?

Toyota vs Hyundai? Used car help

Hi all, I’m looking to buy a used car, after driving 10 years and 100k+ miles on a 2015 Hyundai i20.

I live in suburban London, so the car would be predominantly for inner city driving, however there would be the occasional A road or M25 sprint every so often.

I didn’t want to get rid of my i20 but the engine gave up and wasn’t worth fixing so looking to buy something new. I’ve created a table of some cars I’ve seen on Autotrader which I’ve attached here. Not looking to go over £5500 ideally

Any advice would be appreciated!
