Currently hold the Amex Essentials rewards card (the $9PM one) and I’m actually quite happy with it. I always hit the 10,000 monthly points cap on the accelerated categories and the 60,000 bonus points of the Explorer doesn’t seem worth it to me.
The explorer is technically “free” with the travel credit but I realistically only travel once a year.
What do y’all think?
In Australia, if you see a payment terminal, you’d assume they’d be contactless and that they’d accept both Visa and Mastercard. We’ve also adopted contactless payments way earlier and as a result, no one has been using physical cards to pay anymore, at least for the younger generation.
Saw this offer in my inbox and I was going to spend > $100 anyways at Myer today. Do I just use the card that I have linked to Qantas Shopping and I’ll get the bonus points after a few days?

Got my first byredo candle last week and the wick has been moving left to right ever since I first lit it. This is my 2nd luxury candle brand after diptique and luxury candles aren’t giving me much hope for their quality. Silver lining is that it fixes it’s tunneling issues lol.
I’m considering moving to the US after I graduate from my bachelors in radiation therapy or maybe after 3-4 years of working. Is it hard to get registered in the US? Would I have to sit for an exam? TIA!
First time going to the outlet and prices are cheaper than the sales online.
I posted several parcels at the start of the week and it still shows as being received by the post office. Is this normal? Has it just not been scanned at the depots? Parcels were sent from Metro NSW to metro WA, if that matters.
I’ve had other parcels in transit or already being delivered.
I’m an ABC from Australia and had the pleasure of meeting a Chinese American who was down under for a holiday. We hit it off and I decided to show him around Sydney. I took him to do all of the touristy stuff, some even I haven’t done or done for a long time.
His first impression of me was that he found it strange I had an Australian accent (kind of a given haha) and was also surprised that I can speak my mother tongue pretty decently. I feel like most of my Aussie Asian friends talk to their parents in their native languages pretty well. When I asked him if he spoke Chinese to his parents, he just said that he understands what his parents say to him, but replies in English. Is there a reason why many seem to only really speak English to their parents in America?
He also asked me what I knew about America and Asian American culture in general. I told him that most of my understanding came from social media and pop culture. He was shocked that I knew about the SoCal Asian stereotypes (e.g. Seaside bakery). When I asked him what he thought of Asians in Australia he didn’t really have much to say, other than we speak with an accent.
I enjoyed meeting an Asian American for the first time and promised him that I’d come visit California some time where he’s from. Also it’ll be cool if I could meet some new Asian American friends for when I visit the states some day!
Finally saw lyric translations that’s not Korean or Spanish. Wish that more record labels and artists would add translation, since I primarily listen to music not in English
