Bluestone walkway with joints recently redone

In late July I had the joints on my walkway redone as they were crumbling because I foolishly used salt in the winter. The contractor used cement mixed with sand for the joints, and then apparently topped them with polymeric sand.

What I would like to know is what kind of sealant do I need to apply that works for both the bluestone and the joints to keep water out? Obviously I won't be using salt any more but I want to make sure this lasts.

Connecticut schools - Triad?

Hello all. I recently moved to Connecticut and in the process of enrolling my child in school. I have heard of some children being put into a “triad” while others are not.

Can anyone tell me what it is? Searching online seems to give some conflicting information...some of which indicates it is CT's version of a gifted & talented program.

Drain work

Contractor installed a drain leading from the garage side of my house. He left the end open as such about 25-30 feet from the drain area of the house.

Is this deep enough? My old landscaper retired but once told me the pipe should be about 5 feet down and dug in with gravel. This one is basically maybe a foot deep.

Recent walkway repair, contractor cut off the bottom of either side of the outer frame of my front door

Pretty much the title - my walkway was falling apart so I hired a guy to come and do some repairs.

The outer frame had a look of "columns" which can be seen in the pics - in order to properly level the walkway, he cut off the bottom pieces of the columns on both sides. These things are basically white plastic and hollow.

So now the walkway is good, but I can essentially slide my finger right under the gap between the stone and the column. He is saying he could come back and either fill the gap with cement or white silicone. Not really sure which is the best solution or if we couldn't just get something that looks nice and could slide in there to cover it up.

As an aside, he left the waste pieces he sliced off in my garden and initially put cement on bare vinyl siding to fix an issue in the back...which was kinda disappointing, but I had it removed in the back. Anyway, thoughts for how best to repair? I can basically slide my finger under and curl it up to feel the open gaps. Not really sure what the best repair solution is at this point of the two options he gave or if I could just go with a different option entirely.

Spell perfection choice

Using Call of the Wild and trying out an illusion Sage Sorcerer. Building towards spell perfection and trying to decide between Greater Shadow Conjuration or Greater Shadow Enchantment.

Shadow Conjuration seems slightly more flexible but less benefit from Spell Perfection because most of their spells ignore spell resistance. Also a level 7 spell gives one spell level less in options.

Shadow Enchantment seems less flexible though it benefits more from Spell Perfection with spell resistance benefits being doubled, and a lower spell level which potentially lets you double up on meta magic.

I’m almost level 15 and having a tough time deciding. Thoughts?!?!

Recorded one way questionnaire

I applied to a position a few weeks ago, and after a couple weeks they sent me an email thanking me for my interest in the position and inviting me to participate in a one way recorded questionnaire where they’d ask me 4 questions.

I was instructed that the deadline to do this was by midnight tonight. I was prepping to get it done this morning when I received another email that basically said they will not be moving forward with my application.

I honestly don’t understand why I would be shot down before I even get a chance to respond to their questions…

Is this a situation where I should try to click on the link anyway and do the questions? Or just throw in the towel?

Bluestone walkway repairs

Is it common for landscape contractors to quote a price for repairing a walkway and then add a caveat that if the bluestone breaks or cracks, the cost will be on me to replace?

I’ve got two quotes, one is about a third less than the other. The lower priced guy is telling me that any broken stones caused by HIS work will need to be at my cost. The other guy costs more but says that would be included if it happens.

This is my first time having something like this done, which is to basically redo the joints and recenter pieces that have moved somewhat. Additionally fixing the entrance section as part of it is slightly elevated compared to the rest.
