Dermstore

I just wanted to put it out there, if you are ever tempted to top up your order at Dermstore to qualify for a gift, I would have to say that it really is not worth it. I find it insulting for them to say that 12 samples in a bag are supposedly worth $79. If allowed, I'll post a photo, honestly, though--it's a joke. And I have ordered from them before and gotten decent and decently-sized items. This ain't it.

Gas cards

Wondering if Publix is hurting in the sales department due to their ridiculously high prices? For at least two years in my area (Sarasota County, FL,) we didn't get the opportunity to buy discounted gas cards. All of a sudden, we've had two in as many months. I barely go there at all, unless there's a really good BOGO sale, but the gas card pretty much always draws me in.

Scrub recommendations

I'm aware that most derm companies seem to be moving away from physical scrubs but I do still like this kind of product after years of use. Can anyone recommend a reef-safe product that's gentle on the skin?

Blanche/Cassidy's vote

I don't know about you, but I got the distinct feeling that Senator Cassidy was choking back a shit sandwich along with his tears because his party leadership made him swallow the Blanche vote so two still viable senators (Collins & Murkowski) wouldn't have to. He'll forever be remembered for his capitulation on this, and most importantly, the Kennedy vote, since he, more than any other senator, knew personally how much RFK Jr.'s stewardship was going to hurt the country. Nothing like taking a knife in the back for the team. Eff 'em all.

Deadline: White House

Nicolle's interview with Mallory McMorrow just reminded me that we all lost out when she pulled out of the contest for Senator Peters's seat. She would have made a great senator. Hopefully Al-Sayed can hold onto that seat.

Care to Beauty purchase

Hi--wondering if anyone in the US has used the "Care to Beauty" website to make a purchase, and if it's reputable? I'm trying to purchase a product I cannot otherwise buy in the US (a sunscreen that has ingredient approvals but has yet to be sold in the US. Problematically, only one brand has been approved to manufacture the product in the US and they will have a monopoly until 2028, if my math is correct. So, has anyone used them?

Does Medik8 qualify? Vitamin C

Hi, I don't know if Medik8 qualifies for "lux" status, but thought I'd ask in case it does--it's "lux" to me! I bought the C-Tetra Luxe because it seemed to be most fitting for me as per the descriptions on the Medik8 website. I'm not really a fan of thicker serums or putting heavy oils on my face and having to wait a few minutes before applying moisturizer. Has anyone tried their Tetra Advanced Gel Serum, and can I expect similar results from that product for the next time, after I finish the C-Tetra Luxe? What does it feel like, as it looks to be more on the gel side than the serum? 😬 TIA...

Yasmin

Does anyone else miss Yasmin Vossoughian's matter-of-fact presentation of the news? I really miss her demeanor--it felt like she was cutting through the BS for me. I'd love to see her back in some capacity, I thought she was great anchoring as well as reporting from the field.

So Rachel just said what I've been saying for a while now

Scott Pelley would be great on MSNOW--if he wants to work there. (Obviously not a direct quote.) CBS's 60 Minutes' new producer just fired him.

SD Mosque shooting press conference

Two things: in re: San Diego Mosque shooting:

The woman screaming at the mayor--what was that about? Was it related to the shooting at all?

Secondly, could they have possibly found a worse place for this press conference? It's obviously right below a flight landing path.

Trading tickets

Hi, I've previously seen posts that people have traded tickets at various venues during this tour. Specifically, I have three seats at TD BankNorth Garden in Boston, contemplating trying to trade them in for four seats together. The tickets were bought through Ticketmaster the day they went on sale, and I believe the trades are done through Ticketmaster with not a lot of additional fees. Does anyone know how this works, and how to access something like this?

Just wondering what the gas prices at the marinas are getting to be in the Lakes Region. Feeling like this may be a quiet summer on the lakes.
