Hey everyone! I just recently purchased some raw/unfinished zirconium scales for a Spyderco smock. I did not know if anyone had any info or guidance on how to color these with heat? From info I’ve found online, it looks like you clean it with isopropyl alcohol, polish/sand it to a nice high grit, torch it evenly until it glows and then let it air cool. But that all kinda seems a bit vague. I was just hoping to get some more guidance or clearer info. If anyone has any zirconium scales or components on their knives, whether the finish was applied yourselves or not I would love to see pictures and learn more about it! Thank you! :) I know there’s risks like warping which can be caused by uneven heating? I don’t know this stuff makes me nervous because it’s so expensive haha.

This thing is so neat in person! Yes I will actually be carrying and using this knife every day and yes I am aware I’ll probably get hate for it lol. Had some cash back points that were begging to be used so I figured why not!

Recently acquired this, I am the second owner. Previous owner purchased it brand new, and sharpened it. I have not sharped it, briefly carried and cut some paper.

Comes with custom micarta scales, & original lightweight orange set. Not looking for trades right now. I am the first owner of both knife & scales. I paid $95 for the knife and $75 for the scales. I have cut with it a few times, just boxes and envelopes, carried a few times. 100% factory edge never sharped still very fresh and sharp. The pocket clip wiggles a bit as seen at the very end of the video, not sure if that’s just how they are supposed to be because this is my only one. Thanks for your time and consideration!
