[update] restoring white oak veneer

Not sure if you remember my first post and I don’t know how to link it so I’ll comment it later below on this post.

Since the last post I did 3 rounds of stripper, 2 rounds of 220 sanding (it looked really light and bare wood at that point, then I did one round of oxalic acid and wiped it off with water (barely did anything).

Thought I was done removing stuff and excitedly added minwax prestain and minwax white wash just for it to bubble and be sticky when I wiped it off.

It looks so bad and so much darker now and I’m really about to give up :(

Finishing advice for white oak veneer

I just bought a table second hand and it had some watermarks on it. I sanded the entire surface once with 220 but the stains didn’t go out. (Probably because it has texture in the wood where it soaked in that my sander can’t reach) before I accidentally sand through the veneer… does anyone have any tips how to proceed? Pics are before sanding and after sanding / closeup of the discoloration. The more I sand the lighter it becomes but doesn’t look like I went through the veneer yet

Dog fever after surgery

Dog had hip surgery 11 days ago and just ran out of antibiotics. She had a 104 fever this morning with heavy panting but now is breathing calmly with a normal Heart rate napping.

I started new antibiotics an hour ago so I won’t see any effect until 24h from now.

Can I wait this out and monitor her temperature or does she need to go an ER?

She’s 4 years old, 46lb. Jindo mix

Double FHO surgery - potty advice

My dog got double Fho surgery. I just picked her up from the vet and she got carried into the car by someone for me.

I carried her home and could drop her nowhere but my bed. I tried putting her on the floor first but she just stood with my sling help and couldn’t settle.

Now she’s on my bed and I really don’t know what to do. She squeals everytime I try to get close to her/move her. She doesn’t understand that she needs to wait for sling support before propping herself up and panics and tries to get away from me.

I am on the second floor and carrying her downstairs to eliminate seems impossible. I had bought the sling to see if she would do it outside on my patio but couldn’t train her in time to use the patio potty correctly. When I tried to train her she held her pee for 24h until I took her downstairs.

I also had bought her wee weee pads for that reason (to see if she would pee on those on the patio to no avail).

What should I do to minimize her pain? Should I line her crate with pads and don’t move her at all? I wouldn’t know how to clean up after her then either. She would get so spooked she’d try to move and would be in pain anyway. I also can’t leave her laying in her own pee…

Do I help her onto the patio and risk her just standing there and it have been for nothing?

Do I need to carry her down every time? She doesn’t look like she would even want to pee :/ she seems in so much pain.
