I made this redstone robot skin years ago, and even now I'm still quite proud of it.
This has been my main skin for the last 6 years. I've always been a really big fan of the redstone elements of the game, and while there are many robot and redstone themed skins my goal with this one was to make one that looks like it could plausibly work within the rules of the game, give or take some creative liberties.
- The furnace in the chest is a reference to furnace minecarts. It also explains why this robot needs to eat and breathe.
- The legs use slime and honey blocks because legs are used for locomotion, and all moving/flying machines in Minecraft are made with those blocks. One leg uses slime and the other uses honey so that they don't stick to each other.
- The arms are sticky pistons because pistons are how redstone machines interact with the blocks around them, and it explains how inventory items stay in the hand.
- The head is an observer because that's where the eyes are, it's how the robot observes the world.
- The command block on the back is supposed to be the robot's brain, and it can be used to explain any number of things including how this robot talks in chat and occasionally enters creative mode. It's connected to the observer with a redstone line, the idea being that that's how it gets information about what the robot is seeing.
- The shulker box on the back is supposed to be the robot's inventory.
