Villa exits ranked from biggest success to biggest disappointment
Wolves are reportedly interested in Louie Dobbin.
Reports suggest Wolves are keeping tabs on Louie Dobbin ahead of the new season. The young winger found opportunities limited at Villa, and a move could offer him more regular first-team football. If the interest is genuine, it will be interesting to see whether the club is willing to let him leave or sees him as part of the long-term plans.
Would you accept more academy departures if it meant keeping the first team together?
It looks like Villa could be open to selling more academy players as the club continues to deal with financial regulations, rather than cashing in on established first-team stars. It's a difficult balance between protecting the senior squad and giving young players a pathway at the club. Academy sales may not be what fans want to see, but they could become an unavoidable part of the strategy. How do you feel about this approach?
Meadow Lane has a specific character that I think gets undersold even by people who love this club
Sits right on the Trent, Nottingham Forest visible across the water, the oldest professional ground in the world still in use as a football venue. That combination of geography and history is genuinely extraordinary and on the right night when the ground has some noise in it there's nowhere quite like it. The setting alone is worth something that money can't really replicate.
Notts County's FA Cup winners of 1894. Club legends forever
David McGoldrick signing for Mansfield Town, how are we feeling about this?
I honestly didn't see this one coming. David McGoldrick has just wrapped up a free transfer to Nigel Clough’s Mansfield after leaving Barnsley. I know he's 38 and just wants to play out his career locally, but signing for them? The Stags? He literally left Derby to come to his boyhood club here at Meadow Lane, always talked about being a massive Magpies fan, and now he's gone and lit the fuse on a massive rivalry right as we head into League One. The reception he’s going to get when he steps out onto the pitch against us is going to be incredibly tetchy. Did this ruin his cult hero status for you, or do you just not care given his age?
Gibbons, Sanders, and Cal Roberts returning, rate the early summer business out of 10!
The club hasn’t wasted any time since the window opened. We’ve already locked in three major pre-contract agreements for July 1st: James Gibbons (RB from Cambridge), Max Sanders (CM from Crewe), and a massive return for Callum Roberts from Scunthorpe. On the flip side, long-serving midfielder Ollie Norburn has officially departed for Oldham. Who is the standout signing of the three for you? Are you excited to see "Cal Roberts" back in a black-and-white shirt, or is Max Sanders the exact type of technical midfielder Martin Paterson needs to dictate the tempo in a higher division?
Which Notts County player from any era do you think deserves to be talked about more when the history of the club comes up?
Every club has players who were genuinely important at the time but have slowly faded from the conversation as the years go on. Notts County has more history than almost any club in the world to draw from and there must be players sitting in that archive who did something remarkable that the current generation of fans barely knows about. Would love to know who people here think deserves to be remembered more than they currently are.
Account locked/restricted, any tips on reaching a real person?
Has anyone had any luck recently getting a real person to properly look at an account issue? I’ve been locked out/restricted and I’m stuck in a loop with the automated support system in the app. I’ve tried the usual help options but I’m not really getting anywhere, and I’m starting to worry this is going to drag on forever. Does anyone know the best way to escalate an appeal for UK drivers, or any contact route that actually gets a human response? Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve managed to get something like this resolved.
How do I claim back overpaid National Insurance after moving from PAYE to self-employed?
I switched from PAYE employment to self-employed work during this tax year and I think I may have ended up overpaying National Insurance contributions. Just wondering how refunds normally work in this situation. Does HMRC usually sort it automatically, or is it something I need to claim through Self Assessment? If anyone’s dealt with this before, would really appreciate any advice on the process, forms or how long refunds usually take.
How do you guys actually balance the "low fee" days?
I’m finding that some days the algorithm is just pushing nothing but these tiny, sub-£3 orders. I’ve started being a lot more selective about what I take, but it’s a gamble. What’s your personal rule of thumb for deciding what’s actually worth the petrol/time right now? I’d love to hear some strategies that are actually working for people.
What is the actual holy grail midge repellent for late May/June?
Midge season seems to be starting properly now, and I’m trying to avoid getting absolutely destroyed on the trail. I keep seeing completely different advice online, some people swear by Smidge, others say only high-DEET sprays work, and then there are loads of people claiming Avon Skin So Soft is somehow the secret answer. What’s actually worked best for you on the WHW? Is a decent spray enough around this time of year, or should I just accept defeat and buy a head net now?
Is anyone actually managing to grab open runs anymore?
Trying to lock down shifts this week has been a nightmare. Feels like the second an open run appears on the app, it disappears almost instantly. Genuinely curious how people are managing it now. Are some riders using auto-clickers or similar tools, or do you basically have to sit there refreshing constantly and hope for the best? How’s everyone getting their hours in lately?
Bruno equalling the Premier League assist record somehow doesn’t feel talked about enough!
20 assists in a league season is genuinely ridiculous. Feels like people have become so used to Bruno creating chances constantly that performances like this almost get normalised now. Do you guys think Bruno is finally getting the appreciation he deserves from football fans outside United?
Thoughts on the new home kit? Looks like they’ve gone for a very retro feel this time.
Just saw the launch photos and the darker red at the bottom is a nice touch. Glad we’ve moved away from all the neon and random black accents from recent years. Can already picture Bruno banging them in wearing this next season..
Is a 5% deposit actually a trap in this market?
We’ve finally hit our 5% deposit goal, but our broker is pushing us to wait until 10% for a better rate. With 95% LTV deals around 5.7% compared to roughly 4.8% for 10% deposits, the monthly difference feels massive. Is it better to just get on the ladder now and stop paying rent, or do the lower rates actually justify another year living with my parents? My worry is that if we wait, house prices will just rise and wipe out the extra savings anyway.
Would you sell Rashford this summer if Barcelona make a permanent move?
Rashford’s future feels like one of the biggest decisions United have this summer now. Hansi Flick praised him again this week and it still sounds like Barcelona are considering whether to make the move permanent, but nothing’s decided yet. If a serious offer came in this summer, would you cash in now or still try to rebuild around him at United?
