What is your plan trying a new bbq place?

Do you have a personal preference, ask a local, read reviews, or try them all as an experience?

Where do sides rate for you?

They represent 1/2 of my review, since I typically try for at least 3 sides per meal.

I love sausage, don't eat chicken or turkey..but i never waste $ on them at a restaurant.

Pulled pork is reserved for a speed meal only.

With beef and pork ...ribs,brisket, etc available.

I prefer to try those first, unless the restaurant has something unusual, example is Southern Soul on ST Simons Is Ga has prime rib on Fridays, any coast has great BBQ seafood available.

Choosing between seafood and BBQ is tough for me.

If you're on I95 going through Ga these are my recommendations.

Smoking pig in Richmond Hill 7/10.

Southern Soul on ST Simons Is 10/10.

Brunswick Gary Lee's meat market 8/10 only open Thursday-Sunday

New packout compatible tools from pipeline today

I am excited about 2.0 hand truck,4 gallon packout vacuum with external dust bin.

Cooler is a disappointment with only 30qt capacity.

I own the large xl coffin type and probably wont buy the smaller split lid.

Jobsite lunch warmer and new wrench and socket drawer organizers dont fit my needs.

Unrelated I will use the 15 AHR battery in my vacuums.

No m12 surge😮

Any guesses on what new packout will be announced tomorrow on the pipeline?

Am guessing only side accessories.

Maybe another crate?

A double width crate would be nice for larger tools.

Og roller should have an air compressor ,vacuum or an power supply that drops in.

What do you think they will drop,and/or what are you wanting?

Has anyone ordered any parts from jcwhitney.com recently?

Back in the early 90's they and Summit were one of the few mail order catalogs you could order lots of parts from, suspension, engines and aftermarket.

If memory serves me correctly, you could buy a cam and the entire rebuild kit with all the bearings, pistons and gaskets for a sb Chevy for around $200.

This was also when we had a full machine shop, dedicated radiator repair shop in our small town of pop 10k lol.

I built a 350 in an s10,special headers,motor mounts,and a rebuilt 700r4 for $1100.

Redneck engineers can evolve.

When you learn to build a crude jig it makes your life easier.

Whether using a vinyl post as a guide to cut a v groove, into a decorative cap on a post, welding a 20lb sledge into post pounder,3/4 socket onto a worn out sds bit to pound ground rods.

Next comes setting 24 ft tall posts, parallel in beach sand, and end up building a cabinet door and scribing 2 cabinet into a complex corner.

Its a very slippery slope.

Bubblegum welding, ratchet straps and bondo, helps a fellow out along the way.

A few of my offerings.

From 5 years ago.

Gutter cleaner 9000

And fertilizer spreader. The tube was a cup dispenser for a water jug, rope was from a centurion of whom I robbed his plumage.

Alton Browns baked potato is a level up over the tin foiled standard!

I've made potatoes in many ways over the last 35 years.

Campfire .. set in coals,on a rock,in tinfoil,in a can with water.

Boiled in water, cut in rings and roasted with other veggiesand meat, beanbag in the microwave ,shredded from cooked or raw then fried in a pan .

Raw fried and roasted were my favorite..until now.

Recipe ..prick with a fork ,then oil and salt completely .300f directlyon the oven rack for 1 hour ,re-oil and salt ...bump to 400f for 10 minutes.

The salted peelings are amazing.

I added butter , mild cheddar ,hot paprica and s/p.

Highly recommend!

Why I like and shop at buccees.

I and everyone I know absolutely loves stopping in except, 1 brother who wants to always dine in with ac.

We like the variety ,CLEAN RESTROOMS ,cheap gas, decent food and cheap fountain drinks.

I personally know several people who work there, and enjoy their pay.

All the women in my life... absolutely positively love the clean restrooms.

Do they care whether its not minority (owned in paperwork only) ....no.

Is the bbq as good as stand alone independent bbq...no but its at a decent price point.

Do I need to care about how all these threads of people "claiming to be overworked"...no.

You have government agencies and news corporations that love to share abuse and negligence.

As a consumer I want clean restrooms, cheap gas and a variety of fast food at a decent price.

We don't live in a communist society where anyone is forced to work in a bad environment.

And yes individual bad management can happen everywhere,we as consumers need to see the "bad receipts" with all the complaing posted on here.

The consumer drives trade, and I haven't heard of any first hand knowledge that would deter me or any acquaintances from visiting a buccees at every opportunity.

Their is a r/buccees employees that you can post on,frankly I do not care.

Biscuits with gravy and eggs.

There are a lot of good local vendors near you.

This sunflower oil was 50 miles away, eggs commuted 10 miles ,apples 400 miles, pans from lodge took 350 miles. Unfortunately the flour and dried beef were a longer unspecified distance .

Was good to the last drop.

Because I have freewill!

I didn't pick the peaches,but canned them.

Didn't make the ice-cream, but bought the Breyers french vanilla.

I did however make the biscuits from scratch with crisco.

Absolutely amazing taste and texture!

Hanging out with my Mennonite mom.

She was born in 1934,married in 1957.

She said she copied recipes down by hand, until she was gifted her first cookbook for Christmas.

She has a lot of books and about as many on cards.

Also we put up tomatoe juice that she likes to drink.

A different era for sure!

Summer vegetables, do you have any traditions?

Growing up we always put up freezer corn ,and canned tomatoes 10 different ways.

Out tradition was bacon and tomato sandwiches, with corn on the cob and cold chocolate milk.

Now corn and tomato season is upon us (SE) .. and it is still a priority for nostalgia.

Getting older I quit bacon many years ago,and I prefer pesto instead of butter on c/c...but I still like chocolate milk and tomato sandwiches with c/c.

Hickory smoke salt on an open faced tomato sandwich.

A small cheap paintbrush is a good spreader for corn.

Juice dripping down your elbows..says summer is here!

Strawberry season is in. Tonight we had bread soup, crumpled bread with a little sugar into cold milk.

Then you add whatever fruit is in season. Rough chop the fruit and add to the soup.

Serve with hotdogs or sausage sandwiches .

You get salt and sweet and usually eaten outdoors. Grew up on a farm and we canned jam from blueberries, strawberries, peaches, and elder berries. This was eaten since my sister put up canned strawberry jam, and we live next door.

This summer we will eat fresh tomato sandwiches with corn on the cob , washed down with cold chocolate milk while the juices drip down your elbow.

This will happen when we freezer can corn.

For the free food I replaced an outlet for her.
