Trying to collect real living information about gated societies in Bengaluru.

I'm putting together a place where people can share and check what it's actually like to live in different societies.

Maintenance, water, electricity, parking, security, noise — basically the stuff you usually find out after moving in.

If you've lived in a Bengaluru society, could you help me add some real experiences?

Still very early, but I'm curious to see how much useful information we can collect from actual residents.

Am I getting fake reviews even at the early stage?

About a week ago, I posted here that I'm building a "Glassdoor for gated societies" in India.

It's basically a structured review platform where residents can review their societies.

I've been living in India for about a year as a foreigner.

I'm still very early. I don't even have 10 reviews yet.

Since there aren't many users yet, I'm personally reaching out to people and asking if they could help me by leaving a review.

Recently, someone I met through Reddit became the first contributor from Kolkata.

We had actually talked quite a bit about the project before this, so I was genuinely happy when he decided to contribute.

I published the review, sent him the link, thanked him, etc.

Then I randomly found the second-ranked review on Google for the same society, and it was almost identical to the review he submitted to my platform.

My first reaction was basically:

"Wait... what? 😂"

I don't know exactly what happened, so I'm not going to claim that it was definitely copied.

But it got me thinking about something I've been thinking about since the beginning of this project:

How do you actually build a trustworthy UGC platform when you can't completely control the authenticity of every piece of content?

This experience made me realize that I probably shouldn't try to perfectly verify every review before publishing it.

Instead, I'm leaning toward preventing obvious abuse technically, while keeping the option to investigate and verify reviews when necessary.

From what I've read, AmbitionBox seems to take a somewhat similar approach in its moderation policy.

I'm still figuring this out, but this experience definitely made me think more seriously about how trust should work in a UGC platform.

What do you think?

Bangalore folks — quick question.

when you're looking for a flat, how do you usually figure out what it's actually like to live there?

Listings obviously tell you the good stuff 😄

But things like water problems, maintenance, noise, parking, annoying neighbours, etc.

Do you usually check Google reviews, ask people you know, Reddit, or something else?

Just curious how people actually do this.

Gated society residents, could use your help

I've been working on a small project around residential society reviews, and I could use some help from people who actually live in gated communities.

I've noticed quite a few posts here asking things like:

“Is this society good to live in?”
“Anything I should know before moving here?”
“Has anyone actually lived here?”

And it made me realize how much useful information is buried in random Reddit posts, comments, Google reviews, WhatsApp groups, etc.

I'm trying to collect some of those real experiences in one place so they're easier to find.

If you currently live, or have previously lived, in a gated society, would you be willing to share your experience with me?

It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Water problems, maintenance, security, parking, noise, construction quality, amenities — or even something surprisingly good.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do this, so I'd genuinely appreciate any help or feedback.

If you'd rather share privately, feel free to DM or Comment.
I'm also happy to offer a small token of appreciation for your time.

Good or bad experiences are both welcome.

Vrindavan residents — would you share your society experience for ₹100?

I'm looking for people who currently live, or have previously lived, in a gated society in Vrindavan.

I'm collecting real experiences about things like water supply, maintenance, security, cleanliness, parking, noise, etc.

If you're willing to share your genuine experience through a short review and provide a valid proof of residence, I'll pay ₹100 after the review is approved.

Positive or negative experiences are both welcome — I'm interested in what actually happened, not a particular rating.

If you're interested, you can fill out this short form: https://forms.gle/3VBWzDV968Q6ffCC7

I'm mainly looking for residents/former residents of residential societies in Vrindavan.

Can we build better housing information for Vrindavan?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently building a small project called SocietyHub.

The idea is simple:

To collect structured information about residential societies and help people make better housing decisions before they move.

Apartment listings usually show photos and amenities, but it's often harder to compare things like:

  • Water supply
  • Electricity reliability
  • Maintenance
  • Security
  • Management
  • Daily living experience

I'm currently looking for people living in Vrindavan who would be willing to share their experience.

I'm not selling anything.

I'm simply trying to build better housing information for our city.

If you'd like to help or have any feedback, feel free to comment or send me a DM.

Thank you!

I lost electricity. Then I accidentally found a startup idea.

About two months ago, something happened in our gated community that completely changed the way I think about housing.

Our gated community lost electricity for several days.

Water stopped running.

We eventually had to leave our apartment and stay in a hotel.

That experience made me ask a simple question.

Why is it so difficult to understand what living in a society is actually like before moving in?

The information technically exists.

People complain on WhatsApp.

People post on Reddit.

People leave random Google reviews.

But it's scattered everywhere.

There isn't one place where future residents can quickly understand the real experience of living there.

So my wife and I started building SocietyHub. A place where residents can anonymously share structured, decision-useful reviews to help future residents make better housing decisions.

We're still very early.

[Reels] The biggest housing problems are often invisible until you move.

Our biggest challenge is the classic cold-start problem.

If you were building a review platform from scratch,

how would you solve the cold-start problem?

Looking for people willing to share their gated community living experience

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a small project around gated community living in India.

The idea is simple: helping people understand what living in a society is actually like before they make a decision.

I'm looking to hear from people who have lived in a gated community and are willing to share their experience.

Things like:

  • Water supply
  • Maintenance
  • Security
  • Management
  • Cleanliness
  • Things you wish you knew before moving in

If you have lived in a gated community, I would love to hear your experience.

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. If you prefer a private conversation, you can also DM me.

Where do you usually research a society before moving in?

When you're considering a new society, where do you usually get your information?

What sources do you usually use?

  • Google Reviews
  • Reddit
  • Brokers
  • Property websites (99acres, MagicBricks, etc.)
  • Current residents
  • WhatsApp groups
  • Visiting the society in person
  • Something else?

Do you usually feel like that's enough information to make a confident decision?

I'm curious how other people approach this.
