this is a silly reddit post so that i can maybe gain hope, and maybe anyone has gone through the same experience. (please no shame, i have enough)
i smoked weed for about a year and a half, and quit around 3-4 months ago and rarely smoke now, and my lung capacity is quite reduced to how it used to be. i used to be able to belt and sing for a long period of time, but i just get winded easily now. i got roped/addicted into it by people i knew as they claimed it wasn't addictive and would only damage my lungs if i did it for years. for a year i felt nothing, and then suddenly my lungs sort of gave out on me, and it became much harder to breathe deep breaths, and sing for several bars at a time without taking a bunch of pauses for air. i mainly do musical theatre, and something i found out i really want to pursue about 9 months into smoking. i know my actions were very stupid, and i'm really trying to heal my lungs for not just singing, but for my health in general. is there any good chance i'll get close to how it used to be, or will it be difficult forever?
i feel horrible about my past actions and wish i could take back it all as it wasn't worth it, and i just hope that i can sing how i used to soon or ever, hopefully in the next 2 years.
Somehow about a monthish ago, I was a little stupid and downloaded suspicious files onto my Macbook, but I thought because I had a malware detector I would be okay. (It was an nsp file, as well as firmware and keys ((not sure what that means, or what type of file but it was required for what I was attempting to do.))) After downloading them, I got a notification from several different websites that people from all over the world are attempting to log into my accounts (I assume whoever it is used a VPN), and successfully did multiple times for lots of them. They got onto my google account so they may have gotten all my passwords from there, but i'm not sure.
A lot of my passwords (for nonimportant stuff) are similar or the same, as I set them when I was much younger. They got into my instagram account and posted + dmed everyone/where a crypto scam, and I deleted it all and changed my password. Somehow they got my password again, and I put the setting where you have to accept each log in, and since then, I have been getting attempted log-ins almost every single day, and I change my password every time after that.
The suspicious files from my mac were deleted recently, but I'm not sure if it would help. After searching through my files it seems like a google chrome file/extension was downloaded as well as the other files (I deleted it so I'm not so sure what it is now 😞) which was suspicious as well. I'm fully assuming it was from these files from online, which was stupid for me to download but I thought I would be safe because of my malware detector. Almost every single account I have has had their password leaked somewhere online according to google, which I have been changing, but I have no idea how on earth they continuously get the new password almost instantly. Please.. don't shame me for my stupidity... I'm very aware it was stupid, coming from a person who's family members specialize in IT support. Big yikes. Thank you!! :3
