The Jettison, a repurposed low orbit atmospheric research platform

She's built like a steakhouse but handles like a bistro! This research ship has been repurposed and upfitted to take on more of an exploration role. It has more combat capabilities, more powerful engines, and enough fuel to jump nearly anywhere in the Settled Systems. The crew and passenger slots allow for a full complement of scientists and specialists, and the generous storage space (both hull and interior containers) ensure enough materials are available to build a robust outpost on any world.

Using just a few mods (all achievement-friendly)

  • ASC Deimos
  • ASC Taiyo
  • Ship Builder Configurator
  • Habs are all Lambent: Street Rat Ship Services

Would have made it bigger too, but I ran out of module space!

Time to live, laff, loot again in another universe. This is what I'm bringing through Unity.

Since Delta was being glitchy, I decided to hit the Unity so I could try again at his 'Greater Than/Less Than' story beats. Going full Ryujin this time with a red/white scheme.

  • A couple Ryujin suits, helmets, and packs for myself and my follower (the Ace Pilot one is 🔥) I think they're from this achievement friendly mod: https://creations.bethesda.net/en/starfield/details/bda30d51-deb3-4b2a-987e-5fcaf591699f/Factions__amp__Encounters_Expanded
  • My small collection of Va'ruun statuettes (2 of 4). Gotta collect them all!
  • A pile of Astra (zero weight, bringing it all~120ish).
  • Some weapons including the amazing sniper rifle and the Mantis mag weapon from the Tracker's Alliance missions.
  • A few ship upgrades because I have to start again.
  • And a few X-tech cores if there's space available. I've upgraded the storage container to 80kg, so pretty doable.

Will wind up rushing the terran Armada stuff first to get Delta and do his story, before settling down. I'm a little sad to be leaving behind my advanced reactor empire, but what can you do LOL.

Massive gear problem on new printer. Print head stuck or jammed, lots of grinding.

This happens when I try to print. It’s not stowed for transport, the ink isn’t low, and there’s paper. How do I unjam whatever motorized part is causing this?

They followed me home, can I keep them?

Both Huygens III and Huygens IV have the adorable milliwhales. Huygens III has a ton of other life but toxic atmosphere. Huygens IV has a bit less fauna but would make a beautiful home.

Starfield map updated. It's back in black with a few minor additions.

I had remade this in white for everyone to print themselves a couple weeks back after the latest DLC dropped. The white version saved a ton of ink, but I got more than a few requests to bring back the black version, so here it is.

Anyone who's new or just seeing this, this map is a comprehensive printable that:

  • Now includes BUCK-E (BUCK-EES HA!) and the Clinic.
  • Is now available in white or black backgrounds.
  • Shows grid indicators to help communicate/remember where something is.
  • Contains all current DLC locations (Kavnyk, Anchorpoint, etc.)
  • Shows many unique POIs (Bounty locations, new homes, minor missions, etc.).
  • Lists all unique resources and where to find them (and if they are farmable).
  • Indicates the quantity of inorganic resources in every system (basically how rich the system is)
  • Warns of systems that scan for contraband.
  • Calculates the shortest distance in light years between more remote systems (over 16ly must upgrade the Frontier).
  • Highlights faction controlled systems, including Va'ruun, because their heavy presence suggests they control nearby Nirah and Serpentis too (no brainer there).

I updated it on my Starfield Outpost page too with links to download high res versions including a full size 36" × 24" PDF containing both the black and white versions. Totally free, feel free to print and do whatever you'd like with it; make a digital wallpaper, make a real wallpaper, load it into Space Canva and make brochures, whatever your heart desires (except reselling please). If you're unable to print or don't want to bother, there are 36" × 24" and 18" × 12" prints available.

I did change the faction patterns from the recent white version back into color shades, it just worked better for both versions, consistency-wise. Had gone with black and white in the last version to avoid any notion of difficulty (red, yellow, green, blue) but I think it's clear enough despite sticking with my limited color palette.

Enjoy!

Control shadow issues still? Haven't been able to find a working fix, maybe someone here knows.

Wanted to do a fresh run through of Control before the new one comes out, and the shadows/lighting is so distracting I don't think I'll be able to continue. Haven't been able to find a working solution either; seems this issue has been around for a while? Here's my setup:

GPU: RTX 5070 (Driver 610.47)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Display Configuration: 2560x1440
Operating System: Win 11
Driver Regression: NA
Affected Applications/Games: Control (by Remedy)
Issue Description - Shadows flicker non-stop in all situations, continually.
Steps to Reproduce - Simply play the game, with any video settings under all conditions. Lowest quality, highest quality, everything disabled, tried each setting once at a time, etc. Additionally the NVIDIA control panel (tried disabling that too) can't retrieve the current values. I've done system restarts, and all the usual suspects.

New map! Now that all the DLC has dropped, I wanted to share my retooled Settled Systems map.

This is the fully updated and refreshed map to include all the DLC and locations. Changes include:

  • White background so it's much easier to print at home.
  • Grid indicators to help communicate where something is.
  • DLC locations added (Kavnyk, Anchorpoint, etc.)
  • More unique POIs marked (Bounty locations, new homes, minor missions, etc.).
  • DLC unique resources have been added.
  • Systems that scan for contraband.

I updated it on my Starfield Outpost page with links to download high res versions to print and do whatever you'd like with it (except resell of course). If you're unable to print, I do have hard copies available. It's a 36" × 24" poster size which also scales nicely down to 18" × 12". This is still a bit of a soft launch because I'm always hunting for spelling edits and other tiny details, but it feels pretty solid to go ahead and announce.

Enjoy!

Goodnight, sleep tight, pass 100 UT hours in less than a night.

If you want to speed things along (outpost farming, resetting vendors, etc.), spend an hour sleeping on Venus—where 1 hour local is 100 hours UT. You’ll top off every single manufactured item and extracted mineral at every outpost, almost instantly.

However! Venus requires a very high planetary habitation skill, so here are all the other planets and moons with a 1:100 time dilation, many of which require no planetary habitation skill to set up an outpost (or just sleep in your ship):

  • Charybdis IV (Planet) in the Charybdis system
  • Charybdis V (Planet) in the Charybdis system
  • Copernicus IV (Planet) in the Copernicus system
  • Copernicus V (Planet) in the Copernicus system
  • Katydid II (Planet) in the Katydid system
  • Katydid III (Planet) in the Katydid system

Friendly reminder to set up X-Tech storage at the Ryujin, Freestar, and United Colonies outposts before handing them over, revisit later for X-Tech.

I'm in the middle of updating my Starfield map and AFAIK the Terran Armada quest "Favors for Favors" outpost locations are always in the same place. Can everyone confirm these are the same for them?

  • Freestar: Ternion III
  • Ryujin: Nemeria IV-A
  • United Colonies: Strix I

After handing them over to the three factions, they no longer have an indicator on the big starmap. However, you can still find their location in the database and land directly at the base from orbit. Drop some bots to increase production, add some storage, and come back later to grab the free X-Tech.

More of a curiosity than anything, I've never really gotten usable output from turntable. Guessing the best output comes from clear, human-like, or other simple figures, and nothing too cartoony or weird? Setting aside my beef with AI in general, the output is probably fine to use as an onion skin reference for redrawing everything peoperly, but not very usable hot off the render.

Not knocking it too hard because some parts of these are kind of great, but the wacky output is pretty wild, and the fact that every image has every stroke converted to a fill makes them hard to work with. Par for the course I guess seeing as how any custom brushes always get expanded when live painting and such.

  • In the Buc-ee example, things get a little disfigured halfway through the rotation.
  • In Lun-ee example (fat dog in pink winter hat), there are only a few bad frames, but not too bad.
  • Same with the Mik-ee example (the moose), it's kind of ok other than weird and inconsistent hair lines.
  • In my Pos-ee (opossum) example, the middle 0 degree-0 degree image decided to skip the render altogether.
    • The gif sequence is corrupted and impossible to open in Photoshop.
    • It's nightmare fuel in parts of the render, but in a hilarious way.
  • Same deal in the Izz-ee (dog in red hat) example. No idea why turntable felt the need to put the middle 0-0 image so far away and not include it in the gif render.
    • The figure gets a bit strange past the 30 degree rotation.
    • The hat becomes a weird three-lobed structure.
  • Same exact missing middle image in the iguana. Seriously, why is that happening? Maybe everything needs to be expanded and merged into one group?
    • There's maybe one or two usuable frames from the entire rotation and it's a mess everywhere else. The illustration is no Picasso, but a confused AI is on full display here.
  • It's impossible to cancel a turntable render. I found it eating tokens instead of opening up the toolbar by doing a completely new render instead. A prompt would be nice. Probably a me-thing by not noticing which image is the actual turntable root vector and which is a piece of the render (there's an icon on the root image).

All the apparently perfect examples from influencers with their "...I'm literally shaking, look how well this works!" never seems to work for myself. At least I can fade them all out and redraw the poses properly, so it's not all bad.
