EverDrive-64 Pro has arrived in Ukraine 🇺🇦

My EverDrive-64 Pro arrived today in Odesa, Ukraine.

Really happy to finally have it in hand. I’ve been using Krikzz products for years, so seeing a new flagship EverDrive release is especially exciting.

Huge respect to Krikzz and the team for continuing to design and produce hardware in Ukraine despite everything.

I know many people are still waiting for their orders, so I hope everyone’s cartridges start arriving soon as well.

I’ve already done a little testing on real N64 hardware. I tried Smash Remix, which is a pretty large ROM and a good test for the new hardware, as well as some 64DD releases. So far, everything I’ve tried has been working perfectly.

Obviously, this is only a first impression and I still have a lot more to test, but so far the EverDrive-64 Pro is off to a great start.

I’m also looking forward to spending more time with it and comparing it directly with the X7.

PS5 Pro CFI-7000 dies after 2 seconds — unknown UART error 80801002 (no information anywhere, need repair experts)

Hello everyone. I’m from Ukraine and I urgently need advice from anyone experienced with PS5 Pro board-level repair.

My PS5 Pro CFI-7000 suddenly shut down while running a relatively undemanding PS4 game. I stepped away for about 30 seconds and returned to a completely dead console.

Now it behaves as follows:

  • Sometimes the first press of the power button does nothing.
  • On the next attempt, it beeps and shows a blue light.
  • The fan starts spinning.
  • After 1–2 seconds, all power is cut.
  • The blue light goes out and the fan stops immediately.
  • It never reaches the white light.
  • Safe Mode is impossible because it shuts down before the second beep.

The console has only around 250 hours of total use. Because of the war, power outages and the general situation in Ukraine, I had very little opportunity or mental energy to play. Unfortunately, the warranty has now expired.

The repair situation here is also extremely difficult. The main official PlayStation service centre serving Ukraine was destroyed during a missile strike, and there is currently no functioning official repair route available to me. Sony’s out-of-warranty option is an exchange for a refurbished console rather than a repair of my own unit. A replacement PS5 Pro is also currently far too expensive for me.

I have already:

  • Removed the additional M.2 SSD.
  • Removed the detachable Blu-ray drive.
  • Disconnected all USB, HDMI, LAN and other accessories.
  • Tested with only the power cable connected.
  • Left the console unplugged for more than 24 hours.
  • Held the power button for 60 seconds while unplugged.
  • Allowed the console to cool completely.

Nothing changed. There was no burning smell, crackling, unusual noise, visible dust or previous overheating.

The console was connected through a high-quality voltage stabilizer and battery backup because power fluctuations are common here.

An experienced private technician is currently diagnosing the board. So far he has found:

  • No visible damage.
  • No obvious short circuits.
  • Static voltage and resistance measurements appear normal.
  • The PSU has not yet been conclusively ruled out under load.

The UART log contains:

  • 80810001 — General Power Failure / Power Sequence Error.
  • 80000009 — Unexpected Power Loss or Shutdown Failure.
  • 80800022 — No/Bad Communication Between APU and RAM. This appears only occasionally.
  • 80801002 — High-priority error not found in the Console Service Tool database. This repeats across many startup attempts.

One raw 80801002 entry is:

OK 00000000 80801002 00000001 FF100005 10000100 2013 0036 1EB1 1D1D:E4

Other attempts contain the same FF100005 10000100 2013 0036 sequence but different trailing values.

Some repair technicians have suggested that known GDDR6 bank faults normally use 808011xx codes, so the intermittent 80800022 may be secondary rather than the primary fault. Another possibility is the separate ninth 2 GB DDR5 chip found in the PS5 Pro, or its power/communication circuitry. However, this is only a theory.

Has anyone encountered 80801002 on a PS5 Pro? Does anyone know how to interpret the additional raw values? Could it be related to the extra DDR5 memory, Southbridge, power sequencing, clock/reset signals or another motherboard IC?

Would testing with a known-good PSU still be the first step, or should the technician focus on the motherboard’s memory and power rails during the two-second startup window?

I will attach the complete UART screenshots. Any serious board-level advice would mean a lot to me. This console has barely been used, and finding a repair path is currently my only realistic option.

PS5 Pro CFI-7000 shuts down after 2 seconds — unknown UART error 80801002

Hello everyone. I’m from Ukraine and I’m trying to diagnose a PS5 Pro CFI-7000 that suddenly shut down while running a relatively undemanding PS4 game.

The console has only around 250 hours of use. Because of the war, power outages and the general situation, I barely had the opportunity or state of mind to play. Unfortunately, the warranty has now expired.

The repair situation here is also extremely difficult. The main official PlayStation service centre in Ukraine was destroyed during a missile strike, and there is currently no functioning official repair option available to me. Sony’s out-of-warranty service is described as an exchange for a refurbished console rather than a repair of my own unit. Replacing the console is also very expensive here, so I am trying to save this one.

Symptoms

  • The console beeps and shows a blue light.
  • The fan starts spinning.
  • After 1–2 seconds, all power is cut.
  • The blue light goes out and the fan stops.
  • It never reaches the white light.
  • Safe Mode is impossible because it shuts down before the second beep.

There was no burning smell, unusual noise, visible dust or previous overheating.

I have already removed the additional M.2 SSD and detachable Blu-ray drive, disconnected every cable and accessory, tested it with only the power cable connected, left it unplugged for more than 24 hours and held the power button for 60 seconds while unplugged. Nothing changed.

The console was connected through a high-quality voltage stabilizer and battery backup because power fluctuations are common here.

An experienced private technician checked the board:

  • No visible damage.
  • No obvious short circuits.
  • Static voltages and resistance measurements appear normal.
  • A known-good PSU has not yet been confirmed as a test.

The UART log shows:

  • 80810001 — General Power Failure / Power Sequence Error.
  • 80000009 — Unexpected Power Loss or Shutdown Failure.
  • 80800022 — No/Bad Communication Between APU and RAM. This appears only occasionally.
  • 80801002 — High-priority error not found in the Console Service Tool database. This repeats across many startup attempts.

[PS5 Pro] shuts down 1–2 seconds after the blue light — no Safe Mode, M.2 SSD and disc drive removed

Hi everyone. I’m from Ukraine and I’m looking for technical advice regarding my PS5 Pro CFI-7000.

Yesterday, while the console was running a relatively undemanding PS4 game, I stepped away for about 30 seconds. When I came back, the console had completely shut down.

This is exactly what happens now:

  • The first press of the power button sometimes produces no response.
  • On the next press, the console beeps and the blue light comes on.
  • The fan starts spinning normally.
  • After approximately 1–2 seconds, all power is suddenly cut.
  • The blue light goes out and the fan stops immediately.
  • It never reaches the solid white light.
  • It shuts down long before the second beep, so entering Safe Mode is impossible.

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Disconnected every external cable and USB device.
  • Removed the additional M.2 SSD.
  • Removed the detachable Blu-ray disc drive.
  • Tested the console in its minimum configuration with only the power cable connected.
  • Left it completely unplugged for 12 hours.
  • Checked the power connection and tried starting it again after the console had fully cooled down.

Nothing changed. There is no burning smell, crackling, unusual noise, visible dust, or previous history of overheating. The console is extremely clean and has seen very little actual use.

I have some electronics experience: I collect and maintain consoles ranging from 8-bit systems to modern hardware, and I do basic soldering and repairs on retro consoles. However, the PS5 Pro motherboard and its power-delivery system require a completely different level of diagnostic equipment, so I do not intend to experiment with the board myself.

My assumption is that this is an immediate hardware protection shutdown. Since standby power is present, the blue light activates and the fan receives its startup command, it could be a faulty PSU. However, I am concerned that the PSU may instead be detecting an overload or short circuit on one of the motherboard’s secondary power rails or VRM circuits.

Unfortunately, the console is approximately 18 months old and no longer under warranty. Because of the war, I had very few opportunities to use it and completed only three or four games. Money is very tight right now, so replacing the entire console is not a realistic option.

The only official PlayStation service option available to me in Ukraine was reportedly affected by a missile strike and is currently unable to help. Sony’s Ukrainian out-of-warranty program is described as an exchange: they take the faulty console and provide a refurbished one. I would strongly prefer to diagnose and repair my own console rather than exchange it.

Has anyone encountered this exact failure on a PS5 Pro?

  1. Was the cause the PSU or a fault on the motherboard?
  2. Are there any additional safe tests worth performing before taking it to a board-level repair technician?
  3. Are replacement PS5 Pro power supplies and board components currently obtainable?
  4. If the motherboard is responsible, is component-level repair usually possible, or does it commonly require a donor board?

I would be very grateful for any genuine diagnostic experience or advice. Thank you.

UPDATE — Initial diagnostic results

Thank you to everyone who replied and suggested possible causes. The console is now with a highly regarded private repair technician in Ukraine, and he has completed the initial diagnostics.

So far, he has found:

  • No visible board damage or obvious defective components.
  • No short circuits on any of the checked power rails.
  • All measured voltages and resistance values appear normal for a working console.
  • The internal system log reports a general power-system failure.
  • It also reports a communication failure between the processor and memory.
  • There is one additional error that has not yet been identified.

The technician is continuing the diagnosis. The PSU has not been completely ruled out because it may still fail dynamically under load despite normal static measurements. However, the processor-to-memory communication error raises concern about the GDDR6 memory, its power supply, soldering, or possibly the memory controller inside the APU.

I should also clarify that the console was connected through a high-quality voltage stabilizer and battery backup. Because power fluctuations are common in Ukraine, I protect all of my electronics this way. Therefore, a surge cannot be ruled out with absolute certainty, but the console was not connected directly to an unprotected wall outlet.

I also tried leaving it completely disconnected from power for more than 24 hours and holding the power button for 60 seconds while unplugged. Unfortunately, neither attempt changed the behaviour.

For anyone with board-level PS5 repair experience:

  • Could the processor-to-memory communication error be secondary to the PSU collapsing during startup?
  • Would testing with a known-good PSU still be the most sensible next step?
  • Has anyone encountered these combined power and memory errors on a PS5 Pro?
  • If the fault is related to GDDR6, is it usually possible to identify the affected memory chip or power rail?

I will add another update when the technician reaches a final diagnosis. Thank you again for all the advice and support.

UPDATE 2 — UART logs and initial board-level diagnosis

Thank you again to everyone who has tried to help. The console is now with an experienced private technician, and I have received the UART error logs. I am attaching the screenshots to this update.

So far, the technician has found:

  • No visible damage or obviously failed components.
  • No short circuits on the checked power rails.
  • Static voltage and resistance measurements appear normal compared with a working console.
  • The console still gives a blue light and fan for approximately 1–2 seconds before all power is cut.

The UART log contains the following codes:

  • 80810001 — General Power Sequence Failure.
  • 80000009 — Unexpected Power Loss or Shutdown Failure.
  • 80800022 — No/Bad Communication Between APU and RAM after APU initialization.
  • 80801002 — High-priority error not currently found in the Console Service Tool database.

The most important detail is that 80801002 repeats consistently across many startup attempts, while the APU-to-RAM error 80800022 appears only occasionally.

One representative raw 80801002 entry is:

The changing values differ between attempts, but the following portion remains consistent:

FF100005 10000100 2013 0036

Some experienced members have pointed out that known GDDR6 bank failures normally use codes in the 808011xxrange. Therefore, the intermittent APU-to-RAM error may be secondary to another failure during the startup sequence rather than proof that the GDDR6 or APU itself is defective.

Another possibility raised is the additional system memory found only in the PS5 Pro. Unlike earlier PS5 models, the PS5 Pro has eight GDDR6 chips plus a separate ninth 2 GB DDR5 chip used for slower system processing. Since 80801002 does not appear in the existing databases, it could potentially be a new PS5 Pro-specific code related to that DDR5 chip, its power supply or its communication circuit. This is only a theory at the moment.

The PSU has not been completely ruled out because static measurements can appear normal while a voltage collapses dynamically during startup. However, the repeated unknown motherboard error makes a simple PSU failure less certain.

Has anyone working with PS5 Pro boards encountered 80801002 before? Can any of the additional raw values identify the startup stage, power rail or affected component? Could this relate to the additional DDR5 memory, Southbridge, power-sequencing circuitry or a clock/reset signal?

The technician is continuing the diagnosis. I will post another update if we identify the meaning of 80801002 or find the actual failed component. Any board-level experience or access to newer PS5 Pro UART information would be greatly appreciated.
